The battle of Chaeronea was NOT a battle between Macedonia and Greece, it was a battle between the Greek kingdom of Macedonia and some of the Greek city states primarily Athens and Thebes. Greece then was not unified nation, nothing like Macedonian kingdom which was unified monarchy. There were more than 150 Greek city-states, all with different governing sistems. Alexander was taught by Greek teachers and philosophers had the same Gods, similar food and very similar culture, and alot of cities were of Greek origin in their name, but there were some differences. The Greek people and the Hellenic culture they represent have been around for 4,500 to 5,000 years. They are one of the oldest civilizations in history, and the oldest "modern" civilization on Earth. To deny that would be laughable in anybody's eyes. When a culture is around for that long, it tends to leave its mark. @MojaSnimka - Greeks often fought other Greeks, called each other names. Two Greek coalitioins fought for dominance of Greece-Hellas.. Makedon, Thessaly, Lokrous, Focea. The other side was the Athenian-Theban Coalition. Other Greeks were neutral.
Phillip summoned a Pan-Hellenic convention near Corinth where he declared all Greeks would unite to avenge the prior Persian invasions against Greece.. Phillip would be Chief In General of the unified Greeks for future campaigns against Persia

Everything in Macedonian history is only Greek - all the names, language, symbols, coins, cities, people, culture, history. Demonsthenes was an Athenian Greek - he insulted Phillip because he did not want Phillip's politics. All Macedonians showed they were Greek and were self identifying Greeks.
