  • We used to see this in the Redford Union School District. My favorite film episode was "The Flim-Flam Man" about phony diets.

  • You know this clip is old, because the Washington Senators are in it.

  • at 1:53, now there's a haircut you can set your watch to.

this show taught me the 4 food groups. loved this show.

  • I loved this show- btw I had a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of night train

  • I too saw this in the fourth grade, 1974! Thanks for posting. Wow, memories. I still remember some of the songs, like "Share a snack with a friend".

  • Mulligan Stew is on EBAY

  • I loved this show.I wish they could have kept the tradition going.

  • Hey, Mulligan is Justin Bieber!

  • Produced by V. "Buddy" Renfro, "five kids: Maggie (Sherry Wright), Mike (Steven Einbonder), Micki (Mion Hahm), Manny (Benjamin Sands), and Mulligan (Larry Friedman), plus one adult, Wilbur Dooright (played by Barry Michlin, who later had a minor career in movies and TV). The group went on nutritional adventures around the globe, although the series' filming usually stuck close to Lansing, Michigan (the opening sequence was filmed in MSU's football stadium.)

  • They used to force us to watch this in 3rd-4th grade circa '76-77 (a workbook to follow with it and all). Only a few years after it appeared on PBS/CTW in '72, and it was already starting to be stale. It was fun though, we did remember our 4432 food groups and some things about nutrition, although most of it is probably worthless now. The best thing was that this group of do-gooder nutrition types were supposed to be a band and always managed to get a song going, no matter how cheezy it was.

  • Looking at this now, what jumps out is how unappealing "Mulligan" is. Not the greatest move, making him the focal point.

  • We used to watch this in the 4th grade (mid 70s). Never liked the show much, but it's bringing back a lot of memories.

  • According to IMDB, this came out in 1972. I remember seeing this in 4th grade, which would have been a few years later. It didn't look dated then, but by the time my brother saw it in the early 80s it looked hopelessly dated. They don't still show this to 4th graders, do they? It might be interesting to see who saw this in school and when to see how late it was shown.

  • @ebob1967 they showed this to us in the 4th grade, which was 1993-1994 for me.

  • I used to love this show when they showed it in school. I remember the gasp my whole class made when we saw one of us in the show (Mikki).

  • Do you remember the comic book that they also gave out? We made the no-bake cookies in the back, and they were incredible. Raw foodists ahead of their time.

  • I thought I was the only one who remembered the comic - I seem to recall it had the words to the songs they sang too!

  • Yes, I have one that came with the dvd from ebay.

  • I remember this show is school it was sucky.......

  • my aunt is the one with blonde hair and pig tails, she recently passed away. it is nice to be able to see her as a child.

  • Wow. This is the second cast member from the show that we have heard about. Can you tell me what her name was?

  • yeah, her name was sheryl "sherry" wright, she played maggie

  • @kristinmil Kristin, I knew Sherry some years ago, in the 80's, we were close. I have just learned of Sherry's passing as I was out of the country when the sad event occurred. I would appreciate it if you would let me know if it is ok to send your Aunt Louise a note and some roses. I used to bring Sherry a dozen white ones. I am not sure if her mom will remember me after all this time, but I would not want her to be upset.

  • Who else from the show is gone? Wilbur was middle aged back then so I'm assuming him. Sad to hear about 'Maggie' passing away, she was probably not much older than me.

  • @eartant

According to IMDB Wilbur is still alive..he was born in 1941.

  • 6:01 - Ted Williams!!!

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES Her name was Sherry Louise Wright.

  • Oh, no! I'm sorry to hear that! I'm 46 and watched this show in 3rd and 4th grades...she couldn't have been any older than me. What did she pass away from? I'm very sorry.

  • @kristinmil

Words cannot express how deeply shocked and saddened to learn of your Aunt Sherry's passing. I was a 4-H member back in 4th Grade of elementary school, and participation in the Mulligan Stew program was one of our activities. And "Maggie" (Sherry) was my favorite of all the Mulligan Stew Kids. She was such a cute kid. I used to have a childhood crush on her back then.

  • oops Manny IS MY DAD!

he is a music teacher in DC

  • Mannie IS MY DAD!

  • awesome

  • hahahahahahaha my friends dad is mike the person in the white turtle neck shirt and the cap hahahaha that is funny...

  • Where is he living now?

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES I would like to personally thank you for posting Mulligan Stew on YouTube. To be honest, I had been wondering if I hadn't actually dreamed up the show myself because no one else among my friends remembers the show at all. I had a terrible crush on Maggie (the blonde with pig-tails) and have often wondered who she was. I learned just now that she's passed on. Alas. Anyway, thank you for your posts! I'll be sure to share Mulligan Stew with my grandson who is now 9 years old.

  • Right on! I haven't seen this since the 3rd grade! I always wanted to see it again. Thanks for posting!

  • It's been many years since I've seen "Mulligan Stew". The Danger Zone episode is the one that stuck with me.If it weren' for this site, I may not of seen it again.

  • good information

    I thought this was lost

only PBS owned this back in the 70's

    watched this in school

  • 4-4-3-2!!! That's the formula for me and you.

  • I watched this stuff in school in the early 70's. Long time no see.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • haha holy crap...we used to watch this in elementary school. cheesiest program in history. kinda cool that its here though

  • I totally remember this from grade school! We all knew all the songs--I still remember the lyrics. 4-4-3-2...Thanks so much for posting it!

  • They should have had a cross-over with the Honeycomb hideout kids.

  • Man! You gotta eat breakfast!

  • Some have asked me where I got this. Someone was selling it on Ebay.

  • You interested in re-selling it?
