The northern lights in real time still move with some speed... it's quite visible... you can even see waves of particles impacting the atmosphere on really dark nights after a CME. They look like single ripples on a pond and move VERY fast. Washes over the entire sky in less than half a second.
Added to favorites; these are GORGEOUS! Having never visited the Northland, having never seen the aurora borealis, you make my desire to see them that much more evident! Until then, I can see them in this beautiful video; thank you!
That is SOOOOOOO cool+creepy between the lights and the fog, never seen anything like it!
I saw an aurora from my house once, but it looked nothing like that! I've seen one that did look like that too, but I don't remember it well cuz it was seven or eight years ago and I was like six years old.
the moon rise along with the fog in the low lying areas is sooooo cool. And the clouds moved away just in time whew. And the green hue from the Oxygen is realy far out too!
LEt me just tell you all the lies you've been fed. The lights are coming directly from within the earth - look at the green light emanating from the ground and notice when there is a heavy cloud cover the lights are not visible.
Notice how a ship has shot up just near the end of the video. Yes, that light is not a meteor or camera anamoly.
the lights are actually coming directly from the sun (or mars i can't remember which is it)and are the result of solar winds.
and when theres heavy cloud cover of course you're not going to be able to see the lights because they DON'T come from the earth. you just proved yourself wrong.
Yes, that's what you think and that's they want you to think. Just study the material with open mind with possibilities. There is a time lapse-video on the net somewhere - I've downloaded it but lost it. In that video which was recorded by NASA showed the preceise point of where the lights were coming from.
The point of view of this taken is above the cloud line. The clouds stop any light from reaching the upper atmosphere. Look closely, use your scientific deduction correctly and you will see what is so obvious.
umm the northern lights are cuased when particles from space hit the earth magnetic field mixing them together makeing the white light that humans cant see visible colors that the human eyes can see and since its space and magnetic feild causing it/it makes it look like its comin from the ground when its not(sorry big science freak just trying to prove a point on scientific facts)
Hey!, what kind of camara did you use for this? I notice the stars are visible even when the sun is it? are the stars visible during the day time there? or is the camara a special one? Sorry if I sound ignorant. lol Im from the tropics.
I'm not an expert either, but it could be because BC it's so in the north that the sun doesn't go up enough to "hide" the stars, so they can be visible at daylight.
looks fantastic. some ambient music to go along with it would be nice and i think the perfect piece would be 'northen lights/southern cross' by steinar gregertson if he'd let you use it.
I live in Finland in Europe and you can see aurora in the next few weeks and late december in the north near lapland. I have never seenit myself but am plannig to go there to try and maybe get some videos myself. thanks for this video mate i cant wait to see more.
Hey! I got to thinking about it, and it is worth noting that only the nothernmost parts of BC are far enough north to experience the midnight sun or at least a midnight twilight. Most of it is not THAT far north. For example you wouldn't see it in Vancouver.
British Columbia is situated at such a northern latitude that they experience what is known as "the midnight sun" at certain points of the year. This means that the sun peeks accross the horizon in the middle of the night and partially illuminates the sky from a low angle giving a sort of twilight effect for many hours. So you see the stars and the sun. But I've never seen such striking footage of it. That's really beautiful.
this really is beautiful, i would love to witness it some day, takes your attention away from all the crap in this world and makes you remember there are still beautiful happenings
I can't stop watching this! Geo-synchronis satellite? Is that the objects on the right that don't move the one at 1 o'clock and approx. 4 o'clock. What are they? I want to know more!!! I'll never watch TV again,YouTube why did you sell.
No, those are almost certainly just marks on the lense (perhaps dew). At the very end of the video, you can see them in front of the clouds that move in.
8 seconds in its like the clouds paint the sky with stars. It's so beautiful. I love how the stars rotate, it's like watching the earth move! It's the most captivating thing I ever watched.
This is great. I knew in theory that if you stood at the bottom of a shaft like a well, you could see the stars in daytime, but have never seen optics that did this. The constellations moving around the pole in time lapse and daytime aurora were a very interesting capture.
Actually, this video was most certainly take at night.
You see, in order to take this video (which is actually composed of many still shots that are combined), the exposure times on the camera must be very long.
As a result, what you're seeing in the video is an over-exposed, likely full or near-full *moon* rising over the scene.
it happens from september to october and march to april so go back and plan your trip again, its not manmade to be shown at any time, its nature, it has its own schedule.
i live in sweden and if you're gonna watch the sky you would probably see 10 stars or less...i wish the sky here would be like in this video, seeing meteor showers and stuff like that ^^
Totally cool. This is why youtube is so great (it's easy to forget why you look at this sight with all the creeps). I saw the northern lights in Minneapolis once.
I want to go watch one of these one day :)

Guys..we're not literally seeing the world rotating, because we live on the surface of the Earth.
What we are seeing is the stars appearing to rotate because the Earth is rotating.

"when its cold enough during the night you can see it"
it's not about cold. It's about relative luminosity of the sun
"the altitude in which the suns energy gets trapped causes its color and how it moves like that. "
It's not about altitude. It's chemical compounds in the earth ionosphere. On jupiter for instance the color will be different.
and the way it moves is caused by electromagnetic interactions between earth's and sun's magnetosphere
