i could give a crap less about "updating" my rifle, I put this stock system on my AK so it would feel comfortable in my arms. The old wood stock was just too short, my arm was hurting using it and i was getting burnt powder in my eyes.

so i put this on it, and took the top rail off, and leave the bottom rail cover on it. it works a lot better but i do think the wood looked nicer. but the heat shield is a plus

Also I'll add that the top rail is 100% worthless. It wobbles so what's the point? Just pointing this all out so nobody else wastes there money.

My problem with the tapco furniture is it looks nice, but it's very cheap, my OD handguards warped after putting 250 rounds through it. The m4 stock wobbles like crazy so I just put a standard stock on it instead. In my opinion and experience with this set up is tapco made this strictly for looks and not performance.

@NhanDVu Yes, the stock fits flush, but I had to really tighten down on it. There's no wobble either. Arsenal makes great rifles. Good luck.

@sootch00 the stock looks great the screws and drill bit are complete crap i bought it to day and i was like ok seems pretty simple yeah right i drill the first hole no problem i start on the second hole as i start to pull it out snap the bit could not take the heat i am guessing 100% American Made? what kind of screws do they give you Philips head the easiest in the world to strip and made of crap metal American or Chinese? what they need is torx head screws and a bit that wont snap.....

@sootch00 ..... and i know they wont Pre-drill the holes so it can fit multiple AK variants but common on. Maybe they should recommend having a gunsmith put it on unless you have a drill press. returning to manufacture. 40 bucks down the tube and a very disappointed customer this is not the first time I was not happy with tapco's products (sks 20rnd Mag) but it will be the last.

Hey sootch the magpul angled for grip (AFG) fits the tapco fore end like it was made for it. I plan on doing a update video on my AK but until then you can rest assured it fits and feels great. also the AFG doesn't get in the way of reloads. Peace out Bro

@humanentropy ak sights prevent the afg from being used as it was designed. Your thumb would block the front sight post.

Sootch, you do great vids, but I have never been an AK fan, there's just no precision involved in that thing, in any version ever made. Cheap weapon, for poor countries, and it shows. The only redeeming quality that I see is reliability. Again, no offense to you, just not an AK fan.

Ok if the gas tube rail is typically loose, how will/that affect your red dot sights? I put a similar stock on my SKS, I really like it, waiting on my spring loaded firing pin right now. And yeah I am gearing up for that zombie apocalypse, cardio cardio cardio!

You can't have a fore grip on a gun with a detachable magazine... I have one on my mossberg 500 (since it's tube fed) but I can't have one on my S&W M&P 15-22... Ridiculous... What sense does that make?

@MichiganTNP from an entirely aesthetic point of view, i prefer the SKS coz the AK-look is fairly cliched. with the Tapco 922r complicance kit, i think the SKS looks thoroughly modern and unique. i can't give my opinion on shooting coz ive only shot a blank firing AK (i live in the UK where gun laws are extremely strict :'( ) but personally i just prefer the SKS. i know this comment probably wasnt directed to em but oh well :D.

@vovavoyevodin When redusing the weight of any weapon, recoil is likely to be increased. To me it looks like he's holding the weapon, more then strong enough. Over gripping a weapon will cause most people to pull the shot.

I know they function better with the Tapco mags, its just that i knew all about the reviews on those famous wasr's, but ended up with one...Traded it for another wasr from Cabela's and still had the worst luck! I think the reason why they make the AK stock short is because of the thick winter coats they wear in Russia. I don't doubt that the TAPCO stocks are good, but I think there are stocks that do more. The the strike force ak buttstock collaspes and folds to the side, unlike the TAPCO stock. ZAHAL also sells a M4 style buttstock that has a recoil buffer in it, unlike the TAPCO one.

How well does the forward hand guard keep it's zero when using a red dot on it? You had mentioned the slight play the gas tube picatinny rail had, and I would think that would be a bit detrimental to using a sight in that position.
