The Original composer of this song was Jeremiah Jackson Kainga a Zimbabwean who was a recording artist back in the early 50s and 60s. He later became a preacher and dropped all secular music and even gave the rights to most of his songs away for free to artists like Children of Nandi.
Yes it was originally sung by the Mahotella Queens back in the 1960s, the song was known then as "Mono Sarah Nani" and the composer is listed as being Sarah Mabukela, one of the (many) Queens vocalists back then. I know there's been a lot of confusion as to where the original song comes from, hope this clears things up! ;)
