How i miss seeing a car driven by the driver! Manual gears no ABS no TCS no electronics just driver and car, such skill this driving pure car and driver, what a car & driver!
I remember when the Road and Track issue of the world's fastest cars featuring the Yellowbird and the 959's (sport and deluxe) and the AMG Hammer and all the rest back in 1986. I made the mistake of leaving it in the lunch room at work so everyone could read it and somebody stole it. Wish they would have taken my wallet instead!
Actually the guy driving was Paul Frere, and this video was taken on the day road and track magazine was having a battle of the supercars competition to see which manufacturers car could hold the highest top sppe, and of course ..The RUF CTR "yellowbird" as it was coined, was victorious. Fantastic driver..even more fantastic car. Porsche went on to make a 993 body ctr2 and a 997RGT ..and currently putting the finishing touches on the RGT 12...very scary stuff!
you are correct but sometimes it has to be drifted trough some turns because of the pendulum. effect and the less gas you have in the tank the softer ya have to be on the gas in the turns

They don't make them like they used to now do they?
I'd pick this over a Veyron anytime of day.
I was a kid when this came out, maybe I'm just getting old.
A child's dream it was and will remain.

That's probably one of the hardest cars in the world to drift in. If Im not mistaken that is rear engine, rear wheel so it's like driving a pendulum.
