  • Even though it sounds a LITTLE pedo-ish, its still lovely.

  • @FlyingLightbulb I think so too.

  • pedo bear approves ;)

  • Thumbs up if hsbc sent you here.

  • I'm on the weird part of youtube again

  • This must be the paedophiles national anthem.

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD Lmao.. Coming from a guy with your play list .. Glass House Alert !!!!!Looser you are probably one !

  • Yes. Truly lovely, life affirming song...

  • Maurice was wonderful, what a wonderful song. You know we live in a day and age of political correctness ( heck when have politics EVER been correct) and suspicion.

Thanks for wonderful good things from the past. You know who beautiful was Audrey Hepburn, her style the fashion, some thing wonderful.

Yes girls are Suger and spice and all thinks nice

    Long live grace and beauty

  • Aaah, Vicki. <3

  • This is charming so lovely x

  • yeah he's brilliant....but he's a registered sex offender in Fl lol

  • I also think that the whole opening scene here sets up the whole movie. He's not a paedophile.. he sees the potential in girls to become a woman and if you think about it.. that is the whole French philosophy to see potential in joy.

  • Chevalier was the greatest entertainer ever.

  • Maurice Chevalier was such a wonderful actor and entertainer I can hardly find the superlatives. For anyone who is not familiar with his work this scene epitomizes his charm and elegance. This film, Gigi won 10 Oscars and it wasn't enough. This is about as perfect a musical; as anyone will ever watch. If you liked Singing in the Rain, An American in Paris, and The Music Man then you will love this film.

  • ohhh chevalier!!!! what a smile you have!

  • Wooo, bo-eh, how times have changed since the '50s? Am I right?

  • Yes they have changed. In some way for the better but in so many ways for the worse.

  • creepy

  • It is hard to teach sophisitication an so regrettably forgotten a shame that young girls are not taugh how to walze how to speak correctly how to BEHAVE. This film is a lesson on how to behave and grow delightfully y

  • I know people keep saying its all very innocent but when he mentions being a "collector of beautiful things" and that "little girls get bigger everyday"

It gives off the impression hes scouting for a future mistress...

  • this is the theme song for illuminati satanists

  • and old man sittin in the park enjoyin watchin little girls......you dont have to be a pervert to find this funny

  • chomo

  • Waaaah, I miss Chevalier!!!

  • PEDO-BEAR!!!!!!!!!

  • 2:37 was Chevalier's classic A-Ha! moment.

  • @ultradrive08 In case that wasn't a joke. It's so random. Tiny minds-tiny thoughts should have been on the next line. My comment was response to comments that have since been removed. Jay-Z is a music icon of the twenty-first century who is more well known than Lerner and Lowe who were music icons in the mid 20th century. The society has changed alot in 60 years. Cole Porter wrote a song in the 30's called "Anything Goes" the lyrics apply to the society now just as it did then.

  • PERV!

  • This movie is about Paris at the turn of the century. Maurice Chevalier was a brilliant entertainer. Lerner and Lowe contributed much to the Great American Song Book which it seems none of you know anything about. If the human race is still here in 50 years, I wonder what they will read into the music and lyrics of Jay-Z as he is a contributer to the Great American Song Book. Tiny minds-tiny thoughts

  • @100689kafrin Racist.

  • @100689kafrin naiveyoutubecomment.txt

  • oops lol she's either an old hag by now or in a pinebox nvm

  • who'se the hot number at 2:23 flirting to that old coot?

  • I always thought this song was less "pedophile" and more "genuinely innocent fatherly affection until they're old enough that I can screw them," because let's face it, in this movie Maurice Chevalier's character is a player. It's still creepy, but not nearly as creepy as if he really were a pedophile.

  • Pedofile warchant

  • Great movie. I've always loved the line "Now for example here we find

    Exhibit A, the married kind

These ladies stood their ground and won

And I salute them, every one". There's a deep meaning to these words that women today should understand. There is or should be a dignity and honor about being married person.

  • another good example for the fact that the recipient matters. one must have a very sick mind to have a problem with this song. Lerner & Loewe were decent, gifted people.

  • I had the entire movie uploaded to YouTube. Then it was removed. :( What a disappointment. Oh, YouTube! It's a bore!!

  • This is my favortie movie ever. And just today I managed to find it on DVD...OH HAPPY DAY!! I agree that people only see filth in what is an innocent appreciation for the way beautiful little girls become beautiful strong women, and the unexplainable power we have that turns the most confident men into nervous boys . And really, what would little boys do without little girls, and visa versa ? Why do people always want to turn anything good and pure into smut? NOT ALL MEN ARE MONSTERS!!!

  • @TheLaurieLover true. But there's something disturbing about the lyrics which I noticed even the first time I watched this movie when I was nine and which would have been considered creepy even by 1950's standard. Plus, with all the violence against little girls and children in general which has come to light in the last decades, grown men interacting with small childrens is (understandbly) regarded with suspicion. They should have changed the lyrics.

  • I'm with you, boomshanka9. People see nothing but selfish perverted desire in someone anymore. The guy is obviously not a pedophile, and merely rejoices at the innocence of little girls, and how they somehow change so wonderfully into women who can charm a man into almost anything. Kudos to Monsieur Chevalier!

  • I too have always found it to be a lovely song. My mum and dad even bought me a music box that had its own version of it. But now, as a teacher and being one who is constantly entrenched in the fields of political correctness, the song now seems bloody creepy. I think that's wrong. It's an innocent depiction.

  • This is one of my favorite songs and I just love this lovely video !!
