@djcheff I'm nuts? I do apologize if I offended your "knowledge" of track and field. It's one thing to run 400's in training to increase aerobic capacity, but the same can be said for every runner. An 800m runner like myself with a current PR of 1:52.7, hopefully this legitimizes what I'm saying, will run mile repeats in order to boost stamina. But I would never consider myself a mile runner, for the same reasons that Bolt does not consider himself a 400m runner.

Bolt did announce that he will try to break the 400 WR as well, but... will he succeed? Probably not. going back to what you said, he is built and focuses too much on the 100m and 200m to even think about breaking the 400m WR.

I have to disagree. Usain Bolt will never break 44. He will stick to his guns, the 100 and 200, leaving the REAL athletes to duke it out in the middle distance events. I don't mean to discredit Bolt's success in the shorter sprints and his amazing world records, but he just doesn't have the stamina or drive to be an elite 400 runner. Wariner and Merritt will go 1-2 in London, in that order.

although i admit distance running is hardcore, and to run anything over an 800m at full blast takes some serious balls, you can't discredit the sprinters..

if long distance runners are the "real" athletes then they should easily be able to do whatever the sprinters do, since sprinters aren't "real" athletes.

sprinters go through a lot of perseverance both during practice and competitions, i went from distance to sprints myself, so i know both sides
