And before refrigiator invented, only the way to eat fresh fish meat was to go to the sea shore.

Hamburger Steak is originally from Hamburg, Germany. Germans were poor and they had to export good steak meat. Other portion of beef became mince, and hamburger steak. It is cheap beef.
But raw fish must be very fresh. Before freezing technologie was invented, it was very luxurious to have fresh fish meat. Transporting, selecting, cutting fish meat requires very good skill to cook. That is why Sushi is expensive.

My italian friend told me there are a lot of italian restaurants in seattle but only about 1 or 2 out of 10 restaurants serve decent Italian food. i have seen very old kimchee sold at american grocery store before and i was horrorfied thinking that american people will buy that jar of kimchee and they would believe thats what its supposed to taste like.

I have been to Boston and tried 3 top Japanese restaurants there, watching guidebook at the hotel.
There were no Japanese chef or waitress in those restaurants, all of them were Chinese and Koreans.
Tasts of those restaurants were terrible ! I can say without doubt, that they are hurting reputation of Sushi.
I have tried other restaurants in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego owned by real Japanese, and their tasts were good.

There are a lot of korean movies that are being remade into hollywood versions. i doubt that kimono was changed into chima jugori just because koreans hate japanese cultures but to change is to preserve the native passaat of the original. No you are wrong that shinhwa TV event was huge in north korea. it is estimated that about 80% of north korean populations watched it live on TV at the time of broadcasting. and a lot of popular south korean pop music is also popular among north korean kids. there are north korean kids with died hair colors also and authorities have trouble enforcing because these kids are sons and daughters of elites.

Most of North Korean people cannot go to the theater, cannot watch TV without permission, cannot talk to foreigners directly.

There was a english guy who worked for north korea in north korea. and he said that north koreans consider themselves free and their country a heaven on earth. and he said he was not going to believe such propaganda for a minute however, while when he was looking at little school children of north korea on their way to school smiling and laughing. he was actually convinced that they were telling the truth. these kids had absolutely zero fear of anyone harming them in anyways.

We don't have disputes with the Phillipines. The rest mentioned above aren't quite democratic or free. South Korea was under millitary dictatorship until recently and still has plenty of government control to the media. People get arrested for putting up web sites to merely say that they like Japan (it sounds incredible, but sadly true). Russians generally like us, so it's purely diplomatic. The rest that we ruled are now VERY friendly to us (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.)
