Wow!!! that's tons of info! anyway, if phoenix is "attacked" by a martian creature, it probably will immediately take pictures. Even if it couldn't, the people will determine it is some "alien" by the abrupt stop of data.
will phoenix come back to earth bringing those martian samples? does the phoenix have a "Defense Mechanism" that protects its self if ever theres a martian creature attacks? hehehe
no, pheonix.. si just to remain there in mars and do analysis there through the instruments it has on itself... and send the data back.. as wether there are similar minerals in the soil/dirt/surface or if they are undiscovered ones. p.s. i doubt that the pheonix has any type of defense weapons or plan for that matter.. i think they were just focusing on ladning on a safe spot and go from there.
Nothing is perfect. Stitching pictures together to make a larger image is quite a hassle. Especially when Mars is moving and camera takes a while time to pan around the landing site, over time; the shadows change angles, so they look out of alignment from the previous shadow. This is only the begining of the mission, they will do some refinements on the picture stitching so it will look better in the panorama.
ill take your word for it brutha.. but.. c'mon now.... i know we all hope to see some sort of creature walking around the surface through the images sent back from pheonix :)
Phoenix is not a rover because it is simply a different type of mission. The rovers were designed to study rocks at different locations, looking for evidence that the liquid water once flowed on the surface of Mars.
Unlike the rovers, the Phoenix lander knows exactly where to go to find water. To reach it, Phoenix must dig down below the surface and recover ice samples. Thereafter, the samples will be tested onboard to find out if there is a habitable zone for micro organisms.
one B-2 bombers cost more than 400million dollars. and the research behind the plane cost insane amount money and yet that airplane can left the earth:D
and as the others said the mission dont needs wheels. there are 2 succes project with wheels which are working years by now.

please!!! somone answer why teh "whole images are put together so poorly"
check the websites that have them in full definition.. you can clearly see that lines dont match up correctly nor do the shadows...
like i said in a comment before.. im not the c
onsipary or government concealment thinker idiot"
but i sure as hell do question what needs to be questioned...
