  • eric's nightmare

  • @MyPaused

Home isn't a 'game', it's meant to be a public space for PS3 owners. An information and socialising hub, basically. I use it once every so often, play new minigames and decorate my personal space when I don't feel like playing a big full game.

They also fixed the horrible loading and download times.

  • @FortyPerc It is a game, you actually said it wasn't, then described it as a game, because it is.

  • @TheSeventiethSeven

Saying Playstation Home is a game is like saying Second Life is a game. It isn't. It has games within it but it's still primarily a "socializing hub" as FortyPerc described. I don't use it very often but it's still very obvious that it ISN'T a game.

  • HOME IS THE MOST DEPRESSING GAME EVER

  • the people who dislike this did not hav fun 2day

  • I downloaded home and i had fun! I wore a sweater and walked outside of my place! :D

  • @TheBrandon231 (gasp), that's awesome!

  • As much as I love playing on the PlayStation, Home is one of the most useless features I've tried on any console. After an hour of using it, I didn't have ANY fun, whatsoever, and I never came back to it.

  • OMG BOOTS!!!

  • QUIT YOUR BITCHIN THERE ALL GOOD CONSOLES except the Wii.

  • QUIT YOUR BITCHIN THERE ALL GOOD CONSOLES.

  • The awkward is contagious.

  • GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • of course the only thing fun about HOME is trolling lame-wads

  • Yeah,, i agree us console guys should stand together against the PC MASTER RACE!

  • @SybaRiot You wouldn't even have consoles if it weren't for PCs.

  • 1:25

  • I -3 ps home

  • lol I love home, but doing in it IRL is much much better

  • pool is the best thing about home

  • Wow there's a lot of fail arguments about each console going on here. People claiming to have both when they clearly don't. Why can't PS3 and Xbox fans just stand together, if you did have both you would think they were pretty much the same, only one would suit you better out of personal preference, which for me is the PS3, but the Xbox is still almost as good.

Let's cut all the bull crap and stand together. As the X-station360 fanboys :LLLLLL

  • @Badham94 we do stand together...... we all hate the wii

  • @stormer55 Hahaha that's true :P

  • @Badham94 Yeah, I've been a diehard Nintendo fanboy since I was 8, and even I am not very fond of the Wii...as a mainstream gaming console. I still love playing Wii during parties, or with little children; it's just a mediocre gaming machine. I don't really have that much hope for the Wii U, either. The 3DS looks good, though, and the DS is decent.

  • @catholicgamer99 Hmm I've actually changed my views in the past half a year. I have the 3DS and I felt like I made a mistake until Ocarina of Time 3D was released XD I'm really glad I've got the 3DS now.

And Wii was bad because 3rd party companies only made party games on it mainly due to only one analogue stick and the power of the machine was quite low. Wii U fixes this as it has all the buttons that ps3/xbox have + the touch screen and it's about 50% more powerful than the PS3.

  • @Badham94 The problem that I have with it is, its only marginally more powerful than today's consoles, and it's supposed to be next-gen. I'm worried that it will have the same main problem as the Wii, where it won't be powerful enough to handle the major multiplatform games. Most of the 3rd-party games announced for it, so far, are ports of games that can be played on current machines (mainly by EA). The touch screen also worries me; I don't want to pay $100 for a controller.

  • @catholicgamer99 The Wii U's main advantage is that it's coming out before Sony & Microsoft's next systems. I'm guessing that the Wii U will receive a lot of 3rd-party support during its first year or two, but that novelty will wear off when PS4 & Xbox 720 are released.

Still, I have to give it credit for how innovative the controller is, and how you can play on the controller instead of the TV. And yes, it has two analog sticks and plenty of buttons, unlike the WiiMote + Nunchuk.

  • @catholicgamer99 The Classic Controller & GameCube Controller had two analog sticks & plenty of buttons as well, but unfortunately, most 3rd-party devs seemed to be unaware that they even existed. I guess that Nintendo promoted the WiiMote too much, insisting that it must be used with every Wii game, and the hassle of implementing WiiMote controls (which is incredibly difficult) made most 3rd-party devs forget about the Classic Controller.

  • @catholicgamer99 Yeah that's true. The controller's probably going to be expensive. However it's only single-touch like the DS, which is apparently a lot cheaper to make than multi-touch and mutliplayer games use 1 Wii U controller and 3 Wii controlers (I think). So you'll never need more than one controller, unless it gets broken!

And that's true, we'll have to wait and see for the games, the Touch screen will hopefully pull in some good exclusives that use it. Like TWEWY for DS.

  • @Badham94 Some multiplayer games will probably require two Wii U controllers, like Madden, for example.

To me, the Wii U's biggest potential strength (apart from coming out earlier than PS4 & 720) is how the controller is used. Imagine how awesome it would be to play Madden with a friend on Wii U. You could quickly select plays from a vast, intuitive playbook, as well as editing a play right before the ball is snapped, without the other player even seeing what you're doing.

  • @catholicgamer99 That's a pretty good point.

Did you ever play Crystal Chronicles (the original) on the Gamecube? The multiplayer mode used GBA's as a controller and allowed each player to have their own inventry and menu on the GBA screen and edit stuff without having to pause the game for the other player. Was a pretty cool feature, the Wii U can be used in a similar way, but much more advanced because of the bigger screen and touch screen controls.

  • @catholicgamer99 looks like a dumb ipad. Nintendo is turning into sega

  • @Fuckingflesheater What's wrong with a controller that looks like an iPad?

  • @catholicgamer99 What's GOOD about a controller that looks like an iPad?

  • @badkiller2 What's BAD about it? Why does it even matter? It has buttons (plenty in fact), as well as two Circle Pads (which are basically analog sticks, like the one on the 3DS), so you can't complain about lack of buttons either.

  • @catholicgamer99 Are we talking about the same console? Because i'm pretty sure we are talking about the Wii U, which is a TABLET, aren't we?

  • @badkiller2 A tablet with buttons. Again, what's so wrong with that?

If you're going to make an argument, you gotta back it up with something other than, "looks like a dumb ipad".

  • @catholicgamer99 Because it's stupid to play this way.If I wanted to play like an iPad, i'd get a fucking iPad.

It should have a normal controller, or atleast an option to switch to one like in the Wii. Sure, PSPVita does it, and NDS does it too, but they are PORTABLE consoles, it's what they are meant for. WiiU is a home console, thus the idea of your remote being a table is ridiculous, as you have a big TV screen right infront of you.

There's innovation, and then there's stupidity. This is it.

  • @badkiller2 There we go. THAT's a well-constructed argument.

I'm not worried that much about the controller, itself. On the DS, having two screens was cool and added unique possibilities to gameplay, so I would imagine that it would be the same on Wii U.

Plus, it REALLY annoys me with other consoles when I am in the middle of a game, and my family members want to use the TV. Switching the game to the Wii U controller allows me to continue playing without moving to another TV.

  • @catholicgamer99 The only thing that worries me is the price. I'm worried that the controller will make the console's price tag a bit steep. However, from what I've heard, most multiplayer games can be played with just one Wii U controller (the other players can use regular Wii remotes), so I probably won't have to buy any extra controllers.

Of course, I'm not actually planning to get a Wii U (I'm content with my PS3 & Wii), but it has potential.

  • @catholicgamer99 Right. Well, you have a basis to your argument there, but it is a pretty specific one, that does not represent the use of the console as a whole, and besides, why would you want to play HD games on such a small screen?? In fact, When you think about it, WiiU is EXACTLY like a DS, only you can connect it to a big screen, and your stuck with a big Wii-like machine that needs to be connected in order to play.

There is no innvoation here. They just plugged a DS into a Wii.

  • @badkiller2

I find that last statement to be a little unfair. It's like saying that the Vita is uninnovative because it's a handheld version of the PS3.

As for HD games on a small screen, why not? It's better than having to quickly quit and lose your save progress (or wait until later to play if you only have one good TV) because your family members want to watch a TV program that you're not interested in.

  • @catholicgamer99 There is no reason to play HD games on a small screen because it's a waste of energy and good resources. What most Handheld gaming systems lack nowadays is the ability to Multitask-- WiiU can use that to it's advantage because it has the support of a home console, but when playing on a small screen, playing 1080p resolution games on a remote that cannot show it to you makes for a waste of energy-- You can't play your games and music at the same time because the games take more.

  • @badkiller2

Well, the same can be said for any other console? Besides, I fail to see how this would affect the console as a whole, ESPECIALLY when there's no real point to listening to music and playing video games at the same time anyway (unless it's a racing game or something).

"There is no reason to play HD games on a small screen because it's a waste of energy." OK, I need more elaboration on this. What "resources" am I even wasting?

  • @catholicgamer99 I mean, on a console like, say, the PS3 for example, you have to use the XMB menu in order to select playlists/albums for music, so, IF the Wii U uses music (I say "IF" because it's really unnecessary), it would probably require you to do the same thing (except with the touch screen).

And even if the Wii U doesn't have music at all, why is it such a huge problem? You act as if it somehow defeats the purpose of a touch screen, or ruins the console entirely.

  • @catholicgamer99 It's like complaining about the Wii not having a DVD player. By the time the console was released, tons of people already owned DVD players, so I doubt that many (if any) consumers cared (aside from being unable to use the console to watch the SMG2 instructional DVD).

Likewise, by the time the Wii U comes out, any diehard music fan who can afford the Wii U will mostly likely own some sort of MP3 player.

Tons of people now own Blu-Ray players, too.

  • @badkiller2 I always thought that the whole point of choosing a console over a handheld was for better hardware, rather than "multitasking". By "better hardware", I mean things such as a better controller (I doubt the Vita's analog sticks are anywhere near as good as on a DualShock), bigger games, more storage space, better graphics, and (in some cases) better games.

I mean, look at a system like the PS3 for example. That had little to no "multitasking" in its software.

  • @catholicgamer99 OK, maybe I exaggerated in the previous comment, but there is a lack of multitasking in the PS3 (which, for the record, is my go-to system). I can't chat with people across different games, I can't send text messages during gameplay (unless I'm playing Little Big Planet), I can't do video chat during gameplay (having a small square in the corner of the screen where I could see the other player would be nice)...the list goes on.

  • @badkiller2 Besides, I'm pretty sure that you will be able to do all of the things that you just mentioned, anyway. Based on your comment, I'm guessing that you are unaware that playing the game on the controller's screen is COMPLETELY optional; you can just play the game on the TV and use the touch screen as some sort of gameplay aid, just like in DS games. I'm hoping that you could also use this screen to "multitask" and access other files such as music.

  • @catholicgamer99 For the love of all that is right man, Stop writing so much for one response, it's giving me a headache. FYI, Only rich people use BluRay players.

Multitask is important, because gaming systems no longer do just GAMING. They strive to do everything. If they do not, they are defeating their own purpose and thus prove the PC to be the superior each and every time. Also, did you even look at the WiiU's remote?? That thing is anything but comfortable.

    Think about it. Not re-response.

  • @badkiller2 It's giving you a headache because it's too convoluted to you. You just cannot escape the mindset of "gaming systems need to multitask", and you totally ignored my argument about the PS3 not having multitasking. Plus, your argument makes no sense, as PC's have ALWAYS have always allowed you to multitask MORE than consoles ever have.

Also, the PC IS generally viewed as superior. People buy consoles for exclusives and cheaper technology.

  • @catholicgamer99 It's somewhat insulting to even compare consoles to PC's, and PC's are in a league of their own. In fact, consoles wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for PC's.

  • @catholicgamer99 Stop treating me like a fool, I know what I said, and P3 CAN multitask. Not send messages during game? Bullshit. i did it all the time, even had chat mid-way through a gameplay of MGO. You can play music in the BG too, it's just that some games don't allow it, nothing to do with the system. the PS3 has 8 cores. 8!!!

And no, you actually gave me a headache because you wrote FOUR posts. Dear god, ever heard of SUMMARIZE?!

And I know the PC is superior, I own a gaming rig. so chill.

  • @badkiller2

Yes, it has some multitasking, but it does not have the type of multitasking that you claim that the Wii U should have. You have to access the XMB menu in order to send messages and listen to music, which requires PAUSING the game.

Cores do not affect multitasking, loading screens, or framerate. That is what a GPU is for. I'm pretty sure that cores only affect the number of objects & effects that can simultaneously occur on-screen during gameplay.

  • @catholicgamer99 And I'm sorry that I can't summarize such a huge amount of information and statements in less than 500 characters. No need to get mad, I never called you anything.

  • @catholicgamer99 The ONLY PS3 game that I played that allowed me to send text messages without accessing an on-screen keyboard is Little Big Planet 2. And I own Uncharted 2 & 3, Warhawk, ModNation Racers, Madden NFL 11, MAG, Battlefield 1943, and Portal 2 as well.

Since when was music so important with consoles, anyway? Sure, the PS3, PSP, and 360 may have it, but I seriously doubt that it was a major selling point.

  • @catholicgamer99 Writing without pausing? Well how exactly am I supposed to do that?!? Don't be ridiculous, we are losing direction here.

The WiiU is flawed because it does nothing to provide advancement, and also, you say I ignore what you say, yet what about the remote being an ugly piece of crap? No comment on that??

Also, you are wrong. Loading times relies on how you load your game. It's slower on PS3 because the BluRay format works that way. GPU handles graphics and framerate, no GPU.

  • @badkiller2 Well, if I'm not mistaken, that's exactly what you said that the Wii U should do. You basically said, "Well, you can't use the touch screen to access music during gameplay, so therefore it sucks." If I AM mistaken, and you are expecting the Wii U to have multitasking similar to the PS3, then I would assume that it WILL have that.

As for the controller, you can't determine how it feels based on a few images on the internet.

  • @catholicgamer99 I remember seeing the original Wii remote in pictures in catalogs, thinking, "How am I supposed to play with this." When I tried it at GameStop, however, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it felt.

I didn't respond earlier because it sounded like you were posting it as a small, minor side point, rather than a fundamental component to your argument.

  • @catholicgamer99 "number of objects & effects that can simultaneously occur on-screen during gameplay."

    THAT IS MULTI-TASKING.

See, I can post multiple comments too!

  • @badkiller2 No, it is not. Notice how I typed, "during gameplay". In other words, I'm referring to things that happen in a game. Like, for example, the number of particle effects that can occur in several explosions simultaneously without the game crashing.

GPU affects load times, which is important because the menus required to send messages take WAY too long to load.

In Little Big Planet 2, you can simply type & send messages during gameplay without using any menus. Just saying.

  • @catholicgamer99 of course GPU affects load times, but Disc format is extremely important because the game is loaded from the disc. PS3 has a better custom graphics card, being a newer model, but XBOX games still load faster. That's how important.

And if you say you were comfy with the WiiU, good for you, a matter of opinion I guess, but I've played nearly every Portable system out there but the VITA and 3DS, and all of them felt annoying with their big screen versions.

    As for LBP2, I'll check.

  • @badkiller2 You simply use a keypad attachment. As you press keys, they appear in a tiny box on the bottom left corner of the screen. Pressing ENTER causes the message to appear above your character's head.

  • @catholicgamer99 That is, assuming I have a keyboard connected to a PS3. Which I don't.

  • @badkiller2 So you use the on-screen keyboard to type messages, right?

  • @catholicgamer99 Correct. I write suprisingly fast too. Then again, I have bneen using a Dualshock for well over 12 years, so....

  • @Badham94 So I have a lot of hope for the Wii U, especially since all the 3rd party developers seem excited about it.

The next Xbox and PS will most likely be more powerful, but do they have The Legend of Zelda? ;)

I'm not really a fan of any console now, I'll probably end up getting Wii U and most likely the next PS. Microsoft doesn't offer anything that I actually enjoy. I'm not much of an FPS fan though so that's probably why.

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • no it's the 40gig, I know it's not backwards compatible, but that's not the point - it knows it's a ps2 disc in the drive, if it knows it's a ps2 disc why the fuck couldn't it just play it?

  • No, I don't lie to myself sir, I'm perfectly content with my purchase, I don't need to go trolling on the internet to prove that my purchase is better. Those words just make me want to stay away from Xbox even more, since people like you play it. So please don't buy a Playstation 3, I really don't want you ruining my online experience.

    Thank you

  • I own a PS3, thanks. Resistance 2 was mediocre at best.

  • I bought the collectors edition for 25 bucks off my friend.

Pretty good for 25 bucks. And the Chimera is pretty cool too.

  • if resistance was mediocre halo and gears were dog shit

  • Halo WAS dog shit lool.

  • @cloudu7 Yeah its true,i had a 360 my best move ever was selling that and getting myself a PS3,this hype about PS3 "sucks" dont believe it.Haters only hate on things they cant have.
