@SKnight8046 Actually, if you play the demo, you'll find that it has much more vareity and balancing. You can switch your characters in battle, capture enemies to fight alongside you, puzzles, a time travel element like Chrono Trigger, and many more. If you don't like it, that's fine.

People liked it because it was easy. For god's sake, this was dumb down for us RPGers. The story was too simple and straight forward. I MEAN WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT COCOON"s FAL CI!? using auto battle is not at all required, if you took a little time to challenge yourself then you could go throught menus & select spells before the gauge filled up while haste was is active :/ I never used auto battle, & the game fills much more rewarding that way!

auto battle seems to have really dumbed done this game. like knowing to hit machines with lightning is all part of it. seems like thou at points holding all ff games to the standard of ff7 is a let down. no game can match it. and as for no grinding, thats a first for ff. some grinding is part of it. as in leveling, money, and exp.

This review was perfect. I have to say this game actually has more content to offer than any other game in the series, all of which can be accessed after it's rather lengthy story is over. It gives the player a choice to keep playing or stop when the story is concluded, and that's something I've always wanted in the series... However, this caused the story to feel like a leash and it made me want to beat it without taking the story in. This could have been executed better. Still, I loved it!

One of the most linear RPGs I've ever played, and the side quests are basically mandatory since you don't get an airship. The soundtrack is above average and doesn't really live up to past titles, just like the game itself.

Alot bothers me about the sounds of this game mainly being the Ai will automatically choose the weakness etc...

I want to play the game I dont want the AI to do it for me I want to find out weaknesses and try stuff out myself, thats why I gave up with 12 once the gambit system etc became deployed I didnt even feel like I was playing a game I was just watching the AI run around and do stuff for me.

You made some good points about the game as well as the bad, this is seriously the only review of the game i actually agree with. Alot of the other reviews i heard where just not worth the time, but you backed up what you say. I still like the whole idea they had with XIII the battles are alittle bit simplified yeah, but I still like it, and not to mention being able to easily get up to 999 damage and the extreme boss fights in sidequest or should i say missions still enjoyed all those things.

I think this review was a bit too nice to the game. =/ FFXIII seems too lacking in terms of adventure or secrets that the other games had.. It lacked depth. Alot of people didn't like FFXII because it wasn't turn-based but it had ALOT to explore.

@chubs54 Hm. Well you gotta admit, XIII's maps were basically a straight line to progress the story.

Atleast in X, there were places you could visit in between the story to find things you probably wouldn't if you just followed along with the directions. I remember playing it when I bought it, finished the game. Then looked up the strategy guide and found out I missed a bunch of stuff.. whereas in XIII, the only part where you search like that is Ch. 11. The only part. =/

@3m0hyphy Chapter 11 and 13 (post-game). In fact, the game recommends you to finish up the entire storyline first BEFORE exploring everything else, since the most challenging stuff out there are only through exploration. The final quest line boss is the hardest in the game, and that requires a lot of exploring. The whole exploration side of the game took me 22 more hours to finally complete everything, and I own the Collector's Edition guide to help me get to checkpoints the fastest. It's huge.

You're right about the not having very many mini games but I think the very long ass task of helping the cie th stones made up for some of that. Though I do agree about some of the cut scenes. They would have made interesting battles to play out.

I found myself constantly having to force myself to even pay attention to this game. The combat was to hands off and the characters just weren't pulling me in. If I had to describe this game in a word it would be "yawn".

FF14 is out, has been for some months, its a pc MMORPG and didnt get reviews at all, mostly because it was a new team on it. But they are bringing back the team from XIII to do a FFXIII '2' which will be coming out Q4 2011

That was an excellent review and it was a pretty ok game and some parts of the game reminds me of Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10 is still THE best Final Fantasy game and RPG game I've ever played. The Auto Attack option is nice because it helps to defeat the enemies faster especially to get more stars and i don't like it when enemies attacks during my turn and i like taking my time thinking of strategies to defeat harder enemies but i do attack the enemies manually to. Happy Gaming !
