Don't be convinced by rugby it may look great and all with players not wearing pads but american are true warriors in their pads.
You know wearing pads makes things better. you feel safe and secure in your pads yet you think it's pussy, pads will always protect you from harm but you always think your better. don't be arrogant wear your pads and be the better man.
@Dimitri0809 see your wrong u think that rugby players dont give 100 per cent every tackle players get knocked out all the time because they just fly into each other.There is no difference in mentality have a look at the wales rugby team just beat england by a last dicth tackle in which he was left knocked out on the floor go and tell him although he was wearing rubber pads there are not like yours. only difference is u cant tackled above the neck on when somebody is in the air in rugby
@slaughtered9090 American Football is no less flawed than Rugby Union that's why Rugby League players could not be satisfied with it. Outside of money there is no attraction and money is not everything.
i'm from america and i play football i love rugby though my cousins live in england and i thought they would be little pussies becuase they play rugby and i never knew about it so the minute my ass got tackled by them i was on my ass in pain. but i got back at them because im a hell of a rugby player XD
Rugby and american football are very different,it's not possible to compare.
We play rugby with 7,13(no maul,no ruck like the video...) or 15 players(with maul,ruck,touch...).For ex,The american team is better to play with seven players...
@tamzokes The only reason rugby wont attract "dollars" in america is because americans are to pussy to play it properly so they always loose. America dont associate wiyh anyone outside there bubble you call a country so you only know things that come from your country and nothing else !
@MrLongboardification You can play rugby with 7,13 or 15 players....The video show a match with 13 players,no maul,no touch.....It's different if you want to play with 15 players.
a lot of nfl players would lose a little size due to how much more running is involved in rugby. but then again they would puss out from taking a hit lol. jk
yeah, Rugby players don't have pads, but I have taken hits in football which would've killed me had I not been in pads. A concussion with a helmet = permanent brain damage without one.
and seriously, if football players had grown up playing rugby, they would be by far the best.. Ray Lewis would destroy! Adrian Peterson or Reggie Bush would go untouched, Peyton Hillis would break a tackle (which NEVER happens in rugby)
then why is there a rugby world cup and not an american football world cup, americans are the best at sports like american football ,baseball and basket ball ,but thats because there the only ones in the world that play those faggy little sports.

Comparing them is like comparing a sprint to a marathon- both are tremendous athletic accomplishments, you just train differently and have different types of players.
You can't really compare rugby to AF anymore only because AF is too different than rugby. Rugby is a beautiful game and is much more physically demanding for all the players, that being said AF is also physically demanding but nowhere close to rugby. AF is much more tactical than rugby though, let's be honest rugby has tactic but not as much as AF depending on the calibre of your team ofcourse.Both are fun to play but are both different,this coming from a provincial ranked rugby and AF player =D
Pads?? When you can move like benji marshall israel dagg or ANY other back in professional rugby league and union you dont need pussy pads. NO MUSCLES?? look at the tuilagi brothers!! and they arent even ranked that highly in rugby circles. in rugby you have to think on ur feet and comunicate with ur team mates all WHILE play is going on. no coach or quarterback to hold your hand and tell you what to do after play has stopped every 3 seconds.
I am American and I play rugby and American football and I say there both great. They are both extremely difficult. Yes in football you have pads but thats because you have 200 pound beast ready to deck you all the time. Im not saying rugby isnt tough because I too have been hit after recieving a hospital pass. American football is very tough and so is rugby. So for all you guys who have no idea what youre talking about. SHUT UP!!!!
@evilsandwich2 LOL, really? You clearly haven't looked up a rugby player. AF players look like wimps with no muscles thanks to them ridiculously huge pads which aren't necessary. And a fair few rugby players wear soft pads to protect their shoulders (mainly needed for the scrums, which AF doesn't have so WHY do they even need shoulder pads in the first place of they are just doing running hits?!) and major organs, plus scrum caps which not enough wear which is to protect your head.
"Why do they need shoulder pads"? Wow! you're completely clueless. Your a typical "non AF fan", who has absolutely no knowlege of the sport, and has done little to no investigation into it. Yet, you continue to spout complete and utter nonsense about the sport. ????
@bebomac5 "Wimps with no muscles thanks to them ridiculously huge pads", they look stupid and it makes them look wimpy, I wasn't saying they are wimpy, I was replying to the person who said rugby players don't have muscles. He clearly has never seen a rugby player. You're a typical non-rugby fan. As are most of the AF fans on here. I have tried out AF and got hit by men and I found it rather stupid, hitting each other for no reason when the player doesn't have a ball!
@3MinuteWarning90 I don't know how much AF you think you've played, but the fact that you would utter such a dumb statement as "hitting each other for no reason", proves your total ignorance of the game. I understand Rugby quite well, it's not that hard to learn, I think it's a great game. You're a complete Moron!
@CrazyAGamers They wear pads for a reason. The ball is passed forward = faster runnings = bigger hits. Average career in NFL just 3 years due to injuries and repeat concussions. Both games are tough as hell.
@CrazyAGamers Yeah when a 6' 8" 280 pound man is coming at you full speed ready to knock you down at full force I'm pretty sure you'll need protection, if not then I'm pretty sure there would be countless injuries and maybe even deaths in each game. Rugby players aren't as big and do come at you as fast as NFL players so yeah the protection is necessary.
It's very telling that Rugby fans all bring up Jonah Lomu (a retired player) when seeking to compare Rugby athletes to AF's.
The fact is , that there are multiple athletes on every NCAA and NFL team, who are of equal size, speed, strength, and agilty or better. Even some High School players. He may have been the greatest athlete in Rugby, but by NCAA and NFL standards, not so much!
give me a break. just because jonah lomu may be the most famous rugby player it doesnt make him the best. there is a long list of rugby league and rugby union players that would meet your dum little "NCAA and NFL" standards
@12rutts Then R fans should stop talking about him as if he's the greatest, and still playing.
You're obviously unaware of the level of athlete in NCAA and NFL FB, and lack exposure to the sport,You're not even aware of the constant comunication between all players, which is even more important in AF because you have no idea what your teammates are doing.
You refer to coaches and QB's as if that's some sort of insult,..it's not. What does a Rugby coach do anyway? What use are they?
@12rutts Just like Lomu, players like Marshall and Dagg would be confronted with athletes who are not only quicker than they are, but also bggr, strngr, fstr, and more agile. Common R running tactics such as "stutter steps", have become almost obsolete in AF, due to the incredible quickness and closing speed of AF defenders such as LaRon Landry, Patrick Peterson, Troy Polamalu, and Taylor Mays. Btw, in AF, everybody gets smashed sooner or later, there is no escape.
Every AF player in existance, or anyone who's played AF in the US, for that matter, has taken Massive hits without pads. It's how we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that equipped hits are undeniably harder and more violent. The nature and rules of AF create the need for collisions, which occur with or without helmets and pads:
@FactoryTurbo Protection isn't necessary. Rugby players are bigger than AF players, you clearly haven't researched the subject. Plus, they look wimpy with them massive pads and tiny little arms sticking out.
The average size of the biggest Rugby teams on Earth, is 6'2 226lb (103kg), the average size of an NFL team is 6'4 248lb (112kg).
"You" clearly have not researched the subject, and obviously have never seen an AF team out of uniform: watch?v=nG6l1SgIKus .
"All" NCAA and NFL teams look that way, and stronger. Btw, the back row averages 6'6 310lb (141kg). You really should check into things before commenting.
"tiny little arms"? Outside of Kickers, I don't know any "tiny little armed" players. Even the smallest players are "built". I guess it's easy to see why someone with little exposure to AF, might think players like WR's, are skinny because many others are absolutely massive. The fact is that many of those "tiny little armed" WR's are actually around the size of someone like Sonny Bill Williams.
I am an American who plays rugby! I like to watch American football as well. They are both good sports. But if American kids had the opportunity to play both rugby like American football, there would certainly be much less American football players out there cause rugby is a shit ton more fun than American football. Many collegiate football programs encouraged players to play rugby in the off season for conditioning. Now they are not allowed because they lost players because rugby is BETTER!!
By the way, this is rugby League, not union. Hence the 13 players. Union has 15 players. All the clips in this video are rugby league and are of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which is the team Russel "cock face" Crow supports. Just thought I'd fill some people in.
To say one sport is better than the other is a case of nurture vs. nature. If you grew up with one or the other, of course you are more likely to favor the one from your childhood. I grew up playing American Football so yes I like it better than rugby or soccer. I'd probably feel the same way if I grew up with the latter. My point is that there is no point arguing which one is better as it's a matter of perspective.
@sophmore90 I agree. Im aussie and i grew up watching rugby, and i'd prefer it over NFL. Just my nature. But people are just dumb ignorant to see that.
rugby is def tougher than football but i think football is more entertaining to watch... plus i think hockey is a tougher sport than rugby, not by much, but still tougher
forward passes make american football more dangerous as yhe defense can load up for hit. pads make players feel more protected which ironically leads to more violent collisions.
@vikes4life699 The FIFA World Cup is the most watched game the 2010 final got over 500 million views and the whole thing got about 3.2 billion views in total
on a different note. people who love stereotyping america think they have it better. in some cases this may be true. but the whole world is fucked. america is just a big, militarized, mutated baby of britain.
@vikes4life699 Actually all I see is rugby, GAA, soccer and hurling...Though rugby is on more often than any of the others. And since you are gloating about living in the "greatest country in the world". Go anywhere in the world the likely chances of the primary sport being football well that's a big fat 0, however most countries will countries will either play rugby or soccer. Ireland, England, France, Wales, Scotland, Italy, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and more play rugby.
@bebomac5 Well you may not view those countries as separate because you are a dumb American, but everyone views them as different country in your Europe, you don't even know their primary you presume it is rugby because I said they play it, however, it is soccer. It seems that your military forces prefer to play rugby too. AF's popularity isn't growing it is just your population that is.
@Keeeogh Your response to my statement is lacking in contextual focus, and is replete with misinformation and nonsensical rubbish.
Spouting faulty info, stating the obvious, and hurling insults, while not providing a single intelligent thought to counter anything I said, makes you look like a real moron!
Maybe if you can relax and concentrate really hard, you might be able to ring an actual, marginally inteligent thought out of that "turd" you're using for a brain.
Wrong! Try Again! #2 is actually Cricket. Rugby ranks no higher than 8th on most lists, and 3 american sports are ranked higher on the "overall" lists. (Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball) Regardless of how you judge, participants, viewers, supporters, revenue, etc, Rugby is still down the list. While the R World Cup ranks 3rd in sporting "events", (although the #'s are greatly exagerated) I "Challenge" you to find data to counter what I've said.
@keeeogh haha that's a good try stupid European. It must suck to not live in the best country in the world. I go to college and have a job and have the luxuries that America offers that Germany, Sweeden, or whatever worthless European country you are from doesnt offer. Silly European, the most watched sports event in the WORLD is the superbowl. No one cares about rugby. Ask anyone about Tom Brady or Peyton Manning and they'll say oh hes a football player. NO ONE knows rugby. You sound so dumb.
this country isn't worth a fuck anymore. our education systems are a unionized sham.college is a scam pumping out more indentured servants than creditcard companies. the job market is a fail. we don't have free health care. CHINA makes most of our products. the country is deteriorating too the point where all citys will compare to detroit. our democracy is long gone - we are actually in a plutocracy or oligarcy now. what luxuries do we have that europe doesn't?
@vikes4life699 I think you mean the most watched sport in AMERICA is the superbowl cos outside of America it isnt a well followed sport,thats why only Americans play it.Most people wouldnt know who Tom Brady or Peyton Manning is,only Americans.Thats like thinking everyone in America knows Daivd Beckham cos they dont even though hes a popular figure in the rest of the world.
@vikes4life699 Ummm. I think you're confusing the U.S and the world. AMERICAN football is popular in AMERICA. Rugby is popular in the REST OF THE WORLD.
We dont care about the rest of the world. in America we play the sports we like. Dont let that confuse you little third world countries into thinking we cant play soccer or rugby lol. Our youth does not train for those sports cause there is no money. We are the king of sports. Do you know how much money our country spends on watching them... it would dwarf your little minds. Our athletes are the best. Our NFL players run 4.4 in the 40 yard dash. 250 pounds. Do the math
@vikes4life699 "Why doesn't it compete with the NFL". Silly American Rugby is a lot more popular and better, last time I checked rugby was the international sport not NFL so the real question is why doesn't the NFL compete with Rugby Union or League?
I've played both. Not only is rugby tougher, it is WAY more fun. No 7 second plays then a little break. No heavy pads to slow your tackle. No people blocking in front of you. Just you verses the entire opposing team.
rugby is tough, but football is really so much more... I actually talked to my friend about this and he plays both sports in the swedish national team, we talked about it when we went to England together, and he said football i so much tougher than rugby, because you go all in when you tackle, but hear me out he told me rugby has some hard tackles aswell, but its not even close to american football. He is allso a ref in both sports.
@FUCKInWORDzK Just like rugby, American football derived from traditional rest of the world football, Americans just never came up with a new name for it, and us Americans are too used to calling it Football.
@WiggieWomper wrong, soccer football derived from rugby style football, around the same time that American football derived from rugby football. Rugby football came first, and spread to North America before Soccer. Rugby itself came from the oldest kind of football, called Shrovetide football. And the name football just means a game played on foot (as opposed to horseback), with a ball.
Just watched the science video about rugby and nfl and they forgot one detail....the rugby tackler was standing....whilst the nfl player took a run up....they should have had the rugby player take a run up and see how much force that would have been....(seeing as how a standing tackle could break a rib) :/
As a kid, I grew up playing tackle football on paved streets & in parks with no pads/helmets before playing in local leagues. Many NFL players do this sort of thing growing up. This was 10x the roughness of rugby since American football routinely has more piercing & harder angle of attack hits at full bore than any rugby league. Helmets/pads are mandated because people died in the early years of the game & the U.S. government threatened to ban it otherwise. Research 1905 Pres. Roosevelt!

3MinuteWarning90 2 weeks ago
@3MinuteWarning90 I don't know how much AF you think you've played, but the fact that you would utter such a dumb statement as "hitting each other for no reason", proves your total ignorance of the game. I understand Rugby quite well, it's not that hard to learn, I think it's a great game. You're a complete Moron!

Well there both the same ..i dont watch neither.cus that shit is boring BUT
Dont the rugby players play in shirts n shorts?not all padded up and got helmets like the us football ?
and the usa calls rugby pussys lol
They wear shoulder padding helmets etc ..when we rugby dont
CrazyAGamers 3 weeks ago
@CrazyAGamers
Exactly. Our football players are pussies! Some Rugy player was offered to play in the NFL, and he said, No, cuz he's not gonna play in padding!
briantravelman 3 weeks ago
@CrazyAGamers They wear pads for a reason. The ball is passed forward = faster runnings = bigger hits. Average career in NFL just 3 years due to injuries and repeat concussions. Both games are tough as hell.
argyle28 3 weeks ago
@CrazyAGamers Yeah when a 6' 8" 280 pound man is coming at you full speed ready to knock you down at full force I'm pretty sure you'll need protection, if not then I'm pretty sure there would be countless injuries and maybe even deaths in each game. Rugby players aren't as big and do come at you as fast as NFL players so yeah the protection is necessary.
FactoryTurbo 3 weeks ago
@FactoryTurbo JONAH FUCKING LOMU WOULD BE THE SHIT OUT YOU
frupblud 3 weeks ago
@frupblud
He may have been the greatest athlete in Rugby, but by NCAA and NFL standards, not so much!
bebomac5 2 weeks ago
@bebomac5
give me a break. just because jonah lomu may be the most famous rugby player it doesnt make him the best. there is a long list of rugby league and rugby union players that would meet your dum little "NCAA and NFL" standards
12rutts 2 weeks ago
@12rutts Then R fans should stop talking about him as if he's the greatest, and still playing.
You're obviously unaware of the level of athlete in NCAA and NFL FB, and lack exposure to the sport,You're not even aware of the constant comunication between all players, which is even more important in AF because you have no idea what your teammates are doing.
You refer to coaches and QB's as if that's some sort of insult,..it's not. What does a Rugby coach do anyway? What use are they?
bebomac5 2 weeks ago
@12rutts Just like Lomu, players like Marshall and Dagg would be confronted with athletes who are not only quicker than they are, but also bggr, strngr, fstr, and more agile. Common R running tactics such as "stutter steps", have become almost obsolete in AF, due to the incredible quickness and closing speed of AF defenders such as LaRon Landry, Patrick Peterson, Troy Polamalu, and Taylor Mays. Btw, in AF, everybody gets smashed sooner or later, there is no escape.

fuCopywrite 2 weeks ago
@fuCopywrite Exactly, and since the catstrophic injury and death rates are much higher in AF, that should tell people something.

@bebomac5 I bet they wouldn't play American football without pads...
3MinuteWarning90 2 weeks ago
@3MinuteWarning90
Every AF player in existance, or anyone who's played AF in the US, for that matter, has taken Massive hits without pads. It's how we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that equipped hits are undeniably harder and more violent. The nature and rules of AF create the need for collisions, which occur with or without helmets and pads:

bebomac5 2 weeks ago
@FactoryTurbo Protection isn't necessary. Rugby players are bigger than AF players, you clearly haven't researched the subject. Plus, they look wimpy with them massive pads and tiny little arms sticking out.
3MinuteWarning90 2 weeks ago
@3MinuteWarning90

Keeeogh 1 month ago
@Keeeogh A few points:
No one outside of the UK views England, Scotland and Wales, as separate.
There are only a few countries in the world wher Rugby is the primary sport.
At least 3 American sports are more popular, world wide than R.
There are mor AF fans in the US, than there are "people" in all of the countries you mentioned, combined.
AF is played in all the countres you mentioned , and popularity is grownig: watch?v=VgV4K_Q8URw .

Roosevelt!
