  • thats cool i know lionel did some OO gauge sets back in the 1930s they made a more then few of the scale nyc 4-6-4 hudson sets thats would be my favorte one if i had any OO i think you would like that they made them in 2 rail & 3 rail OO i collect 3 rail o gauge lionel train sets from the prewar postwar era are mine but i got some modern lionel sets for my kids

  • Nice la out

  • 1:01, i swear the locomotive slammed the roof of the slate tunnel

  • Perfect :)

  • @drwhotrainfan - Yes, I've got a few. Search for 'Ribe Valley Railway' and you will see them in some of the other videos.

  • I don't know anything about hornby trains but that is a really good track! One question, how does it still work even after leaving it outside in the rain?

  • @Madmanluke12 - Nickel silver track won't rust so that is fine outside. I put copper grease on the joints as well, which is conductive. You do have to give the rails a good clean each time you run it, but that doesn't take long. I find the old 'not so scale' locos and rolling stock work best, as they have larger and wider wheels. It will have been outside for 4 years this year. I don't leave the locos and wagons outside of course. Cheers!

  • Nice to see the old Tri-ang locos in action, well done.

  • whats the song

  • @CGRAY93 - It's Garry Numan - Tracks

  • Have you made any new lines on you layout

  • Do you still have the layout in the garden or has it goon now

  • Hi, Yes it's still running fine for over three years. Cheers!

  • great layout!

  • that is simply awesome, when its winter u could have 4 of those little engines and a plow :P

  • what do you put on the track for the rain, dew, snow etc.?

  • Hi, I don't. The track is nickel silver, so it won't rust and the plastics are hardwearing. It just needs a going over with a track rubber before the days running. It's been out there nearly three years now and still runs fine. I've only had a small problem with a warping bridge. Cheers!

  • excellent work. I love it. If i were you though, I would run them a bit slower like at 2:33. poor train at the end :)

  • Thanks for your comments. I'm pleased you like it. I usually do run them slower, but I used the fast footage to go with the music. Although sometimes you film them and the look as if they are going a lot faster than they really are. Have a look at some of my other videos of the line, which show slower running. Cheers! :-)

  • Brilliant! You're right, the stations, houses and people can look tacky - instantly.

What a wonderful contrast to the "stale air" environment of the indoor set-ups.

Why not set this up in a greenhouse?

  • Hi, Thanks for you comments. A greenhouse may be nice in the fact it would keep the tracks cleaner, but it would probably cook! Its still running nicely after two years and I'm currently working on weathering my locos. Then I'll have to start on the stock! lol Cheers! :-)

  • Gary numan awesome!

  • Thx man! You have great garden train! I have lot of H0-s, it looks like the same scale!

  • Thanks again. Yes oo & ho use the same scale of track, so you could set one up. Just remember to use Nickel Silver track - I used Peco Streamline. Cheers! :-)

  • These are RC or electric trains?

  • 12v Electric. I use copper grease on the rail joints, which prevents a built up of dirt in the joint especially over winter. I did intend to solder wire across the joints, but this was a bit fiddly so I just left it to the copper grease. If I encounter any problems, which I have not yet, I will simply just replace that section of track or take it out and clean it up as it is just screwed down with brass screws between the sleepers.

  • Awesome idea! But what about the weather?

  • It's been out there two years now and still runs fine. Even better than I expected, as all the Garden railway books & mags don't recommend an oo scale garden railway. The locos and stock only go outside when running, but I've had no problem with these either. I also elevated the layout to avoid debris on the track. I tend to use the old cheaper less accruate locos as these are best for this and can deal with any dirt etc. Cheers for your comments. Phil

  • Is it really H0???

  • Well it's oo actually.

  • Amazing achievement, Very well done!

  • i mean for the track....how do u protect them from the elements?

  • I used Peco Steamline Nickel Silver track, which can be used outdoors and should last quite a few years before the plastics give up the ghost. I do have to give the rail surface a good go with a track rubber before each running though.

  • he.....im planning to do the same thing but with ON30....i am having trouble finding an effective way to fasten the track to the ground...also how do i deal with weathering?

  • I screwed the track down to the cement trackbed using brass screws and then painted them black. As for weathering, do you mean the locos or the rocks etc? Cheers, Phil Q

  • with all that slate, it would make a great mine! good vid

  • Great filming and lovely line - inspired I am! Also, what an unusual collection of locos! Great!!

  • i wish i had a backyard.

  • Hi, I like your little garden line. It has buckets of charm and character! I also love your stock and locos - small is beautiful. Who says 00 gauge is 'too small' for the garden! Bravo.

  • woo hoo go tri-ang!! i love em but my mates hate em. what brand/type of track did you use?

  • Hi, Yep I just love Tri-ang. I used Peco Streamline Nickel Silver. I haven't had any problems with the flanges being to large, except with the DMU, which just about touched the rail clips. Cheers for you comments! :-)

  • Yea i have ran mine a bit today!

Then the black clouds started to appear after a while haha

  • Yeah me too, but it was a tad too windy! Cheers! :-)

  • I Must say that is a very good first attempt.

    Good luck with it mate!

  • Hi, Cheers for your comments! I'm really pleased to hear that. Just need some good weather now to run it! lol Cheers again, philq

  • GOOD SONG

  • As ever - Awesome!
