No doubt about it, Conduit was the class horse of this field. I've always felt that the combination of carrying a 6lb. penalty against the rest of this field, combined with the cut back in trip from 12f to 10f is why Cima De Triomphe beat Conduit in this race. I've alway felt that Conduit was a better horse over a 12f trip than he was over a 10f trip, and his career record bears that fact out. JMO.
But keep in mind that CIMA DE TRIOMPHE moved by three countries -Italy, France and England- before running in this competition. This showed that his debut at Sandown was brilliant.
