Yeah my coach tried this once we would have scored if we would have known that for it to be legal the qb's hands must touch the ball then the center can run it
Planned loose ball plays (fumblerooski) are illegal in NFHS rules. For any lineman to get a handoff, he must face his own goalline or it would be a 5 yard live ball illegal formation penalty.
For the fumbleruski to be legal and avoid spinning etc. the QB puts the ball on the ground- like a fumble and then the center or guard picks up the ball. A fumble is a live ball and anyone can pick it up and run. The QB in the video handed the ball to the center- if however they ran a single wing type formation the center can be considered an eligible receiver if he is to one side of 5 lineman.
It is definitely an illegal play. Not only does the exchange have to happen and the lineman has to turn around 180 degrees, but he also has to be at least one yard behind the line of scrimmage. I used to run a play I called the Guard Special which took advantage of that exact rule. Told the officials I was going to run it at the beginning of the game so they would be aware. Great play if it is run correctly, which this one wasn't. Too bad, cause it's a great play.
The correct way to run the play is to have the qb put the ball on the ground and then the center can pick it up. After the snap the center drops on all fours and the qb puts the ball on the ground between the centers legs.
In federation rules you cannot hand off to a lineman without the lineman turning around 180 degrees. And you can't pass to a lineman no "declaring a lineman eligible". That's an NFL rule.
ITS ILLEGAL BECAUSE IN the NFHS code, to prevent a fumble rooski play, it requires an offensive lineman recieving a forward handoff to spin 180 degrees and face the other teams goal post before they recieve the forward handoff.
please note that there is a major difference between a forward and backward handoff
if the center was marked as an eligible receiver in it legal because the center snapped it to the quarterback and then the quarterback game it back to the center making it legal.

@speranzayaya The center CANNOT be a legal receiver. Only players on the end of the line or in the backfield at the snap are legal receivers.

@tube0501 yeah but he handed it off to the center he didnt pass it to him...
linemen can get the ball...they can handoff or lateral it to them(not forward obviously)

If the QB handed the ball to him, it might have been legal but I don't exactly know whether it would count as a forward pass.
