Some by threat for their lifes, other by exaction - noblemans if they want to keep their ruling position, peasant by paing Jizya. Only in United Kingdom there is a dozen honor killings between 2004 and 2005. Most of cases are in muslim families.

'honor killing' is defined as when a husband or relative kills a woman when he busts her up with committing adultery. he kills her personally and with no law or sharia authority. there are no judges or prophets to let him do that... he just killed out of jealousy and shame of society and to protect his and his family's reputation and dignity. not sharia, not law... not religion is the issue... it's social heritage and culture.

If you think about killing people, then stop killing innocent Turks. Kurds try to be seen like innocent but they are all bloody-minded people. They killed 30.000 people just in Turkey and some of the killed people was Kurds. They kill everybody who thinks in a different way from them.

5000 girls a year are killed in this way throughout the Muslim world. Why is it a bigger sin to draw a cartoon of Mohammed than murder 5000 girls each year? There have been no protests in the streets about honor killing. Answer, Islam is ruled by heartless thugs with big egos and they just don't tolerate criticism of any kind.

Honor killing is probably a lot older than the Muslim religion. It is worth noting that since the Muslim religion has spread through the Middle East it has done nothing to stop this barbaric tradition. That leads to the obvious conclusion that this evil practice is acceptable to Muslim leaders. They will of course deny this but that will be another takiyah for Allah.

so called honor killing is not allowed in islam..and it's occurance is actually rare. You only find it in rural areas were cultural norms dominate without strong islamic institutions. Saudi arabi is considered the most conservative islamic state, however, so called honor killing is almost unheard of.

Generally speaking, muslim women are well respected by their families and societies. Ironically, in the west, women are actually abused the most. In america, every 2 minutes there is a rape case reported, not to mention other related crimes against women..that's very frightening!

I know this is an irrational response, but as a 17 year old girl this makes me terrified of men, and leads me to believe that men are innately sadistic. They need to be conditioned to control their primal instincts. Obviously most men aren't like this, but they have the inherent capacity.

I know many ppl will disagree, but I don't think the capacity to do this is exclusive to, or innate in men only. I think it is a fact of biology. So long as men, in general, are physically stronger than women. This kind of thing and domestic violence in general, will always exist. No matter how educated, enlightened and progressive society at large becomes, there will always be cultures and large segments of the population in all cultures that will resort to such violence against women.
