Hi Kateri, I heard a person say once during prayer he expressed to God how sorry he was to only use his own words and lean on the rosary. The reply he got was, even though I love you dearly, do you really suspect you know how to ask me better than my blessed mother? Don't be foolish. Use the rosary if you want to.
Who was present among the gospel writers the whole life of Jesus to record the story? None of them. Mary was the only one present at every stage. Often the gospel writer says, and she kept all these things in her heart. How would they know this? SHE TOLD THEM. Mary is the back writer of the whole gospel. Not prominent? Give me a break.
@7propitious I ask that you read scripture(God's Word)and follow what it says. The BIBLE SAYS: NOBODY is sinless, yet the catholic church says Mary is sinless. The BIBLE SAYS: JESUS ONLY redeemed us of our sins, yet the catholic church says that Mary is the co-redeemer.If Mary was so important, the BIBLE would've emphasized her death..NOBODY knows when she died!! But then again, the catholic church doesn't believe that the BIBLE is sufficient enough, so they created their own.GIVE ME A BREAK !!
@jaytami52504 I ask that you not claim that I don't read the bible as this is a common attack against Catholics. I have probably read it more than you. Your interpretation of the passage you are using against Mary is incorrect. There is another person who was fully man that you are calling a sinner by your interpretation. Jesus is true God and true MAN. He is of the subset of ALL. So please go back and think about it some more.
Some more science related to why Mary was taken into heaven. Mothers, due to the nature of fluids passed between mother and baby, carry their children in their blood their whole lives. Every mother still carries part of their children till they pass on. Jesus was still present in her at her end.
I pray not only the standard rosary you are holding, but other rosary patterns. I typically do the 20 mysteries twice a day. I also do the standard rosary using the Divine Mercy pattern at 3 pm in honor of Jesus's passion. Finally I do the Holy Face Rosary which is a completely different pattern of beads which is on my channel.
@KateriofMnisota I find my daily walk the perfect time. My mind isn't active anyway, except trying to not trip over my own feet. My typical 4 mile walk the pace is 20 mysteries. Its perfect for me. Keeps me from mind wandering too.
The Catholic also views The Virgin Mary as "sinless". The Bible clearly states that we are ALL sinners. Mary is no exception. Catholic church says that for Jesus Christ to be born into this world, he would've had to be born from a sinless "source". But if this is the case, then Mary's mom would've had to be sinless, and then Mary's grandmother, greatgrandmother and so forth. This teaching contradicts the Bible which raised a red flag in my eyes. Thats when I started questioning......God Bless
@jaytami52504 You may be interested in my video about Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant, a concept that comes straight from Luke. It is not Catholic teaching that Mary's parents were sinless, only that God preemptively saved Mary from sin in order to prepare her to be the pure vessel for His Son. When you realize how holy God is, it can only make sense that Mary had to be as pure a vessel as the ark.
@KateriofMnisota The BIBLE says...ALL fall short of the Glory of God. The BIBLE also mentions that if you should think anybody is sinless, the truth is not in you. God didn't have to adhere to the "sinful" nature of us humans and make Mary "sinless" to send His son Jesus. God would not contradict himself. He wouldn't say that nobody is sinless and then create Mary to be sinless. God is perfect. No faults or errors. God brought Christ to us sinless despite coming out of a sinful human. God bless.
@jaytami52504 No, scripture says that if we claim that we are without sin, the truth is not in us. I would be a liar if I said I was sinless. How do you explain Luke's comparison of Mary to the Ark of the Covenant?
@jaytami52504 Sorry to disagree but God started out with sinless people. Sin entered the world by Adam.....until he bit of the forbidden fruit he and Eve were sinless and so would all of us been.
Jesus tells us to be perfect as God is perfect, how do you do that if we can not be sinless? Would Jesus tell us to do something we can not do?
When you change the context of scripture to meet your beliefs it is only then you have a conflict. Catholics do not have this conflict...
@jaytami52504 Elizebeth uses the same words to question Mary that David uses in 2 Sam 6:9 when he knows he is presented with the Holy Ark that was venerated and contained within it the word of God.Nowhere else in Scripture does an angel 'Hail ...the Lord is with you'Lk 1:28.Even when angels meet Kings or prophets.God clearly choose Mary to be the Mother of God because she was worthy and Holy.
...'all generations shall call me blessed' Lk 1:48
@yellowballpoets Once, Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd proclaimed, “Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed” (Luke 11:27). There was never a better opportunity for Jesus to declare that Mary was indeed worthy of praise and adoration. What was Jesus’ response? “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it” (Luke 11:28). To Jesus, obedience to God’s Word was more important than being the woman who gave birth to the Savior.learn
@jaytami52504 >>>" On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it” (Luke 11:28)
No, that's not what Jesus said. That particular antiCatholic rendering is in error. And to repeat that error is to declare the words of Gabriel & Elizabeth as lies. Is that what you want to do?
The event is described using the Greek "menounge", Strong's 3304. It means "yes, but more than that" or "yes, but in addition". Look it up, then discard that corrupt antiCatholic bible version.
@yellowballpoets Nowhere in Scripture does Jesus, or anyone else, direct any praise, glory, or adoration towards Mary. Elizabeth, Mary’s relative, praised Mary in Luke 1:42-44, but her praise is based on the blessing of giving birth to the Messiah. It was not based on any inherent glory in Mary.
@yellowballpoets Mary was present at the cross when Jesus died (John 19:25). Mary was also with the apostles on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:14). However, Mary is never mentioned again after Acts chapter 1. The apostles did not give Mary a prominent role. Mary’s death is not recorded in the Bible. Nothing is said about Mary ascending to heaven or having an exalted role there. As the earthly mother of Jesus, Mary should be respected, but she is not worthy of our worship or adoration.
@jaytami52504 Mary is in heaven in Revelation 11:19 and as continues into chapter 12. The reason you don't know this is you don't understand she is the ark of the covenant.
@jaytami52504 Mary is the ark of the covenant. A more perfect version than the old testament one. She holds in herself, the bread come down from heaven (Jesus) which is the new manna, The rod of the High Priest (Jesus is high priest) and the commandments in flesh rather than stone. She is 'pure gold' stainless and not to be touched. Remember in the OT the man who steadied the ark, died.
@jaytami52504 Mary is full of grace. That means not 10 percent or 20 percent, FULL of grace. Not her mother or grandmother. Mary is full of grace. That means no sin by grace. She had to be that way for a reason. Women contain all the eggs they will ever have at their own beginning. That means Jesus was already present in her before she was born. Science didn't even know this fact till the last few decades. Amazing huh?
@jaytami52504 further, if you go back to the book of Numbers, chptr 4. Read how the priests took great care of the ark. They carried it in front of the nation WRAPPED in a cloth, essentially blue. They didn't even LOOK at it.
@jaytami52504 1. Actually to say "all have sinned" would have to include Jesus as well since you say "all have sinned." Then this would include infants who die would die in sin as well and would be condemned to hell. I do not think you are willing to say that Jesus sinned or that infants die and go to hell because they have sinned, So with that you have already made two exceptioins to "all have have sinned."
@jaytami52504 2. Your Catholic theology is wrong as well. By saying that Mary's mother and grand mother would be sinless shows you only parrot what you read without actually seeing what the Church teaches. The Immaculate Conception only applies to Mary as clearly taught by the Church. Just a little honest research would relieve you from making such mistakes. Thanks
@jaytami52504 Let me see if I understand you. You think that God would choose a sinner to carry him in her womb? What exactly do you think "Blessed among women" (Luke 1:28, 1:42) means? If we are all sinners how is she more blessed then all others? What makes Mary distinct to God since it is him that choose her?
God can create the universe and can not make 1 person sinless?.....Oh my Bad....Adam and Eve were made sinless too until temptation struck.
The bible may say we are all sinners (Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:10) but it also we are not all born sinners because Adam and Eve were not born into sin. They caused all to become sinners (1 Corinthians 15:22, Romans 5:12,15-16, 18-19).
Jesus was not born into sin even though scripture does not say it. Mary also was not born into sin even though scripture does not say it.
The sin you are talking about is personal sin, not original sin.
"Catholic church says that for Jesus Christ to be born into this world, he would've had to be born from a sinless "source". Mary's mom would've had to be sinless."
It does not teach this at all, so you should not say it. Orignal sin has nothing to do with Mary's parents. God created Mary free from orignal sin just like he created Adam and Eve free from original sin.
This history behind this teaching comes from the Early Church Fathers...
There are two passages in Scripture which point us to this truth. We look first at Genesis 3.15, in which we see the parallel between Mary and Eve of which the early Church Fathers already spoke: "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed: he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." The Jews saw this passage as referring to the struggle between Christ and Satan, and so the Church see in "the woman" ...
@jaytami52504 ...a prophetic foreshadowing of the Virgin Mary (Vatican II, Lumen gentium, # 55).
If there is to be complete enmity between the woman and the serpent, then she never should have been in any way subject to him (Satain) even briefly. This implies an Immaculate conception.
We turn to the early Fathers of the Church. Many, not all of them, make sweeping statements about her holiness. The church ultimately believed God preserved Mary from original sin...
...the objections which had long obscured the content of divine revelation began to be overcome. This was due especially to the work of the Franciscan, Venerable John Duns Scotus. He showed that for God to preserve Mary from original sin was a greater redemption than to allow her to fall into it and then rescue her. Scotus wrote (cited from J. B. Carol, Mariology I, 368): ...
..."Either God was able to do this, and did not will to do it, or He willed to preserve her, and was unable to do so. If able to and yet unwilling to perform this for her, God was miserly towards her. And if He willed to do it but was unable to accomplish it, He was weak, for no one who is able to honor his mother would fail to do so."
The RCC does not teach that Mary's parents were sinless as you suggest. It teaches us that God saved Mary from Adam's sin before she was born
@KateriofMnisota May I ask you what your views are of the Bible? Do you feel that it is TRULY the word of God? If so, where does the rosary fit in to the teachings of the Bible. For example....vain repetitious prayers. Prayers to Mary. Prayers to different saints. Why not pray from the heart...your own words to God, rather than memorizing a prayer and reciting it with no feeling? Just trying to understand more on a Catholics view of things.....God Bless....
@jaytami52504 I believe that scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, and training in righteousness, but I do not believe that the Bible is our sole authority. The person of Jesus Christ is TRULY the word of God. Scripture does tell us though that the saints in heaven offer our prayers to God. The rosary is not vain repetition when done correctly, it is very engaging. I do also like to just pray what's on my mind as well, both forms are valuable.
@KateriofMnisota John 1:1 says that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It also says in John 1:14,"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. With this said, The Bible is our sole authority because Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh.
After confession, why does the priest make you pray 10 Hail Mary's? What is the reason for this?
@jaytami52504 The Bible speaks of the repetative Babbling of pagans. Not prayer,in the next verse he gives us the Lords prayer to say over and over.Jesus as a jew would have been able to recite psalms by heart.Who are you to judge that our prayers are said with no feeling?
@yellowballpoets Remember, a prayer is talking to God. Right? So, if you're talking to God, whether it's asking him for guidance or thanking him for a good day, you do that ONE time.....he'll hear you. Now when you keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over.....you're pretty much saying that he didn't hear you the first time....and let me ask you......since the BIBLE says that it is Jesus Christ that we should try to be like and emulate....when does he ever pray like that?
@yellowballpoets NEVER....I do not make up anything....if you read and study and allow Christ to work in you....you'll understand....you just can't be on the DEFENSIVE all the time. Nobody is judging you....but common sense says that if you say the same thing over and over again....you memorize it......and a prayer should never be memorized....because you will "lose" a little bit of the scencerity everytime you say it. Remember, praying is talking to GOD.
@yellowballpoets Another thing, if you research.....a lot of Catholic tradition is deep rooted from Pagan beliefs! With an open heart....discover your Catholic Faith....do not try to find a Catholic answer to support your prideful thinking of the Catholic teaching. You'll never grow...God bless....
@jaytami52504 ".a lot of Catholic tradition is deep rooted from Pagan beliefs!"
Well, we know you are a follower of Alexander Hislop. Oh? You didn't know that is where your little chestnut comes from? Perhaps you would do well to read the history of your beliefs about our faith.
Yes, I really like the recitation of holy rosary because not only it is best meditation but also it contains of promises of lord Jesus and blessed mother mary that I am hoping, like a promise of whoever faithfully serve the mother of god by reciting the rosary will recieve protection and greatest graces until the hour of death which I find very exciting it really helps your heart to draw closer and closer to her divine son Jesus. Its content of promises is really true and it happening to me.
rosary was made for ppl like you....again with the solipsism...so u adapted one of if not the worse fucking form of christianity...wtf....i hope it wasnt just the rosary what made u a convert...ur like a religious whore...whats next seventh day Adventists...its just a freakin object there is nothing magical about it,,,rather than praying so much...u should try thinking for a change
@dawkinshitch - you can say such words at this time, yes there is no god exist for you but when you die that's time when you will realize god is really exist and I need him but it would be too late then by the time you died.
i really enjoy your opinions and feel like the;y match up to my orthodox catholic beliefs, this is why is am perplexed b;y you endorsing a book by Garry Wills.
@KateriofMnisota Not all catholics are from the exact same mould. I think ned262626 is of a particularly conservative mindset. While Gary Wills who has been described as "perhaps the most distinguished Catholic intellectual in America over the last 50 years" is of a more inquiring and critical mind. One of the strengths of the catholic Church is its intelectual tradition.
Hi Keterio,I still watching your videos with great interest...I love the way you explain things.I just want to encourage you to continue.I gess you must have a lot of people against you coming from a protestant background and all, but,God will be with you.Keep up with your serenity...God bless you...much love... :)

"this teaching contradicts the Bible which raised a red flag in my eyes. Thats when I started questioning"
Now that you have been told the RCC does not teach that Mary's parents were free from Original Sin, you can stop questioning what the RCC teaches.
May God bless you.

@jaytami52504
Out of curiousity, I would really like to know why you think the RCC teaches that Mary's parents were sinless?
This is absolutely false and I want to know why so many Protestants believe that the church teaches it?
What is your source for such a false belief about what the RCC teaches?

@jaytami52504 "why does the priest make you pray 10 Hail Mary's?"
My priest doesn't. So what does that make you?

@jaytami52504 "The Bible is our sole authority because Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh."
1) If that is the case, what was the 'sole authority' for the first 2-300 years after Christ? There was no 'bible'.
2) Christ and others referenced writings not found in the Bible. Point out those passages.

@jaytami52504 The Bible speaks of the repetative Babbling of pagans. Not prayer,in the next verse he gives us the Lords prayer to say over and over.Jesus as a jew would have been able to recite psalms by heart.Who are you to judge that our prayers are said with no feeling?
yellowballpoets 2 months ago
@yellowballpoets Remember, a prayer is talking to God. Right? So, if you're talking to God, whether it's asking him for guidance or thanking him for a good day, you do that ONE time.....he'll hear you. Now when you keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over.....you're pretty much saying that he didn't hear you the first time....and let me ask you......since the BIBLE says that it is Jesus Christ that we should try to be like and emulate....when does he ever pray like that?
jaytami52504 1 month ago
@jaytami52504
"when does he ever pray like that? "
Pick up a bible read what happened in the Garden of Gethsemane.
mapollo 1 month ago

Do read St. Louis-Marie Grignon de Montfort's book on the rosary: it's a blessing.

@dawkinshitch - you can say such words at this time, yes there is no god exist for you but when you die that's time when you will realize god is really exist and I need him but it would be too late then by the time you died.

@ned262626 Thanks, I don't know much about Garry Wills, this is the only book of his that I have. Is he controversial?
KateriofMnisota 4 months ago
@KateriofMnisota Not all catholics are from the exact same mould. I think ned262626 is of a particularly conservative mindset. While Gary Wills who has been described as "perhaps the most distinguished Catholic intellectual in America over the last 50 years" is of a more inquiring and critical mind. One of the strengths of the catholic Church is its intelectual tradition.

Yet another wonderful video :) I've been planning to do a video on the Rosary, its elements, and its symbolism. I think that if I ever get enough time to do it, I will link your video in the description box as another beautiful, informative explanation. May God bless you abundantly.
