I'm sick seeing this. I lived at 1457 Washington Ave. until 1991 & I'm positive my old house must be under water. Oakland was always flooded - what happened? I thought the flood gates were supposed to protect Pompton Lakes. It seems from what I've seen & read they the flood gates are now protecting Oakland.
I live in pompton lakes. I know how bad it can get. It gets much worse in the night. To me this video is just like a little puddle compared to how bad it gets at night.
Oakland, NJ used to get flooded til they fought to have new dam built to stop flooding in Oakland and now that the new dam's built, the floods end up going to 5 towns, time after time, flooded their homes...Gov'r Christie said he'll look into it which was last March...wondering if he did or not...anyone know about this? I feel bad for all these people in 5 towns!

Because of those gates being opened, many beautiful neighborhoods that would have normally been dry and safe because flooded and damaged!
