Best player EV-ER. Played balls to the wall at all times and lived for competition. Easy to understand why he was also addicted to gambling. He should be forgiven for his transgressions in his lifetime. A hall of fame without Pete is incomplete. 4200 hits is 21 years of 200 hits for gods sake. I've watched baseball since 1967. Pete Rose was one of my baseball heroes. It 's great to see the highlights of him playing. He ran the bases like a crazed fullback. He was the best all around player I ever saw. But I still wouldn't vote-if I had one-to put him in the Hall. A manager of a big league baseball team simply can't place gambling bets on his own team while he is managing the game. I guess he gambled like he played the game-no holds barred.

I agree that he belongs in the Hall of Fame. However, he is his own worst enemy by betting on baseball, then defiantly lying and keeping that lie for 20 years. He thought he was bigger than the game.

I would allow him his day to be inducted into the HOF. I'd put all his great field accomplishments on his plaque and at the end state that he has been banned from baseball for betting on the game.

He should never be allowed back in the game afterwards (much less manage) except ceremonies.
