  • Next time reduce the fancy editing swipes....it's annoying....

  • Yuk

  • Wow...surgery is awesome!

  • Amazing. How do you perform TEE on this awake pt?

  • This sort of put me off every considering being a surgeon, i'm not one to get squeamish at blood & all but it just looks so odd

  • @tvrulesnation

well my dear freind I could not get you.

every video does'nt get appreciation from everybody, one need to understand the message .

  • great data but your video editing skills just annoyed the hell out of 10 people at the same time!

  • @atheist0402

    hi,

I did'nt get you. can you elaborate

  • @kshitijdubey1974 what i mean is, me and my classmates, along with our instructor were watching this on the classroom, and the information would have been great if only you didnt use so many transitions that it wasnt distracting anymore,it was annoying..halfway past the clip, were not even concentrating on the film itself anymore, were trying to outguess each other what kind of transition would come up next..sorry mate, your video editing skills killed the wonderful information you have in it..

  • What's the benefit of having the patient awake during the surgery? Is it just a safer anesthetical practice? I've witnessed about a dozen regular CABGs and beating heart ones under regular anesthesia, but this is a 1st for me.

  • @frambesbuckeye

using regional anaesthesia avoids general anarsthesia, endotracheal intubation and all problems related to either. It,s just a fast tracking tool. reduces ionotropic requirement, & its sympatholytic effect stabilizes heart rate as well as blood pressure during procedure.

  • So you didn't stop the heart? Is stopping the heart an old technique that you don't need to do anymore? I noticed there was that thing connected to the heart that kept that specific portion of the heart from moving while you work on it. That's pretty cool.

  • @ninjajesus81

That's what beating heart surgery is all about. The instrument that stabilize target area is called octopus.

  • hi there regards,

m working as resident cardiology....how is it possible to replace any of the valve with out going on pump?

  • @criticaldoc

hi, in these videos we are showing cardiac surgery can be done under regional anesthesia hence eleminating general anst. All valves are done on pump. CABG can be done off pump as shown in the video

  • Cardio nurse here... I work with these pts alot and I was wondering when the heart is beating is there a greater chance of arrythmias such as vtach vfib or the occasional pvcs versus the traditional technique... Or do the meds given aid in the relaxation of the cardiac muscles.... Very interesting video

  • @cjudesaenz

    hi there regards,

pvc's are there but if you place the intracoronary shunt quickly it allows distal perfusion & since there is no ischaemia therefore no major arrythmias.

  • How long did this Surgery Take?

  • 3 to 4 hours

  • i remember assisting on a CABG , made me numb!

    amazing.

  • ya that's true. I feel beating heart surgery is by far the most intense & thrilling surgery

  • back pain and leg sore too!

  • That is phenominal. I'm taking this Intro to Health Science & Technology classand we're working on CAD and CABG, and let's say this video helped me a lot with my project. Truly amazing

  • Thanks heidi what sort of project on CAD and CABG are you doing?

  • Pakistani Doctors are wonderful Dr. Khalid Hameed was my surgeon, tripple vessles Disease 5 passes done in 1:20 mins. After 13 years, my grafting is piece of art. That is What Canadian Doctors tell me.

  • Sir i would like to thanks you all..my father (Mr. Kailashchandra )recovering very fast after CABG..this is a great video, from here i came to know about the surgery..

  • how long the operation takes place? here in our hosp. using the hear-lung machine the least is 4 hours.

  • well freind, it depends on how many grafts are to be done, what areconduits planned, which are vessles to be grafted. whether onpump or offpump, what is pt's lvef.usually if you plan awake surgery IMA harvesting is to be done extra pleuraly sparing pleura which is time consuming. usually a four graft case requires 6 hrs including anaesthetist time.

  • i seldom hear an active heart during cabg.... well done guyz...

  • thanks a lot we here do almost all over cases on beating heart

  • More videos like this (only for physicians) at symposier (.com)

  • We have uploaded videos on aortic & mitral valve replacement with chordee preservation as well as total arterial off pump awake surgeries. you can go through. thanks

  • i need to have a valve replaced as it is to narrow and leaks, i also have a 2nd degree blockage . just worried on the recovering pain and the chances of any mistakes occuring during the operation going to get it proberbly within the next 6 months

  • which valve needs replacement? 2nd degree block means AV block? i suppose. usually with thoracic epidural anaesthesia there is no pain perceived in post operative period . thanks

  • My husband just had cabg by 6 - it was nice to have an idea of what actually went on in the OR.....

  • thanks a lot

  • Awesome!! Very Clear!

  • thanks a lot

  • Super !!

    Thank you
