GREAT video! Thank You. And CONGRATULATIONS to you! I just started back in July - strictly juicing, and now, I'm switching to Vegan. Not only for myself and my family, but b/c to me, it is the ethical thing to do.
Great news, went veggie only 3 weeks ago and started to go stricly vegan a few days ago. I can already feel the excess pounds dropping and I feel great, even if people find it hillarious that I'm never going to drink milk again.
Thanks for sharing- I'm trying to go vegan too and it's so much easier than I thought it would be and I feel so much better! Where can we find the recipe for that delicious looking salad?

Not everyone can be a vegetarian, NVM vegan. To tell people it is something they can decide to do, that they just have to "try hard enough" is a lie that hurts some people. Don't hold up the people who have been vegetarians in India for thousands of years. People of that descent who couldn't hack a vegetarian diet died out thousands of years ago. You can let Alicia Silverstone know that I am very happy for her that she can live vegan, but as she really is CLUELESS about the rest of humanity.
Patricia, Congrats! The salad you are making in the video does look delicious. Could you share the recipe? I'm always looking for new recipes to add to my ever-growing vegan uncookbook. Thanks!
I never would have believed it, but it is true! I gained about 75 pounds about 3 years ago and discovered I had hypothyroidism. In the past, I had done low carb diets to lose weight. I finally got my thyroid under control and decided to go back on the low carb diet to get rid of the excess weight. But I totally lost my taste for meat. After about 2 weeks I started reading stuff about vegetarian and vegan diets, as meat was no longer attractive to me. I have lost 10 poinds in the last 3 weeks!
@spikutus Good for you!! That rocks. Being vegan is the only "diet" I've ever seen that actually helps people lose weight and keep it off. I also had a hormonal health problem that seemed chronic; as a vegan it went away.
@improbableworld If vegan is the only diet you've seen that helps lose weight, you've obviously not seen the dozens of studies PROVING repeatedly that low-carb diets are vastly superior to low-fat diets for weight-loss, glycemic control, cholesterol ratios and triglycerides.
The proof is in the science, and although many vegans have beliefs, the science backs low-carb for all I've mentioned. Period.
@LCHFinCanada Actually, I have read other studies saying that low carb diets may cause other health issues and in fact a diet rich in carbohydrates in the form of whole grains may increase weight loss. I don't know if we can say this is "beliefs" because it is scientifically proven.. I think the only thing we can agree on is that all diets and lifestyles aren't going to work for every individual in the same way.
@UninspiredGirl Interesting - I've never seen such a study as you mention, in years of research. Please point me in it's direction if you can, thanks.
@LCHFinCanada We have to be careful when we say "low-carb" as carbohydrates are the building blocks of the energy we need. Carbohydrates are essential if we monitor the kinds that we eat. I have also heard about research as UninspiredGirl has said where low-carb "diets" has caused health problems. But of course, we need to do what is best for our bodies. If those who eat vegan/vegetarian find that it works for them, then they should do it.
@Rebooter381 With respect, your comment regarding carbohydrates being essential is completely untrue.
It's been known for over 100 years that carbohydrates are not essential to human physiology at all. Ketogenic diets, both extremely low and even NO carb have been used to treat diabetes, epilepsy and other conditions for decades. Entire peoples have lived without carbohydrate for thousands of years.
The science is clear, and the diets are NOT unhealthy - that's a myth.
What was that you were makeing ,looked very good??. I have been trying this for about a year and a half. Lost a bunch of weight , but have been sliping back into my old ways.. No Meat or chicken still but can't stop the Cokes and chips. Have any ideas??
@shakedownstreet48 A great motivator for me to keep away from sodas, chips, and other junk foods is to think comprehensively about the ingredients and the process in which they are made. Then I think "Ugh, why do we eat that stuff?"
I've lost 100 pounds in the past 16 months since going vegan. We do allow ourselves one non-vegan meal a week, but there's often times we still eat vegan anyway because we love the food and how it makes us feel.
What type foods are you eating? How do you know if your getting correct amount of nutrients? I'm very interested in doing this for health plus weight loss...just interested in info.
According to a study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, a plant-based diet can help participants lose weight, lower blood sugar and reduce their need for medications used to treat diabetes and other health conditions. They also can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
I bought Dr. Barnard's book and have been following this prog for 4 weeks as of Friday. So far I have lost 9.5 pounds and I LOVE.. not like.. LOVE the food and it does not feel tough to do, at all. If you're thinking about it, give it a try, I know you won't regret it.
That bean, corn, pepper, and tomato salad looks really delicious!!!

I went vegan a little while ago and I don't have to use two of my asthma meds anymore. They are pretty expensive so this is a HUGE difference for me.
