  • Seems really daft that people are penalised for essentially drawing attention to songs, which can surely only do good for the originals... Well anyway, we love your musc - originals, covers, live performances... ALL OF IT!

  • Seeso: KNow how I came upon your channel? Because sooo many people uploading videos on utube mention seeso, and got the tabs from you. You sure are a wonderful player (I never heard such a fine rendition, other than the Crow's themselves, of "You Talk To Angels"). You are generous to upload and link PDFs to your music. Thank you.

  • @coolkayaker1 No problem. Thanks.

  • we follow you don't warry

  • well will you look at that, he can even make good music with no instruments too.

  • :((( What a shame.

  • Just yesterday I found the mp3s I downloaded of your covers... I have listened to them many times since and many thanks for placing them there so long ago for me to enjoy now.

    Ka Kite From NZ

  • @lukekendyer No problem, Ka Kite. Peace.

  • Hey seeso, I hope you found another place for your videos. The google takeover has messed with a lot of good things, but all you can do is adapt. Have a good one my friend.

  • @DaneUni Dane, I did find a new place. I just made a different channel for them. It's called "seesocovers." Hope all is well, my friend.

  • Wow, something for new ukulele players (like me) to look forward to. I think it's totally out of line for them to do that. It's not like you're making millions off of the covers or anything..just trying to have some fun.

  • I didn't see the implication of these words when you first spoke 'em and now I do. Congratulations on starting 'seesocovers'. I hope the copyright dogs stop hounding you and we can continue listening to the singer we think is so great - you!

  • It's ridiculous that you can't even make COVERS now!!!

  • How do you save the stuff that you already posted. I guess you have to save it before.

Anyway I love all your stuff. Keep the music live.

    Val

  • @valteodori I just made sure I kept them all. BTW, I have uploaded my covers to a new channel. You can find them at "seesocovers."

  • @seeso I already Subed. Thanks

  • @valteodori No, thank you!

  • That sucks bigtime :(

  • Eep. Did they give you warnings even if you had fair use disclaimers on them?

  • I was driving tractor, cutting the fields all day long, with the headphones on. So glad I had some of the audio files of those lost videos, too. "Angel", "Hotel California", "Ain't no Sunshine". Perfect music for watching the hawks surfin' the skies and eating the field mice. Sad about the loss, and I appreciate your efforts.

  • Oh my Shit!!!! ???? :((((

    Pooiest news today!

  • se les va la pinzaaaaaaaaaaaaa pero telaaaa! i'm sorry, i just had to yell at mad copyright issues i'm my native language first. i'm really sorry for thisl. so all of the people doing covers are going to be kicked out of youtube?? that's crazy! ARGhhh. u tube stennchh is growing and growing :S we should all make a protest song and have a super big collab singing together an original protest song! :D

  • You should hit American Idol next time around man - and start cashing checks.

    You are a mad talent.

Re: the record companies clamping down on covers... what's to be said that hasn't been.. They are fools.

You should look back into the old catalogs of stuff out of copywrite maybe...

There is a wealth of material and I would personally listen to you sing just about anything.

  • @thelastmike Thanks a lot, man.

  • I loved "Crazy Train" on the uke. Keep up the good work.

  • Wow, that sucks Seeso, but It doesn't surprise me though. With the economy the way it is, I'm sure the record companies are lashing out at people who they think are costing them money.

Look at Hulu. Television studios are pulling shows off there because of dwindling ad revenue. I feel that YouTube might be next.

Anyways, I support copyright laws, but I don't see the purpose of picking on YouTube musicians who are clearly not making money off of these types of videos. It's just bad business.

  • B.S.

Rage! Seriously. I do not approve of this, record companies!

  • So ridiculous... what's the point? Nearly any cover that I've listened to on YouTube has made me think "Hey, I like this song, I should buy the original!" not "This is a perfect substitute for purchasing the original.". Idiotic, talk about stifling culture - makes me so angry.

  • suuuucks bro. learned a lotta songs from you and picked up new strum patterns. mahalo and good luck

  • Ludicrous. Ludicrous. Ludicrous. and by that I mean the word, not the artist. Please do not remove my comment, as well.

  • Hey, Seeso.. The same thing happened to me. I don't know what to do, I don't have many originals, and I really don't wanna get suspended!

  • It's this kind of BS that makes me avoid buying anything copyrighted. That's my revenge, they never get a nickel of my money. It is unfortunate that the artists have to lose out because of their cartel copyright holders.

  • It seems posting anything by the Eagles or their former members is a sure way to invite copyright problems.

  • Harsh brother, real harsh. I'm sorry. I was actually just coming by to show a good friend how amazing your stuff was. Thank God that the best things you have are your own songs. You keep posting your stuff, we'll keep watching. Play on Seeso.

  • That sucks. Total BS. Just annoying as hell.

  • That sucks man, I've been following your for a long time and your originals and covers are all great. You know if the actual original artists heard your covers most would be down with what you are doing. It sucks that the record companies would come in and shut down someone making wonderful works of art.

  • what a load of BOLL*CKS!!!

  • don't worry we follow you not the industry.

  • My fiance and I love your work!!! We will be looking for you.

  • That sucks.

I'm not buying music produced by corporate money grubbers anymore. From now on I'm just buying from independents.

Not only are they greedy, but they're stupid. Good covers like yours make their music more popular.

I had never heard of "Say Anything" until I saw a cover by Julia Nunes and then Im bought a Say Anything CD.

Covers are a great and free marketing tool, but they are too stupid to realize it.

  • I bought the song hotel california off of itunes after i heard your cover. these copyright people are so stupid. im sorry man

  • Tori Amos - Smells like teen spirit

up 3 years and 3 mil hits!!!

what she has permission to use????

  • so the hell is

Eric Clapton - I Shot the Sheriff

doing up? its up 3 years now with 3 mil hits!!!

    what he has "permission"???

  • What a shame! What is the world coming to if we can't enjoy somebody else's free rendition of a song. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. WMG is the sincerest form of greed. I hope you get all your songs back and online again.

  • Wow! Really?! That is...absolutely insane. I'm reeling... sorry to hear you have to deal with this madness seeso! Good thing you kept copies.

  • look fwd to more of your vids...once you find a less restrictive site.

  • A real shame.

  • I hope you didnt delete, waiting in vain..thats the one that got me into the ukulele, thanks for being my inspirtation to play a uke.

  • google... :( They cant stop xD

  • The major labels are really clamping down on copyright. They don't seem to appreciate that a cover can help draw people to the original, and therefore increase sales. I can't see a problem when someone doing a cover is not doing it for profit. I hope you find a new home for your videos - and keep making music.

  • Can hardly believe youtube has done this Man - it's so stupid. As people have already noted, guys like you and I doing covers of songs is a way of paying tribute to the songs, so in fact we're helping to get those guys' material 'out there' to more people who'd almost definitely seek ou the originals as a result.

Keep the faith Dude - and keep stickin' it to the Man!

  • Wow!?!? I...AM...shocked!!!

  • keep up the good work my man. love listening to your music.

  • man youtube is so fucking gay, why would you be copyrighted for singing your own version of the song? so retarded

  • hey seeso can't wait to see some originals and please keep me up to date on where you put the covers, you have some great stuff buddy

    Ken g

  • If you aren't profiting from posting those videos how can they get you? ASCAP is ridiculous. Next they'll be shaking down buskers.

  • how is a performance for no monetary or any commercial gain be an infringement???

I love your work. Please keep trying

  • The Hotel California video was my favourite. How can you enter a contest without being able to record what you're doing?! assholes.

Keep up the excellent work dude!

  • dang. that sucks, dude. i'll be keeping an eye out for the reuploads.

  • "They" are claiming your covers are copyright infringement?!?! Major B.S.!! I'd look deeper into this.

What, are they going to try and shut down every cover band out there making a bit of $ playing in bar on the weekends....puh-leez.

  • this just infuriates me, if anything I'm sure having these covers on youtube get people interested in bands they might not have otherwise known about and this way everyone loses.

  • ARRGGGGG....my favourite blackbird is gone!!!!

  • Bummer man! Just don't do any Eagles in the future....

  • ahhh, the pirate is in your blood, m'boy. (and these copyrights, are more "guidelines" than rules, mate).

  • Love you, pissed at Warners. Simple as that.

  • It SUCKS that you can't upload covers! Gawd. Why are they being so fantatic about this thing?

  • thats a shame. i loved all your covers. but the originals are still gonna keep me coming back to your channel.

  • It's such a shame, Seeso.

  • Hey man, I love ya!!! XD

    Am back after literally CENTURIES!!!

    All the best for ya!

  • Nahhhh... I can't believe it!!

  • sorry seeso :( glad you still have your copies of your covers though, looking forward to seeing them again

  • I really enjoy all of your videos. Are they doing this to everyone? If so, there will be way fewer videos on YouTube.

  • Can anyone suggest any other sites besides youtube? This may be signs that we should migrate away??

  • It's a sign of the times. The lawyers and the profit-mongers are hell bent on killing joy.

  • It is a sad time indeed when you can't even play our favourite songs and share them with others. The price we pay for others greed.

Seeso, thanks for all the videos. You're an awesome dude. Keep smiling and strumming

  • vimeo!

  • dude that sucks!!! this is why youtube is getting lamer and lamer

  • how do you post a cover without having copyright issues then? did they tell you how?

  • :)!!love ya seeso

  • You are a great musician. Keep spreading the aloha.

  • Ima gonna cry now.

  • :(:(:(:(:(

  • Seriously, that's screwed up. I'm glad I saved your War Pigs cover as an mp3 before this went down!

Good luck sticking it to the man.

  • Wow .. that's crazy!!

  • hey seeso im gutted ! was just gona watch your chilli cover :-) ....... feel for ya bud.... hope you can get round this all the best from the beast !

  • see seeso this is what happens when youre all awesome and famous lol people notice you.. good thing about sucking is noone yells at your for doing a cover woot woot ! but serioisly bro that sucks ! a cover is NOT copyright infrindgement its just someone jamming. they just so happened to video tape that jam sesh

  • Second time I hear about this in two days. It did not feel any less fucked up this time.

How could covers be considered copyright infringement? How can a series of notes possibly be "intellectually" owned? It's not even like people here try to make money from it!

The original artists should be proud that people like their work enough to reproduce it! But then again the artists probably don't own their work, it's owned by some fat bald guy in Los Angeles and he feels he ain't fat enough yet...

  • This is just getting ridiculous. YouTube is shooting itself in the foot by giving in to these lawyers. If they keep up the good work, pretty soon there won't be anything worthwhile on this site. Congratulations, YouTube, on your self-destruction.

Anyway, I love listening to your covers, and I hope to see them someplace else again soon!

  • it's pretty absurd that covering a song is considered copyright violation.

  • Don't be so blue! I can't see you in this mood! Hope it'll be better!!!! I like your vids so much, cause you fill them with your cheerfulness.

    Good luck!

  • What if, say, 50,000 seeso fans/Uke fanatics all posted the same cover and then dared the powers that be to shut us all down...

And then, if they did....Well, we could respond with a 'fine, go ahead'...and then we could all take a walk to another venue.

Wonder how they'd like them apples?

    .

  • seeso,

You and your son have been such an inspiration for me. This August '09, I just picked up the uke again after 37 years! My one and only, old soprano Kamaka is starting to vibrate badly but I hope to be up to full speed soon. Thanks for sharing your great videos. My favorites have been the Wonderful World tribute, Fire and Rain, Rolling me Down the Highway, and IWant You Back. Also loved Evil Hamster's Sultans of Swing, Scar Tissue, and father-son duet.

    Mahalo,

    shinrips

  • bob damn it. i'm gonna miss your love me tender cover most of all. no one does that song like you. this sucks man.

  • Thanks for letting us know, Ciso. The last thing we want is for you to lose your channel so continue to be a good boy and do exactly what the bosses tell you to do. I think it will be terrific if we can squeeze some new material out of you. The future is bright. Just hang in there!

  • Sorry Seeso! Make your own web page man! ;-) Post everything ya like! ;-)

  • this is why youtube sucks. we need to find a new one.

  • I can't see how you covering a song on an ukulele is going to have an impact on somebody's bottom line. I think somebody has way too much time on their hands. I'm glad I got to see them before they got taken down.

  • That blows !

  • I wonder, If the Eagles covered one of your songs, would they be asked to take their cover down?Would it be considered stealing royalties from you? Would you be upset that your song was being spread around the world via YT? I had one of my covers taken down, and its from 'the great american songbook'! IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Good luck to you Seeso.

  • Thanks for letting us know seeso. I had a copyright claim on my chan for a snippet i took from TV. I refuted the claim (long story) and YT reinstated my video! But I also had a home movie with a small section of audio from Peter Tosh removed from some countries. This whole covers issue is BS though, I'm sure it constitutes fair use. Otherwise every open mic is a pirate convention!!

  • this sucks... YT lost a lot of good stuff because of this...

  • Does anyone love a lawyer nowadays?

It was perhaps inevitable but good luck

    S

  • This is such a shame... although have no worries will follow your music where ever you upload it. Keep the covers coming.

  • What the..? That's just dumb! I don't even have the original files for most of my vids anymore :(

  • Thats crap Seeso man. This is just getting ridiculous and happening more and more.

    Keep smiling mate.

  • Sucks for all of us.

  • That sucks! Looking forward to new videos man, peace.

  • Craziest thing ever. F**king lawyers. As if your stuff doesn't make them sales if you do a good job.

  • that sucks......

but hey, your originals are awesome

and you are such a talent!!!!

the important thing is that they dont

    shutdown your channel!!!!!

  • Mad love for you man.

Just goes to show how misaligned many people's hearts are these days. I do not believe that the artists themselves are upset over the covers. I'd assume, perhaps falsely, that the companies holding these properties are the ones making the fuss. It is a shame, and a gross example of their myopic view of the world and how disconnected to the current reality they are.

    peace,

  • It's definitely the companies doing this. Consider that one of his taken down covers was written 37 years ago, and the author has long since passed away (I shot the sheriff - Bob Marley) Copyright is constantly being extended and used/abused well beyond the laws original intent.

  • That is totally bs. I sure hope i don't get in trouble singing on the way to work!!!!

  • THAT IS BS.

Have you tried vimeo? I think that is what it is called.

  • I think a cover is not like putting the original song on the website, that's just too silly because they leave original songs up and pursue people who cover...

    Nonsense!

  • I am sorry of this...This story is ridiculous...

  • But aren't your covers all created 100% by you?

  • man, that sucks. sorry to hear that seeso

  • Sorry to hear that Ciso.. seems like Don Henley and The Eagles suddenly got a stick up their ass.. they've hit a few of the pages I've subscribed to.. always look forward to your vids.. peace.

  • So Happy! Well, that sucks :( but, I love your originals! They're the best! <3

  • I am so sorry to hear about this. We're behind you all the way, whatever you decide to do!

  • Featureman smartly gets his covers around the copyright laws by making them educational. Could you not include chords on how to play?

Oh well. Silver lining.... You write amazing songs yourself and if this motivates you to get writing, well, good then!

  • sorry to hear that, I watch alot of your videos, ya thats why I wont put up anything that didnt 100% originate from me...seems theres always someone out there waitin to take issue with creative artists. Hey just make some rockin originals itll be just as good if not better!

  • What a bunch of BS.......

  • thats mostly all i do on here is watch covers. i dont see how its hurting anbody, its not like theyre making money off of it.

  • how frustrating for you...:(

  • it's stupid that people have to be so stingy. musicians all over the world dream of having one beloved song, and the ones who are fortunate enough for that to happen won't let people play them. wtf?! you shouldn't be able to profit from their songs without paying royalties, but if you only play them because you love them, then i say you should be able to cover whatever. yt is like an international living room. if i want to sit on your couch and listen to you sing cover songs i should be able to.

  • I got the local cops staking out my kid's bus stop busting parents for dropping off their kids the wrong way. WTF is wrong with people? You are the greatest, I love all your stuff. I will follow you wherever you post!

  • whhhhhaaat. omg that's so lame. so sorry you had to remove your cover vids seeso. gosh youtube.

  • oh man....that sucks...i've got a few of your covers down as my favorites...:( it's been happening to a few people lately...

  • That is very unfortunate, you are very good!

this has gotten so crazy that you are not free to sing and play the songs that you know and love.

They say file sharing is killing the record industry, but they are killing the music

  • Damn,. thats crap..

    good luck,

  • are using samples of other peoples work and arent getting nailed with copyright infringement. I really dont think that youtube is doing its due diligence investigating peoples copyright claims

  • That really sucks seeso. I always like the videos you post. Make sure you let us know where you post your videos if you have to go somewhere else. I think its pretty heavy handed on youtubes part to make you take them down. I really dont think that they can call it copyright infringement since YOU are playing the music, I can see if you were posting a copy of the original artists music or music video, but I think youtube needs to pull its head out of its @ss. Just look at how many artists today

  • man dude that really **** I don't know what to say.

You are the greatest, Your originals are still the bomb, so its all good.

cheers bud you will figure this out im sure of it.

  • any chance i can get a copy of mercy mercy mercy in HD? lol you have it in 1080p?

  • Dude, that sucks... still love your work.

  • Seeso,

You have been a greatly inspirational figure in the ukulele community. I am sorry that your covers have been taken off of youtube. Those covers have been a valued resource here on youtube for ukulele learners such as myself. The effort you have put into creating tabs and uploading videos made you the exemplary youtuber that you are. There is not much you can do about the DMCA laws, or the people aiming to shoot you down. Good Luck! and Keep strumming.

  • sorry dude will continue to watch.

  • Heya Seeso,

Sorry to hear about that man, same thing happened to Reina.

Luckily my channel is too smal to have been noticed yet, cause it's al covers.

That and I refused partnership on a vid.

  • That is so disappointing, I just watched ReinaDelCid's latest youtube on the same subject.

  • Aahh bro Im sorry to hear about that man, pfftt cant even cover a song now days, what a shame.

  • Thanks for the tip! That situation totally sucks.

  • Bastards!! That's it, I'm never buying music again, it's all robbery from here on in.

  • I say, support the independents and let it go at that. Otherwise, it's all about the money,....and I'm guessing they have more than any of us have,.......original is where it's at,...support it!!

  • Record companies are a bunch of assholes.

  • This sucks. Just remember folks be careful of who and how you purchase your music, otherwise you are funding and contributing to this sort of thing. The reason this is happening is that a dinosaur of business model is struggling to maintain control of a market.

  • Dang, Seeso this is bad news indeed. I'll take this serious and will probably make another channel for my covers now. I really like all of your videos, since they are not just "copies" but real interpretations and you have surely made them your own - each one of them! Why is this happening so often lately? What's wrong with these people? First Sebi, then Deach and now you, too. Don't let them get you down, Seeso. I really love your music, that's for sure! Cheers, Dirk.

  • This is such bad news - for all of us. You want to know who is killing music? Music company lawyers. Once lawyers get involved in anything, the only people (I use the term loosely) who win are lawyers. We want music by the people, for the people and of the people - screw the corporations and lets look forward to the next magnificent Seeso original. YOU rock - THEY suck.

  • Suggestion - new channel called something like SeesoCovers?

  • I dont know if you listen to reinadelsid here on the tube but the same thing happened to her recently. the tube is cracking down!! Im just glad they give warnings. Stay up stay lifted bro, looking forward to more originals

  • man, that's just messed up. It's not like you uploaded their music. Just their cover. Ugg .. so frustrating.

  • Man that sucks .. these record companies are getting ridiculous! I swear to god, I'm going to be in the shower one day singing Desperado and some thugs from Capital Records are gonna kick my door down and threaten a lawsuit. It's a freaking cover!! not like u were putting copies from the original artists availiable for DL! Peace Seeso.

  • That sucks Seeso! Be strong and write more great originals! We'll all be watching.

  • aww, man. I'm glad you got a warning before further action was taken. However, I'm excited to hear your new original! :D

Keep it coming and keep your head up!

  • There's a lot of this going around youtube right now. Hang in there man.

  • that freaking blows!

  • I'm sorry for that! Keep your head up, man! Who needs all those covers of those copyright protected songs? There is so much free music which is even better than this stuff. UU is full of fantastic songwriters, who are happy, when their songs are covered.

  • That's suchhhh bs, people who do covers make some songs actually sound more listenable. Whats next the record company's sending there copyright mafia around to local bars to tell musicians doing covers to stop!

It's a pity they haven't figured out that if someone hears a cover they usually go listen to the original song (also on youtube) and if they like it go buy that song, its free advertising... ah well im going to go have breakfast now and go swear a lil bit ;)

    R.I.P Seeso covers.

  • Hey the same thing happened to Reina Del Cid!

this really sucks. Seeso you're amazing.

    Your originals kick ass anyway,

    you're golden

  • I'm going to report those bullies to the headmaster

  • 'Stay Up, Stay Lifted'

    love and support

  • @sketchleysnewboat , awesome comment!

  • hey yo you sound like joe pesci ova here! lol

  • Seeso, I'm so sorry this happened to you. D:

  • I think we all agree with you, Seeso. You certainly have my support :)

  • You have my support Seeso i really love your music so don't mind this, it really sucks but keep up the amazing work dude.

  • things like this really piss me off

    some people are idiots

  • Hi, Seeso. I do not understand the copyright owners of hit songs objecting to a person singing their song. You do all the songs justice and the song is better after you have sung it, You are great. Never change.

    U.S. copyright law

Since the Copyright Act of 1909, in the United States there has been a right to record a version of someone else's tune, whether of music alone or of music and lyrics.[7] A license can be specifically negotiated between representatives of the interpreting artist and the copyright holder, or recording of published tunes can fall under a mechanical license whereby the recording artist pays a standard royalty to the original

  • author/copyright holder through an organization such as the Harry Fox Agency, and is safe under copyright law even if they do not have any permission from the original author. The mechanical license was introduced by Congress in order to head off an attempt by the Aeolian Company to monopolize the piano roll market.

  • While a composer cannot deny anyone a mechanical license for a new recorded version, he or she has the right to decide who will release the first recording of a song; Bob Dylan took advantage of this right when he refused his own record company the right to release a live recording of "Mr. Tambourine Man".
