I really love to hand-shift a sportscar, but you cant anymore, nearly all brands only offer automatic gearboxes in their sportscars, except porsche and corvette

The Corvette is lighter and has more power than the F430 so in a straight line the Vette would be faster but take them around a track and that's a different story.
To the average Joe the F430 would be the easier car to drive around a track but for the racing driver he can use freedom of power more to his advantage whereas it would destroy a normal driver.
This is what im talking about all these $300,000+ cars are just a name,,chevy gives people a $76,000 car that smokes murcilagos, ferrari, bmw, mercedes, all those other big car names that people suck up to are not shit compared to some american muscle. The main difference is exclusivity. Chevrolet produces thousands of Corvettes each year on assembly lines, whereas Lambo and Ferrari hand-build each car; they're aren't any assembly lines. Those cars are the epitome of craftsmanship.

Its raw it can be 8 liters if necessary like a 502 big block, but most of the time thats not necessary, but anyway the point is V8 is the ultimate motor and a V8 and a lightweight aerodynamic car like a corvette its just unstoppable unless you got 16cyl if you know which car im talking about. As you say, the V8 in a car like a corvette (Covette Z06) is the ultimate motor. It is simply a big motor. Compared to the Ferrari's 4.3li V8 its huge. The covette's motor has no true engineer feats beside being the largest in its class. Like the saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement."
The corvette Z06 does not have the biggest V8 in its class, the 572 chevy is like an 8Ltr V8, thats the biggest i know of. You say the corvette has no engineering? Its aerodynamic, it handles and it out runs as you call them hand made craftsmenship cars. They may be craftsmenship but they still suck compared to some american muscle. @ajsofia to be fair, that Z06 time is a manufacturer time, so chevy did as many runs as possible to doit, the F430 lap time is from Sport Auto magazine, and a magazine lap time will always be slower than a car company's laptime. For instance, the Nissan GT-R did a 7.27 by nissan, but only a 7.44 under sport auto. Anyways, the Z06 is an amazing car nevertheless, awesome value for money.

For now though, Europe are making the most amazing cars. Koenigsegg Agera, Aston ONE-77, Ferrari SA Aperta, Lamborghini Reventon, Pagani Cinque. I love the "unicorn" status these cars have.
@namybot: The Ford Gt is my all time favorite supercar. But I have a feeling that the up comming SSC Tuatara is gonna change that. I love what SSC is doing with the interior of this car. And its gonna have a 9000rpm DOHC engine. Believe it or not I do actually prefer OHC engines over OHV engines despite of what I like about Corvettes.

I don't like the way Tautara looks, I think it is nasty. The front isn't too bad but the back end looks nastier than anal pile. The interior is pretty awesome but I still think the Hauyra or Agera is the best looking cars at the moment.

SSC is company that just produced their first production car as we know. The Ultimate aero. @terun1978 Because ZR1's and dodge viper ACR'S are much more powerful and has much more torque, which makes up for the not so well exiting of corners, i haven't driven a ZR1 or a Ferrari, but from knowledge, ZR1's are harsh on corner entry and exits with lots of over-steer (i mean that's fun and all) but Ferrari's spend more money on electronics and technology making their cars perfect on track, from all reviews, Ferrari's are stuck to the ground while ZR1's are all over the track

Oh keep this in mind, ZR1's have a supercharged 7 liter V8 while the 458 has a 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8.

@skillz1855 I respect machines from both sides of the pond. Remember that many of those ring times (including those for the ACR and ZR1) are manufacturer tests. Tires make a huge difference too. There are a lot of inconsistencies.

In the hands of someone capable and versed with both the ZR1 and the F430, the ZR1 will take it around the track, unfortunately. Get the ZR1 vs the 458 and the gap will big much bigger for much longer, from a stand but from a roll the result will prob be the same as this.
Ferrari have made new F12 the has 730hp and 500ft-lbs of torque gets to 125mph in 8.3 seconds, no vette can do that.

As you say, the V8 in a car like a corvette (Covette Z06) is the ultimate motor. It is simply a big motor. Compared to the Ferrari's 4.3li V8 its huge. The covette's motor has no true engineer feats beside being the largest in its class. Like the saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement."

All I hear is silly thoughtless comments. The Ferrari isn't faster in a straight line, but was built with more thought and engineering, as it has much better balance on a racetrack than the Vette. It has enough power to stay with the Vette but its main goal is to be a balanced track car while being made of really high quality. You can't say that about the Vette.

@ajsofia to be fair, that Z06 time is a manufacturer time, so chevy did as many runs as possible to doit, the F430 lap time is from Sport Auto magazine, and a magazine lap time will always be slower than a car company's laptime. For instance, the Nissan GT-R did a 7.27 by nissan, but only a 7.44 under sport auto. Anyways, the Z06 is an amazing car nevertheless, awesome value for money.

But even so, if you look at the power/torque to litre and cylinder ratio the Ferrari Engine is the far superior engineered engine.

I don't like the way Tautara looks, I think it is nasty. The front isn't too bad but the back end looks nastier than anal pile. The interior is pretty awesome but I still think the Hauyra or Agera is the best looking cars at the moment.

@terun1978 Because ZR1's and dodge viper ACR'S are much more powerful and has much more torque, which makes up for the not so well exiting of corners, i haven't driven a ZR1 or a Ferrari, but from knowledge, ZR1's are harsh on corner entry and exits with lots of over-steer (i mean that's fun and all) but Ferrari's spend more money on electronics and technology making their cars perfect on track, from all reviews, Ferrari's are stuck to the ground while ZR1's are all over the track

@komdankut the ZR1 is the hardcore version,so its out of the f430's league.even the Z06 is overpowering the ferrari.In drag race the Zr1 will win at any but show these two some corners and the corvette cant stand a chance vs the f430.Pricewise the corvette is WAY cheaper though.

@elodsisc The C6 Corvettes are some of the most capable track cars in the world. In the hands of someone capable and versed with both the ZR1 and the F430, the ZR1 will take it around the track, unfortunately. I love Ferrari, and hate American cars, but unfortunately, they now have the ability to turn.

@elodsisc is that why there is no ferarri besides the 599XX that beats a Z06 or a Zr1 around the ring...not tomention corvettes consistanly have a higher lateral G ratio and are normal faster around a track? ALMS GT1 class champions 7 years in a row i think corvettes can handle a corner its the compition that have a hard time dealing with it

Yeah, corvette is cheap (because it's made out of steel and plastic), Ferrari is expensive, but o so beatifully made. I still prefer italian finesse above american muscle.

Happy to see the Vette running door to door, but definitely drooling over the F430. Looks and sounds phenomenal. Best looking prancing horse IMHO. Far sexier than the odd-looking 458.
