  • @bhbhbh01 ebough with Petrucci he isn't anything special ...so many people praising him as some lord -he is just a guitarist - u can find someone better easy

  • @SirotaKurcina jp is a monster song writer. look at what he has created.. his guitar playing aint too shappy either

  • Comment removed

  • @toasterbread87 yes but never would take him over satriani - satriani built his unique tone and style while Petrucci sound can be easily copied because it is not original

  • MAn. What I nice Guy,. Im Impressed,. Genuiouiungnley.;

    _he-he. NO, KIdding.,

  • The best guitar player EVER!!

  • lol that's funny when he starts to talk about fingering :D

  • Joe is no joke...He's been around a while and is a real Guitar Player for sure and on top of that he's the type of guy you don't mind having a beer or 3 with.....

  • I pressed "2x speed" and realized "He can probably down-pick that" well, guess I should go burn my guitar now

  • he looks like a crack head lol hes need to have a sleep get off that bender

  • he's the same guy who taught kirk hammett

  • @Triplewave4 and steve vai

  • @Triplewave4 Sorry but that is not an endorsement. I think satch is ashamed of kirk

  • Idk what else to say but THANK YOU JOE! THANK YOU...

I had this bump on my wrist for the longest and I just looked it up to find that I have a cyst...

I was totally bummed because it made playing guitar kinda difficult and it's my dream to play in a band with my bud and this sharp pain comes in everytime I play...

I practice a few of these techniques for an hour each, through the pain and it's beginning to subside...

Your techniques are truly works of magic, man...

    I owe you my life...

  • he knows all his scales and theory, but you can still make it rock without that knowledge and still be a great player. I doubt Hendrix knew about modes or all the intervals names etc

  • @Gonzoidz While your assertion is accurate, you're mistaken about Hendrix. Next time you make that argument go with Slash. He can't even read sheet music. Cheers. =)

  • @fuseunison

You think Hendrix knew his theory? Doubt it. Slash can read some sheet music, says so in his book, although reading sheet music for rock is pointless.

  • @Gonzoidz There's a documentary movie about Hendrix that uses a lot of recorded conversations with him. Can't remember what it's called but I'm sure you can find it if you google "Hendrix Documentaries"....anywho, in it he talks about the difficulties he had learning modes and scales when he was younger. Yeah, I never read Slash's book, but I remember when Appetite for Destruction came out, there was a Rolling Stone article where he talked about his lack of any formal knowledge.

  • @fuseunison

Unless you can give me the direct link I just don't believe Hendrix knew about modes, if he did he didn't use them. I play a whole load of his stuff and it's blues based. It means so little though, he used the full twelve notes of the octave although it was centred on pentatonic.

  • dont judge me mf i been trying for 10 years i suck its nothing to do with attitude its a simple matter of ability and accepting that i just dont cut it at that level !

  • i tried this for ages , my pinky wont go were i want it, my pinky sucks, look at the size of his pinky its almost the same size as his middle finger, i suck so bad im giving up !

  • @Ryboner1 With that attitude it's probably for the best

  • king

  • He looks like the guy from Meet the Fockers

  • @MrVHWolf Ben Stiller?

  • looks like the dogs have been chewing on your hat again

  • Pretty good for a man wearing a tea-cosy.

  • satch is so humble and cool...that its so hard to slam his playing..

  • yeah but he's still not as goo...ah forget it

  • Lord Voldemort here can play the hell out of that fucking guitar.

  • Satriani is AWSOME Kirk hammet learned from one of the best

  • @dk123ify who's kirk hammet?

  • @fauzo86 RUN, you fools

  • wax on, wax off - Joe is the Mr Miagi of guitar :D

  • Thank You Master

  • What is an eGuitarist?

  • @punchyouintheneck Electric Guitarist

  • I like how he has such control over his field that he can perform it and still maintain a chill state of mind (talking casually without disruption).

  • @salasvalor01 you get impressed easily, you must never have touched a guitar before

  • @Herolake There was no hint of being impressed in my statement. I have a guitar an amp in my room, actually.

  • Satriani i love your simplicity to teach!!!.... because many guitarrists when "teaching" they are just showing off their guitar skills

  • @racheguitarrist

    you're right :D

  • @racheguitarrist

Correct they do! Its difficult to not play the guitar when someone asks how you do something, its hard to just talk but Satriani gets the balance here. He's confident and knows very well what he's talking about.

  • @racheguitarrist I guess that is because he is such a genuine person. I can just listen him talk or even look at him holding his guitar and that inspires me.

  • joe satriani gran profesor, seguire tus sabios consejos

  • how do guitarist bend like that i play bass and guitar and i do wild bends on my bass but when i try to do it on guitar i just get a wobble

  • @WiiGamerof1995 the strings you are using are probably too thick. if you want nice bends, try light strings.

  • @elixir252 well ok maybe 30.

  • @elixir252 Hes fifty fucking five?

oh my god. He looks 20

  • Your magic is better than Harry Potters.

  • Joe Satani

  • thank you guitar god

  • dont trust him he tought kirk whammet:)

  • @666ilikepie so what? kirk hammet sucks because he sucks. look at steve vai, for example. he kicks ass. satch taught him.

  • @666ilikepie LMAO!

  • @MegaBradley01 michal angel batio can l0l

  • @MegaBradley01

You can repeat anything with enough careful study and repetive exercise.

This is probably aimed at people with previous guitar experience, obviously you can't immediately pick up a guitar and instantly be awesome. It requires time, dedication, and endless practise and frustration.

    I personally found this useful.

Also, I love Joe's style, but I think Yngwie Malmsteen is a little bit better. =]

    That's personal opinion though.

  • @TrashDeviant

I guess the point I was making is don't be put off just because somethign is difficult.

Keep trying, if you want it enough, you'll get it. Keep your eyes on the prize.

  • @TrashDeviant

    Tu eres molto stupido!

  • @MegaBradley01

Non corretti, tu sei il stupido. Venite a me bro

Also, English, please! Don't make me google translate some epic spiel in Italian. I don't even speak Italian. Come at me with some German or Japanese, I might have been bothered.

I tried being nice, giving positive encouragement, but you just proved your type isn't worth praise or encouragement.

I wipe my ass with your face. Good day sir.

  • @MegaBradley01

Non hanno nemmeno alcun upload. O anythign a tutti. Piscine chiuse!

  • @MegaBradley01 Go! Essere andato! L'abbonamento a Youtube è scaduto e non si hanno punti di intelligenza sufficiente per l'acquisto di più tempo. Addio!

  • I kind of feel bad for Peavey now that Joe dumped them

  • Great lesson Joe.

  • any1 else think he luks like uncle waldo from disneys aristocats wiv his hat nd facial expression?

  • Man I wish I was good at somthing so I could do this :)

  • If you practice all these exercises you are sure to become a great improviser and great player!

  • Now image him fingering his GF's Vagina....

  • cool video. wish i could play like that!

  • Lol fingering

  • +1 if you knew that he gave lessons to kirk hammet

  • is his hat inside out :)

  • i dont really like him

  • Good tips--but to play like him takes decades of practice

  • Im Joe Satriani and I wear a silly hat.

  • Beware not to do the pinky-retracting-4-nothing-thing as Joe does in figure 8. Things like this really limit your playing. Its hard to get rid of also, I can know. Moving little as possible looks less impressive but leads to faster more accurate playing!

  • i love your hair joe :)

  • короче зубрите гаммы до дыр на разных темпах и будет вам счастье!)))

  • how old is he how could he be steve vai's teacher?

  • @MatKiller1197 He's 55, a few years older than Vai so it's possible

  • what a great teacher

  • FINGER STRENGHT IS VERY IMPORTANT...GUITAR THEORIES ARE FOR YOU TO LEARN.. LOL.... PICK UP UR GUITAR AND PRACTISE..!!!!!

  • I'm Joe Satriani and I'm gonna show U 10 TITS

  • "do something like this." *FJLKJFJFJFJEOIJOIDJVLKDJFOIJLKDJCEJFOIEJLKDJEOIJFOICJLKDJFEIJFOIDJFLKEJFJCOIJFOIEFJOIj* (my testicles explode) "just to build up your strength"

  • -Just to build up your strength... *melts my face*

  • He's Professor.

  • 0:44 hahaha

  • Joe taught Stevei Vai how to play!!

  • baldo

  • this is such a good guide, but if you can only play like 2 or 3 chords it seems hard to do

  • Voldermort?

  • And so free! Hey, try everything! It's wonderful.

  • Joe's so practical.

  • hes not the best shredder but is totally one of the best guitar-theory wise player...

  • what scale is that at 6:10 ?

  • @myroad2thezion just a e maj dude:P

  • hey don't tell me how to title a post! (jk)

  • 10 ways to be a kick ass guitarist - from lord voldemort.

    better title i think.

  • "I'm not really warmed up right now"... Dude, you must be kidding me.

  • volume and distortion does not make one a better player, very dissapointed with this video.

  • @themanfromwem I don't remember hearing that in this video.. this seems more of a way for beginners to get on the right track to being a good guitarist... warmups and strength builders

  • shhhiiiittt...this is soo much like homeowork..but ill do it for joe.

  • His guitare is so beautifull!

  • Man, Ben Stiller is a pretty good guitar player!

  • Them licks are smooth as butta'!!!!!!!

  • Hail lord voldemort.

  • Is he playing in a freezer or Edmonton?

  • @shatnershairpiece he'splaying an Ibanez. He's been with Ibanez for over 20 years. That's his JS10th anniversary model that Ibanez made to celebrate their 10th anniversary partnership with Joe. It's basically a replica of his Chrome Boy which he played in the 90s. Unfortunately, the original was stolen.

  • real 10 tips are: PRACTICE - FROM 1 TO 10. ALL you need is practice..

  • lolz

I covered summer song with joe's approval (kinda his lawyers said it was ok) soundcloud | kronis

  • lolz

  • 1 person is a fuckin' stupid

  • The one who dislike is an completly idiot!!

  • just ONE alien is not sufring with satch!!!!

  • 3:06 "im not really warmed up right now"

YET HE JUST PLAYED THAT THING AT 0:05

  • @zomgitzakitteh Look at what he is wearing? How can he not be warmed up?

  • im a kickass guitarist now =)

  • Voldemort can play the guitar?

  • How long do you do it for? A few minutes?

  • Are you Human?

  • how the heck do you stretch across the first 6 frets...?

  • @DeBuraInc01 look at your hand infront of you, then look at the gap between your index and little finger,

try to make this gap as big as possible, it means bending your little finger forward and your index back slightly, then you should be able to make the gap really big, and most people even with stubby fingers can stretch really far.hope this helps if you were looking for help

  • lol his left hand in figure 4 looks like an octopus

  • @StOaK50V3R316N Actually this is called a spider exercise so pretty close.

  • That 'figure 8' was my key to fast guitar playing:) Great exercise building precision and coordination:)

  • for me, stop all physical activity including going to the gym, cycling and spend that time the downside ill get outta shape but something if i wanna get a little good at guitar :( from the way i see it many serious just play guitar they dont do any physical activity i mean how "ripped" guitar players do u see out there hardly any right cuz they have no time for the gym

  • @leonoff89 nuno bettencourt is a great example for a guitar player with shape lol

  • @HandreyAlex true that and mark tremonti perhaps my favorite guitarist and evh

  • for me, stop all physical activity including going to the gym, cycling and spend that time the downside ill get outta shape but something if i wanna get a little good at guitar :(

  • that diminished chord warm-up thing would be the coolest intro ever.

  • Thank you so much joe!!!!!

  • God, he makes bending a note up a whole step without ANYTHING to back it sound so cool!

  • 2 questions..

    1. What video is this from?

    2. Is there a booklet with it that shows the figures?

  • i dont get figure 8 lol

  • I've talked to people who listen to this guy and they say every time they hear him they want to just go out, sell their guitar and give it all up. But Joe makes me want to pick up my guitar and learn from him! Props to the Satch... You are a legendary musician and teacher!

  • Man, it's a drag when people talk when I'm doing a video. I guess that's why I took notice at 5:35 or so when some guy way behind the camera made noise. Great video though, excellent exercises. This guy raised the bar years ago, back when Rhoads was still around, right?

  • THE KEY IS IN THE HAT !!!

  • Only joe satriani, Steve vai, john petrucci , eric johnson, and joe bonamassa have the right to brag about they're guitar skills!!!! THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

  • @metallica4ever2010 No thumbs up, lol

  • He was doin all the notes in the e major scale as far as I know
