Oni Akuma and Evil Ryu Ultra Combos

If Evil Ryu is evil because he couldn't master the Satsui no Hado, then why isn't Akuma evil even though he couldn't master the Satsui no Hado? Or does allowing it to take over you mean you didn't fail to master it? That's like when a smoker tries to convince you he can quit any time he likes.

@IIIIIACEIIIII But he could. That's the whole point. Akuma has mastered the Satsui no Hado, whereas Evil Ryu was consumed by it and his own dark desires for murder and destruction. This is shown in Akuma's restraint and discipline. He refuses to kill opponents who do not equal him, or opponents at an unfair disadvantage, whereas Evil Ryu will murder anyone who gets in his way; this is shown in Evil Ryu's ending where he screams for "More blood! More violence!" and kills two weak lackeys.

Is Ryus dark desire for murder and destruction an effect of being consumed by the Satsui no Hado, or is it his dark desire for murder and destruction that caused him to be consumed? @IIIIIACEIIIII The name "Satsui no Hado" means "Surge of the Intent to Murder", so the fact that he's able to tap into it means that at least at times, he has the intent to murder his opponent, and he's drawing upon those dark impulses for power. Ryu has, in the storyline, had the Satsui no Hado sealed away, and it no longer surges up within him; Evil Ryu gave himself over to it, but instead of mastering it with discipline and training like Akuma, became little more than a monster.

@blazentony95 No akuma is oni's dad.. gouken killed his father and e.ryu wanted kill him too. The dark hado was used to bring them to a final battle of hados. Gouken ask Shenlong to babysit while he was in the bathroom

Akuma is somewhat evil. what you wrote was true, except that Akuma challenged Gouken with the intent to kill him (which is an evil act); knowing that if he succeeded (which Ryu thought he did) it would awaken "dark intent" in Ryu upon finding out.

THUS, Ryu would be consumed with rage against Gouken's killer allowing his soul to be susceptible to the Satsui No Hadou. Oni is the final level of the dark Hadou, basically a Master of Destruction, an agent of chaos.

@roburo2002 But Akuma isn't evil at all. He never has been. Oni Akuma is just Akuma having fully mastered the Satsui no Hado. Evil Ryu, however, is an alternate version of Ryu who succumbed to and was consumed by the Satsui no Hado.

@UncleBetty32k Except Akuma follows a very strict warrior's code. He's never murdered anyone, he's simply fought and killed worthy opponents in battle. When he was fighting Gen, Gen's tuberculosis acted up and he fell to one knee, coughing up blood. Akuma refused to continue the battle, as because of Gen's illness, it wasn't a fair fight.

He's simply an antagonist; he's not a villain. He didn't try to "murder" Gouken. They fought, and Akuma won, which (he thought) killed Gouken.

@UncleBetty32k Akuma isn't evil. He has no compassion for other human beings as a result of using the Satsui no Hado (a.k.a. "Dark" Hado), but he's not evil. What he really seeks is someone in the world powerful enough to challenge, defeat, and kill him; he originally wanted Ryu to awaken to the Satsui no Hado and surpass him, killing him in the process.

Evil Ryu is an alternate "what-if" version of Ryu who failed to master the Satsui no Hado like Akuma did and was consumed by its power.

@PalookaLord Akuma embraced the dark arts that normal Ryu resists...the dark arts that kill. Committing murder, or the desire to do so, doesn't make one evil? Maybe he does want to just be defeated by someone more powerful...but he'll kill anyone that's weaker than him who gets in his way.

@daricsoldar That's funny, because Akuma makes a very strict policy of only killing worthy opponents. He has never murdered anyone weaker than him; all the people he's killed fell to him in battle.

The only exception is M. Bison, because Akuma simply despises Bison's very existence and sees him as a pathetic creature controlled by his own power. But Bison is a villain, so it's not like that's a bad thing. Akuma's actually a pretty chill dude when he's not fighting people.

You're saying the fact he doesn't kill anything that isn't stronger than himself doesn't make him evil.  Searching for someone to kill doesn't make anyone evil? What do you define as evil? Only tyrannical despots like Hitler or Stalin? Most civil people would agree that killing for pleasure or pride certainly qualifies as being evil, unless they're so cold and heartless that they do the same.

@daricsoldar He doesn't search "for people to kill"; he searches for worthy opponents. His dream is, in fact, to fall in battle to a superior opponent. It's just that he never loses to his opponents, even when he's deemed them worthy.

Killing isn't evil; murder is. Akuma kills, he doesn't murder. (Except Bison, but I don't hear anyone complaining, heh.) Also, were you aware that the style that Akuma, Gouken, and Ryu all use was a style designed for killing one's opponent?
