When he says that things become more random when describing entropy I think he's a little off. Consider the law of large numbers. Randomness is an ordered distribution of probabilities. Example: flip a coin a thousand times, the flips are considered random and with a large number such as a thousand you will see the distribution of the probabilities resulting in 50% heads, 50% tails. So even randomness is highly ordered.
You'll find a lot of the ideas (so far at least, e.g. the 'zillions of dimensions' in phase space) turn up again in 'The Road to Reality', itself very challenging but worth the mental effort.
