@MadDOG4780 According to Wikipedia, its a model named Dana Patrick (sounds very 90s typical; avoid putting the real "unattractive, fat singer" and replace with lipsynching model). :) Lorraine Crosby, a UK singer, was the original vocalist and did not want to appear in the video, I guess.

And since the vid had been started they got the model in and then got Lorraine Crosby last minute... shame really cos Lorraine was and still is a pretty lass and could have been in the vid.

I will always love this video, and this version of the song. But the album version has the question from the female vocalist and, when you hear all of them, the whole "exchange" makes more sense. Its one of those sad edits that actually change aspects of the song.

The lyrics are wrong. I have heard the "He won't do that" part for 20 years, and it makes no sense. If if will do anything for love, and there are scenarios that he will not do, then the lyric should be "I will do anything for love AND i won't do that" When you use the word but, your are stating that you will do anything for love, BUT, there is something you won't do. Steinman messed up with this. BUT, it's still a magnificent song. Top 10 of all time, if you ask me.

'that' is something that he refuses to do, that he's been asked of. why would he refuse not to do any of the things you've listed..they're all positive things. after the lines you've written, 'i would do anything for love, and i'll never do that' would be a more fitting line.

The singer is saying that he'll pretty much do anything she asks of him in the name of love, but there are things that he will never do ("I won't do that"). It works a bit better if you think of her telling him what he'll do, and him answering "I'll never" at the beginning of the "thats" :

Him: I'll never forget the way you feel right now

Her: You'll forgive yourself

Him: I'll never ...
