Awesome interview. Does anyone know how to watch the "Easter eggs" on the R-30 dvd? This uploader figured it out, but I sure can't!!! Nice to know Rush is still rocking!
Fucking awesome, so much having fun and a blast. So underated as a guitar player. He filled in the sounds and tones, matching the keys and bass back then. The lead guitar player from saga did the same and no one knows Ian Crichton name either. Killer sound masters, period!
in Sleep Canyon i may beg for picks alex, on a sign.
i may also beg neil for four sticks.
then on my third sign i may just beg geddy for an Oberheim polyphonic interphased with a ...dot dot dot com boom to bust, if you can read this from a far and away cry, like movements on the lawn, i bid you adieu.
drink bravely monkey boy 2010 i thought "from first to last" meant Albuquerque to West Palm Beach.
yet the day in Detroit 2011 thru my glorious hometown of Nola, the test of whirlwind's drive, and the red-eye at the bar n grill, as the birds pronouce the dawn, shall gallop this turbine freight for the three factors of fear, death defying, mutilating, gatherers here, to bid adieu to George Washington gorgeous gord garden road.
Fuck! We have to give the award to Rush. Isn't there anyone else? Men Without Hats, maybe? The Difranco Family? Andy Kim? Come on. There has to be someone else? Geez. Okay, okay. Rush gets the Artist of the Decade Award 80s for their work in the 70s. Is he going to keep that mullet?
@lifepod2036 Fair comment, however, Men Without Hats contribution to Canadian popular music cannot be denied. How many times will you hear 'Safety Dance' over the course of a single year? Andy Kim. A brilliant performer and considerable talent. Gino Vannelli? The guy is an extraordinary talent and continues to this day. The Difranco Family is very important. Given the Canadian artists and performers their due. Saga. Goddo. Stampeders. Chilliwack. Trooper. So much talent needs to be honored.
@bearmare I see where you're going with this now. I was thinking of Men at work (Aussie group??).. you're talking about Canadian performers.. I was thinking you were talking about popular corporate new wave crap in the 80s vs Rush the powerhouse trio. But yeah, in retrospect it does seem random that they received it compared to the bands of that decade that were hitting the top of popular music charts. But was this a Canadian award or international?
@bearmare Canadian. I'm a think it was for the Junos. (Canada's Grammy) They won and award earlier from the defunct Sam the Record Man chain. I think they called them "Musicians of the Century" or something like that.
@lifepod2036 - Get your genres right. MWH wasn't new wave. They came after new wave. New Wave was stuff like Talking Heads, Blondie, etc. Stuff that was happening around the end of the punk era. And what's so "gay" about New Wave or even MWH? I'm pretty most of those new wave bands were having a lot of heterosexual fun times. Can't you just shut up and find this interview funny? Why do you have to turn it into a little rant?
What a loveable weirdo he is! Now all we need is for Rush to be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame and then they'll have been truly recognised!
one funny dude, he's on somthing though
