  • How do you do that ??

  • 2:52 to 3:04 - ultimate ring tone.

  • it's so amazing to me that this album was done on a 4 track... but back then that was the norm. All this technology today and i feel no matter how many tracks you can't beat good old fashioned songwriting, musicianship, and arrangement skills. plus analog instruments just have so much more life imo.

  • What was the guitar George used in this song?

  • @ZumunYT I think it was his Epiphone Casino.

  • @coolerruler1 Thank You very much :) I thought it may be so but I know that he used many different guitars.

  • @ZumunYT Each Beatle experimented with different instruments for different songs, so it gets confusing on wich song used wich instrument.

  • Paul's voice...holy shit.

  • my god. so much tonal intricacy in the vocals. and this isnt even a song i would first think to go to for vocals. even what seems so subtle the beatles put full attention to. thats why they are what they are.

  • Very cool breakdown. Nice nasty guitars, playful horns...

  • i can't tell you how much i admire your love and devotion to the truly worthy. i sleep well at night because a man of your obvious resources has stewardship over that "to die for" guitar/amp collection. more importantly, there is no way someone like you isn't a high quality human being. those resource books are a joy...peace, love and understanding...fab-4 4-ever !

  • May the Apple be with you. Because if otherwise, we shall never hear of your channel again.

  • how you did that or how you can this?

have a way to do with all their music?

    PLEASE

  • This video alone makes youtube a worthwhile creation.

  • I was about to yell BIIILYYY SHEEEAAARRRS!

  • Can you do this with Revolution 9? :))

  • what else can anyone possibly say,but - The Beatles !

  • Honestly, you could drive yourself mad in trying to extrapolate who played what; the sad truth is that we will probably never find out now that two of The Beatles are now dead. I can't see the surviving two enlightening us any time soon on that score, and George Martin neither. Perhaps it would be best to assume that George played lead, John rhythm and Paul bass unless we know otherwise. Just to muddy the waters, though, I've heard that Paul actually plays lead here and not George ...

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob There are some songs were I really wish I knew who played what. But considering this is the basic track, I would say it's George and John playing guitars here. By most accounts, Paul ended up adding the lead guitar.

  • @elirosen1391 John didn't play anything on this track. Just vocals.

  • Those sound like genuine Macca bass lines to me ...

  • G R E A T ! ! !

  • those harmonies, oh my

  • How do we know it's Paul on lead; stylistically? On the first track is it G lead, John rythym Paul bass, or is John playing bass and Paul rythym as I've read? By the way can anyone clarify who plays lead on Back in the USSR?

  • @MrLverga Paul's style features a lot of vibrato and bending of the strings, such as on the solos for Ticket to Ride and Taxman. G's solos are typically more structured, often involving chordal changes (so, in a sense, they are more complex, but more restrained than P's — in my experience, and especially in the early days. The solo duel we hear in "The End" was played by P, G, and J, in repetitive succession. On USSR, I know P played the drums, and I am willing to bet he played the lead as well.

  • @studioview True. The lead in USSR was Paul. Paul was often frustrated with George's need to work out his solos until they were perfect in his mind, and would put his own solos into the mix. Listen to Octopus' Garden, Old Brown Shoe, Something, etc. and you can hear that George really worked on getting his solos where he wanted them.

  • @lenskap Paul was no slouch on lead, but his switch to bass was precipitated by him botching a guitar solo or two in the early days.

  • @lenskap True, and the tragically early death of their original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe gave McCartney the long coveted opportunity to take up the bass as opposed to a six string guitar.

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob Paul took up the bass when Stuart left the band. He died when the beatles had returned to england.

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob nice username :)

  • Tom Dowd remarked when he went to England in 1967 and Abbey Road he could not believe they were still using four track machines. He had been using multi-track machines with the faders he invented for at least 10 years.

  • ESPECTACULAR ! amo esta canción, amo este disco, y los amo a ellos... su música es eterna, siempre encontras algo mas..

  • OOOWwwww!

  • Who plays the lead in this?

  • @TheAdamewing

    Believe it or not, Paul.

  • More! Much more. Amazingly good. Thanks for posting this. I love it!

  • They did MORE with 4 Track, than most today who have "Unlimited" Tracks...

  • @HalosHelios2 Imagine what the Beatles would have done given today's technology.

  • @HalosHelios2 That's because they had the likes of George (the fifth Beatle) Martin and the innovative Geoff Emerick producing and engineering for them.

  • I'm studying McCartney's O-scope bass-line....and all I see are M's

  • I WANT TO HEAR SOME MOREEEEEEEEEEE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • bravo sunnuvapuz!

  • bravo sunnuvapuz!

Pepper's, dice "The only real version of Sgt. Pepper's... is the mono version...". Anda, estúdiate a fondo el "The Beatles Recording Sessions" de Lewisohn y el "Recording The Beatles" de Kehew & Ryan. Y házte un favor y escúchate el Pepper's en mono. Lo que hay que leer, Dios mío...

  • I've just bought a 4 track reel to reel tape machine, and even though i've got only one machine, i'll have to do a lot a bouncing down too... This video showed me a lot of information that will be useful for me to know how things wre recorded on these 4 track machines... thank you very much!

  • 0:45

    <3

  • @5theSAMshow5 y u so kwl Mccartney?

  • Sounds to me like the 2nd section (blue line) is Paul, not George playing guitar - anyone?

  • @CamillusUSA

    Yes, its Paul

  • I think Paul has the best overall voice in rock / pop. He can make ANYTHING work....raucous rock...tender ballads....the works =) I'd sure like to meet that man someday (I'm a songwriter...so it COULD happen).

  • @TeekiesPlace You must have not heard of "Yer Blues" or "Julia" On the white album. It's hard to say who was better. Lennon or McCartney. Then if you actually listen to all 4 artists solo stuff. It's unreal. All 4 of them had hits as solo artists as well... The only band that came 1/4 as far would be Zeppelin but even "Stairway" in certain parts sounds like "You never Give Me your money" By the Beatles

  • @TeekiesPlace I agree 100%!

  • Does anyone know what's going on from 8:55 on? Is that just the way the track ended before they decided to segue it into With A Little Help From My Friends?

  • 0:45 play it over and over!

  • 00:47 : UAWUUUUUUU

  • God Paul's voice is amazing.

  • "ooowww!" - :46

    shit thats awesome

  • really cool i have an original copy of the recording sessions book

  • I dont think anyone has been able to recreate george's guitar properly. Just so varied and unique. I've tried to but I cant do it. So many little nuances keep it fresh. People always talk of Macca's distorted guitar in this song, but george behind it is harder playing.

  • @lupica747 I agree !

  • This song has never been anything less than EPIC - together or separate!

  • I don't know who you are.

Or how you got this stuff.

But i'd just like to say,

That what you';ve done has made at least one Soul Very Happy for a bit.

    Goo Goo - . . Ga - JOOB . .

  • wow!!

    thanks for posting!

  • it WAS 20 years ago Today

  • wow this is amazing! It really makes you think about all the work that goes into these epic songs, and how they brought it all together to make pure magic.

  • Absolutely amazing....

  • Sgt. Pepper was recorded (like in the description) with twei 4-track machines by Studer

  • Thank you for posting this vid! I used it as source for my term-paper for Mark Rubel's Studio Recording class, MUS134, at Parkland College. I got to figure out how and in what order each track was constructed: Each track is first generation with no bounce. Only the fuzziest guitar and lead vocal are punched-in. Although there may have been multiple attempts for any segment, it is conceptually only 6 takes, with 2 tracks time-shared. That's even more amazing now than it was when they did it!

  • It's amazing how they only had a four track and were able to record such great songs when today we have two trillion tracks and we don't even come close to this

  • Cool

  • On the first of the 4 tracks I love that little "whoop" that Paul does right before the chorus...in fact I like all those live sounds in the background. Makes it ALIVE =)

  • I think it's AMAZING how you've isolated the steps in the creation of a masterpiece. Puts a new perspective on appreciating the Beatles. Thanks =)

  • This is great! Thanks for posting this!

  • I have a question - why does this go on bars longer than the album version?

Thanks for uploading this - it is great

  • Have played thru many times, something magical going on here....especially where it all comes together...

  • quelle voix !!!!!!!

  • 0:47 AAAWWWWW!

    ♡ Macca ♡

  • I do not want 10 minutes of my life back. It was worth it!

  • Gotta love Macca's vox on that!

  • @LeDragonLXXVI

Also, this goes to show that the whole is MUCH MORE than the sum of its parts.

  • From Mexico... THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME.

  • Great presentation! The individual tracks have been floating around since about 2007. Google: sgt pepper multitracks and you might even find them to DL...

  • Duuude, this is freaking cool! I would LOVE to hear more of other Beatles songs :D

  • wow, that was great, fun, do some more of that please

  • what program is this?

  • pretty incredible

  • how do you download the 4 tracks

  • as we say in Guatemala QUE DE A HUEVO!!! hahaha awesome!!

  • please do more songs!

  • I've never heard the last part.

  • as make this fantastic, there is program for make it

  • @senodran wich one????

  • very good work!!, thanks for sharing!

  • Today's producers can take their digital studios, and the their 148 bazillion available tracks, and all their tricks, and the shit results, and stick it where the sun don't shine.

  • Excelente, gracias!!!

  • 2:53 are you sur ?? The guitar make the trumpet ?? LOL

  • macca was so epic in this song that the vocal sound wave made hundreds of Ms

  • Track 2 lead guitar sounds like it is McCartney playing.

  • Sergeant Peppers, Lonely Hearts Club Baaaaaa-aaaaaand!

Always been my favorite part of the song.

  • nice i tried this on audacity it sounds like a record player you have good quality

  • this is fantastic

  • Seriously rawcous lead vocal by Macca.

  • Fave part..Paul's scream in the break just before the 1st chorus @ 0:47...and on the basic rhythm track!

    Great stuff..!

Real band playing real music with real emotion.

    Real and authentic art.

  • Can anybody understand how to play the veird sound from 04 - 09 seconds, its sounds like an organ but you can hear that it has to be an guitar. Its probably tuned in some veird way.

  • @VonClev It's just a regular A7 barred at the 5th fret in the usual way, but add your pinky on the C note, 8th fret on the high E string. It's a head scratcher!

  • Thanks for this.Has made my day.

  • and somehow they always knew the right tempo for their songs.

  • ringos drums are so magically recorded. Their tone, dynamics, feel, etc. These guys were so fuking good, it makes me sick. LOL.

  • Isnt it hard to believe that music has regressed from this to brittany spears/ justin beiber/lady gaga?

  • @enolaniaga Today's music is basically yesterday's basic tracks + auto tuned singers.

  • wow i feel so bad for having little errors like hearing my fingers on the strings now that i know the beatles did it

  • Sir Paul...one of the best rock voices ever.

  • 3:29 Haha thats pretty cool

  • It was twenty years ago, today...

  • billy sheers the paul mccartney look alike ?????????

  • wow the harmonies are really, really out of tune. It's amazing to hear that.

  • @dannybighair It sounds good to me!

  • @gatorcarter

5:37. and the lowest harmony practically the whole way through

  • @dannybighair Yeah, he does sound a little flat.

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • 5:38 ouch! it's good to hear them make a mistake!

  • @hippojuice23 What mistake? I didn't catch it.

  • fuck...how did u get this???!!!

  • what the hell ws that @ 4:06?

  • Is George playing a epiphone casino on this?

  • @KnightWolvesStudio I don't believe he ever played a Casino. It doesn't sound like one, anyway.

  • @gixzo

So what guitar is o__o ?!

  • @KnightWolvesStudio I want to say that its is a Stratocaster, or Telecaster.

  • @gixzo Oh thanks, before I was thinking it was a casino because I read that they used that guitar in sgt pepper.. and george and john bought one of them after paul...

  • @KnightWolvesStudio Its an SG.

  • More!!!!!!!!

  • all done 45 years ago on analog 4 track, and still to this day, NO ONE can create such great sounds, feel and song construction. THE BEATLES ARE GOD !

  • Ringos drumming is pure genius..his tom fills , his snare hits and the fact that HE DOESNT USE THE HI HATS AT ALL! ..amazing....ringos drums sound so BIG...

  • Wow dude, I really enjoyed this!!

  • The genius of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison is why they will be listening to The Beatles 300 years from now.

  • @loneguitar13 Ringo too?

  • The green track is so good it's almost over-produced when they put everything else on it. I said almost...dont' shoot me

  • Please make more!!!!!

  • Starting at 6:54, this is close to what I usually see in my mind as I listen to music

  • Thanks for posting this.

definitely another way to listinig this song

It s incredible that after so many years i can hear everything that is recorded .

  • i don't even really like this song...it's one of my least fave Beatles songs. But I find that I like each individual part. weird.

  • just pure awesomeness

  • WOOOOW make more

  • after 40 years of listening to these guys, I still cannot believe their genius. Ringos snare drum kicks ass.

  • Ya know...I understand that some people/musicans may not like the Beatles music, but EVERYONE should be able to appreciate and admit their genius. I agree with the other posters who say ..THIS IS THE BEST FUCKING YOUTUBE VIDEO I EVER WATCHED....! Just listen to the power and feel of track one...and then listen to the amazing vocals on track 3. ..THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST...EVER !

  • @enolaniaga You're right, people may not like the music, but they should at least respect what they did any how they changed things :D

  • The absoloute feel, energy, tones , odd guitar licks, etc...all come together to make a recording that is legendary. MY GOD...what a fucking band !

  • Every musican and songwriter should be ordered to sit down and listen to this and actually appreciate pure songwriting geniuses at work who did their magic with some of the least technological equipment...all done on analog 4 track ! AMAZING !!!!

  • Bet we can all hear the record in our heads!!!! Yes?

  • 3:13 akward

  • Fabulous. Do some more videos please :)

  • best upload Ive every experienced...thx!

  • Great idea.

  • excellent videoo!!!

  • 0:00-2:23, That Rhythm Guitar is Funky, Epic, AND SO AWESOME!

  • Video concept,Band,Song....AWESOME

  • I watched another video about Pepper and i think George Martin said the laughter heard at the begining is form a performance by Beyond the Fringe...thats pretty cool

  • Whoever made this video is one of my favorite people on earth. Superb!!! More please!!!!

  • i produce music and can safely say that this video is not only amazing, but equally frustrating... on average, i use upwards of 20 - 32 tracks on a recording. this just goes to show how insanely innovative EVERYONE was in the making of this record... the fact that it is truly just a 4 track recording is phenomenal.

  • that's so cool, can hear heaps of sevenths. fascinating.

  • hot damn - why can't I get a bass drum to sound like that?

  • @superwesman Cause your not a Beatle. Haha I'm just kidding.

  • great video i'm impressed, thank you uploader but i would like to see more videos like this :P

  • WOW! GREAT! THANKS!

  • Ringo!!! what a solid beast!!!

  • @ghostofmuse O_o

  • I had NO IDEA this track was so FUNKY! I had always heard it as a rock n' roll track...but that's some SERIOUS GROOVE going on in the green line...motown level stuff. Brilliant.

  • @givemelove71 AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!

  • Awesome! You should "deconstruct" more Beatles songs :D

  • paul did a great job with the lead guitar on this song.

  • then who played the bass???
