@WaCCo80 The amazing thing about US Scottish Rite conspiracy theories is that theorists tend to think that it takes years to go up the degrees, and that few ever get above the 30th degree where the alleged "real secrets of Masonry are found." What these theorists don't know is that degrees 4 through 32 are conferred on all candidate over the course of a day or two, and that 50% of American Masons are 32s.

So those "real" secrets are kept for, what?, a weekend, and millions of people know them.

@richcapo pretty much everything you said is spot on, but 50 percent of American Masons aren't 32s. In the Scottish Rite we would love it if half of all Master Masons joined but it's just not so.

However, life for the average modern man has much more freedom than it did for the average man of the old, pre-enlightenment regimes.
