Re: well water & re-mineralizing water. I have been drinking filtered water since the tap water in LA tastes, like, so foul. Then I got this stuff called "ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops" to re-mineralize the water. It was inexpensive and seems like a good alternative if you don't have Vermont well water piped into your apartment building.
I just got a VitaMix (best kitchen appliance EVER!) and have been enjoying tons of smoothies and protein shakes. But I never heard of "chew your smoothie" before. But it makes a lot of sense. Of course! Maybe that's why my digestion has been all...awry...for the last week. I have been guzzling my creations instead of properly 'chewing' them for pre-digestion. Well Water?! Are you insane? I'm sorry, but I worked for the US EPA for a year and was ASTOUNDED by how unhealthy well water is :-((( Perhaps 150 years ago, but American soil quality is really poor and generally speaking, rural water is more dangerous than urban water, because it's tested less frequently, and well, manufactures and farmers think that 'noone is looking' --which is often true so they dump stuff in the water that would be more heavily regulated in urban areas!
Just "play the percentages" and don't worry about the small stuff like chewing your drink. If you get too pedantic, most will grow weary of the whole-food thing and give up.
I just made this smoothie though I used spinach instead of kale, I also threw in chia seeds and used freshly squeezed apple juice. Very nice. Hope this helps me with my running.

In your protein myth video you said you dont eat nuts or seeds In this video you are eating hemp seeds , how do you get enough calories everyday eating raw without starving your body for energy ? The raw diet seems healthy besides my miss understanding of how you give you body enough calories to keep you healthy. Most active people need around 1800 calories a day so how are you getting them threw just fruit and vegies.
@Greenmin5 no of cours you need building blocks for the whole body, but he simply means that it is often overrated, specially for every normal modern guy and girl who dont physically work that much, then he goes on sayins that your better of eating amino acids, which is what proteins are made of(broken down), which are all in fruits and vegstable, specially dark green ones, to built your own high quality tissue, instead of eating meat for example, which are already proteins structures.
I estimated based on what you put in there and it looks like it's about 260 to 270 calories for the whole thing. I have to say that is no where near enough food for a meal for a regular person let alone an athlete. You're going to be eating all day with meals that small. Try an 8 banana smoothie with some greens and have way more energy.
Tim how many calories is this? This is one of the sparsest green smoothies I've ever seen. There isn't even 2 servings of fruit in it. And you need energy for running don't you? This is not really enough for a meal for a woman let alone a fully active man.
@Semimaru A Green smoothie is a fruit smoothie with greens added. Victoria Boutenko invented it. It uses fruit to sweeten and for calories, greens are added so you can get more in your diet without having to chew them and the fruit masks the flavour. Greens have almost no calories, seaweed has almost no calories. Athletes need carbohydrates to burn as fuel. You can only get sufficient carbs from fruit on a raw vegan diet. There is no other option.

@delatroy You need to exercise on EVERY diet. There's no 'magic' diet that will keep you healthy. Sure, you can lose weight on a raw food diet, but it's much healthier to add exercise onto that :)
So, do you do nutritional consultations? I've been mostly raw for about a year now and I have come across some difficulties with digestion and low thyroid. I can't have too many goitrogenic foods. I want to do the green smoothies but am very limited. I would love to hear your opinion.

About the water thing...I'd rather not have fluoride in my water. "natural" water is spring water, it has a ppm of like <50 or something. water is just water, i'm NOT drinking it to get vitamins and nutrients because it's not rich in those things lol. That'd be like me eating potato chips to get my protein. Makes no sense. Also, that blender probably got pretty heated, destroying nutrients. I'll be investing in a slow juicer

@huntsmanschool Just guessing but maybe to make it easier on the blender. That and the stems probably don't blend really well for a smoothie again because they are tough.
At 3:45 you talk about the minerals in hard well water as being good. Hardness/minerals in water comes from dissolving stone that the water has come into contact with. Is that not INorganic minerals? Doesn't that go completely against what you were preaching from 1:00-1:30?
@dirtyc - Look I been watching many videos reading loads of stuff... there is going to be times where you say something that contradicts something else mostly because there is so much shite out there and its hard to know whats correct and whats not correct. However I have seen many water experts say they like to make sure the water is minerilesed because they believe that disttiled water would suck the minerals out of the body. Well Water?! Are you insane? I'm sorry, but I worked for the US EPA for a year and was ASTOUNDED by how unhealthy well water is :-((( Perhaps 150 years ago, but American soil quality is really poor and generally speaking, rural water is more dangerous than urban water, because it's tested less frequently, and well, manufactures and farmers think that 'noone is looking' --which is often true so they dump stuff in the water that would be more heavily regulated in urban areas!

I just made this smoothie though I used spinach instead of kale, I also threw in chia seeds and used freshly squeezed apple juice. Very nice. Hope this helps me with my running.

In your protein myth video you said you dont eat nuts or seeds In this video you are eating hemp seeds , how do you get enough calories everyday eating raw without starving your body for energy ? The raw diet seems healthy besides my miss understanding of how you give you body enough calories to keep you healthy. Most active people need around 1800 calories a day so how are you getting them threw just fruit and vegies.

I estimated based on what you put in there and it looks like it's about 260 to 270 calories for the whole thing. I have to say that is no where near enough food for a meal for a regular person let alone an athlete. You're going to be eating all day with meals that small. Try an 8 banana smoothie with some greens and have way more energy.

@Semimaru A Green smoothie is a fruit smoothie with greens added. Victoria Boutenko invented it. It uses fruit to sweeten and for calories, greens are added so you can get more in your diet without having to chew them and the fruit masks the flavour. Greens have almost no calories, seaweed has almost no calories. Athletes need carbohydrates to burn as fuel. You can only get sufficient carbs from fruit on a raw vegan diet. There is no other option.

Back then everyone knew about the energy soup from Ann Wigmore using greens, sprouts and a little apple blended. It tasted awful and Victoria was trying to find a way to get more greens in without having to chew so many heads. She blended greens by themselves and couldn't stomach it. She took a chance on adding bananas and tried it again and has been teaching it since

What do you think about oxidation? I think using a juicer makes no sense... but I heard if you blend to long you lose fibra and also you kill the fruit? An its best to only blend for like 10-20seconds? Do you agree with this or do you think its a load of half a horse?

@delatroy You need to exercise on EVERY diet. There's no 'magic' diet that will keep you healthy. Sure, you can lose weight on a raw food diet, but it's much healthier to add exercise onto that :)

So, do you do nutritional consultations? I've been mostly raw for about a year now and I have come across some difficulties with digestion and low thyroid. I can't have too many goitrogenic foods. I want to do the green smoothies but am very limited. I would love to hear your opinion.

About the water thing...I'd rather not have fluoride in my water. "natural" water is spring water, it has a ppm of like <50 or something. water is just water, i'm NOT drinking it to get vitamins and nutrients because it's not rich in those things lol. That'd be like me eating potato chips to get my protein. Makes no sense. Also, that blender probably got pretty heated, destroying nutrients. I'll be investing in a slow juicer
I hate "eating" my smoothies bc unfortunately saliva tastes gross :)

At 3:45 you talk about the minerals in hard well water as being good. Hardness/minerals in water comes from dissolving stone that the water has come into contact with. Is that not INorganic minerals? Doesn't that go completely against what you were preaching from 1:00-1:30?

@dirtyc - Look I been watching many videos reading loads of stuff... there is going to be times where you say something that contradicts something else mostly because there is so much shite out there and its hard to know whats correct and whats not correct. However I have seen many water experts say they like to make sure the water is minerilesed because they believe that disttiled water would suck the minerals out of the body. Am pretty sure if you try swallow a big rock you could die! haha
