NEVER BUY "POINT" or "PART" SETS FROM FUNIMATION. If you see a 1.1 or Part 1 on something like that just hold off on buying and wait until they release a FULL SEASON SET....They never discontinue full seasons....Only these half and quarter season boxsets.....
i think funimation should just take the footage from the old bi-lingual dvds they released in the early 00s remaster them just a bit by taking out a small bit of grain leaving them in full screen put in original openings both the american score and japanesse score and release them in 2 sets like the original japanesse dragonboxes were do the same with db gt and the movies and then everyone is happy just my opinion

Funimation added that "the cost incurred to restore these shows has outweighed the suggested retail price we were able to pass along to our fans." They need to release a COMPLETE BOX SET on blu ray. Not individually or atleast GUARANTEE their releases in individual sets. This is really tarnishing Funimation's reputation for me at least. Haven't been able to complete any collection from the Kai Blu Ray, to the Orange Bricks, and forget about the Dragon Boxes (Hard to find the first ones at reasonable price) and NOW the 2.1 will be unfinished. Just when I had decided to collect them all as they were released.

You take all the plot and dialogue out of dragonball z and you just put the "NECCESSARY PARTS" as they claim, and you only add fight scenes..It ruins the anime. Having in depth dialogue and plot is what makes animes interesting. Can you imagine if they did the same thing to Cowboy Bebop? It would ruin cowboy bebop, and you know what it ruins DBZ. What DBZ fans love most about DBZ is its story.

Even Captain Ginyu sounded right.

Don't they have Kai on Blu-ray. I like the English dub better on Kai, but I own the DVD season sets of DB/DBZ already, so I was skeptical of re-buying on blu-ray (not that hardcore of a fan to put a lot of money in one series). The DVD orange cases aren't that bad - true they didn't keep it 4:3 ratio like they did on the Dragonball season sets - it has American and Japanese BGM and languages options. Though Funimation did say it's suspended until they gain technology to do the blu-rays cheaper.
On bonus feature from level 1.1 you can actually see some clips from second and third season, so i don't get it. They are probably not selling well but still, why stop releasing it at the end of first season if you have next two done all ready? Maybe Toei bitch about it and they stopped, because that's what toei do best.

There may be been episodes they couldn't restore with the current process, or Toei want's to get involved in a Blu-ray release. Also, they said suspended not an outright cancellation. This could mean A). We get an HD version of the orange bricks (EWWW). B). Toei got involved and possibly want's to do it right. C). Releasing the series using a cheaper method.
@Rukiri89 Look at how the Kai blu-ray's keep getting delayed, I think they're just putting the releases on hiatus and possibly want to release them as boxed sets at a higher price. Say $100-200, still $1400 versus $2,500 for the Japanese dragon box is a huge trade off! I think this just has more to do with time than anything, no worries these are far from cancelled or they may want to restore the series like Kai except without blurring the grain^^
This makes it FUNimation's second incomplete release on disc with the first being the uncut singles after dropping the Ultimate Uncut DVDs in 2006 (anyone remember those? i sure do since i used to own them all).

I really loved the menu interface and how easy it was to change the bgm during an episode. One of the main reasons I bought the two volumes was to own DBZ on Blu-ray with the US bgm.
...Well, at least I still have the Dragon Boxes...I still want the US bgm, though.
Me personally I felt we already had enough Dragon Ball releases as it was & DBZKai is on Blu-Ray too, although I do feel sorry for those who were purchasing these releases.
But yeah could be they ceased these blu-rays due to remastering over 200+ episodes in HD & that's quite alot

Me personally I felt we already had enough Dragon Ball releases as it was & DBZKai is on Blu-Ray too, although I do feel sorry for those who were purchasing these releases.
But yeah could be they ceased these blu-rays due to remastering over 200+ episodes in HD & that's quite alot
