Great job Bobby! That was the nicest version of "Maria". You don't hear many players, play the original cut like that one. They always play the version that Maynard did later in the 60's. The "Maynard '62" version is the best version!
I love how Bobby told the audience to stop applauding for him so they didn't applaud over the bari solo. What a gentleman, well, until he yelled crap haha
That's a very difficult ending. It's an ear thing - the set NEVER feels right with what you've been hearing/resonating. The only times I "nailed" that ending (in performance) was playing for a high school and at a Maynard tribute I had with Patrick Hession in Louisville - but I play it every gig. I'm glad to see that even a master like Bobby has experienced the same. Just goes to show how great Maynard was.
I didn't say I always mess it up - I just said I don't always "nail it". Perhaps I should have said I've only performed it one time in a manner I couldn't improve upon. Why play it? I love the tune.

Shew's third valve stuck. He said something like, "made in Japan." He plays a Yamaha.

Shew is a monster. I wonder what he said to the audience after he screwed up that made them laugh?

He fucked up big time at the end. May be he was tired.

why play it at every gig if you mess up the ending everytime?
