Paul O'Connel is a second row like many other in the history of the Game, Fabien Pelous won 4 grand slams, 2 Hcup, played one RWC final and defeat four times the Kiwis.
Because we had a new team last year with young players such as Kearney, Bowe, Fitzgerald, Wallace, O'Leary, Heaslip, Ferris, Healy, Sexton come in to the squad in the last two years to join the more experienced players such as BOD,POC etc. Ireland has taken longer to produce the players needed for this high standard because our playing population is a lot smaller than other countries. Fabien Pelous played in a great TEAM, POC is a much better player, only Matfield is better in the world.
Mate I have no problems admiting Ireland were terrible in the Amateur era. But since the dawn of the Pro Era Ireland put in place the new provicial system whch allowed us to keep all our best players in Ireland and to bulid Academies which helped to spot and develop new talent like never before. Since then Ireland has been steadily improving from the bottom of the table to finishing second behind the French to finally winning last year. Ireland will continue to improve with more people playing.
