  • Haha "I lost a week." Didn't hit me till now that Jimmy Carr IS Quagmire.

  • Huh. I'd always misunderstood the quotation "let them eat cake". I always thought it was sort of like "let the peasants enjoy the same luxuries as the nobles". That's what you get for first hearing something when you were 9 and never bothering to look it up since then.

  • What an amazing opening statement by Stephen in tis clip. Totally unrehearsed, and just simply.... knowledge.

  • @Quite1nteresting i your season f playlist it doesn't have all the xls in order

  • @idiatico The XL in single files were added after the season finished. So the playlist has all the episodes in order, be they regular or XL mixed together, and then the added XL that was obtained at a later date. Otherwise the playlist would have a short episode, and then immediately replay the long.

  • "I lost a week Stephen" - almost fell from my chair.

  • these are the best guests

  • @FraserScarlett I much prefer Jupitus or Dara over Rich Hall, myself.

  • @tehpwnerofn00bs i prefer dara of the three of them

  • I'm so insanely in love with David Mitchell. He's so witty and intelligent without being a snob. <3

  • David isi great!

  • Rich Hall's wearing a Late Night with Conan O'Brien shirt.

  • Ooh that French woman...Dawn French XD

  • David Mitchell and Jimmy Carr on QI? No wonder this is one of my favourite episodes. :)

  • Poor Jimmy. "Gentleman's Special Interest Literature" is really quite creative and yet "P0RN" still pops up in the back.

  • I always do love how everyone gets a big a applause no mater what the score or whoever loses. Good showmanship and such. Though really, the scores never have mattered anyway. It's all good fun. :D

  • It's really hard to watch Jonathan Creek after watching QI extensively first. I just can't take him seriously...

  • So that song from Avenue Q was wrong.

  • "Gentlemans Special Interest liturature"

New name for porn across the globe? I think so!

  • Specialists collection, screen shows PORN XD

  • I love how Rich always has this look on his face when stephen reads his score like "how the hell did they come to that number? these are totally arbetrary."

  • Rich Hall is wearing a Conan O'Brien shirt!!!

  • I would love for them to do a show with David Mitchell, Rory McGrath, Ben Miller, and of course everyones favorite PhD...

    It's ALAN DAVIES!

The sheer mutual nerd wanking among Stephen Fry and the 3 contestants...the observations by Alan alone would make it the best episode ever.

  • I have never found the scores more meaningful and representative than in this episode.

  • I just noticed Rich is Team Coco. <3

  • They haven't got any bread. Let them eat cake. They haven't got any cake either. Oh, I understand this is a problem.

  • It annoys me that the cake thing isn't true, because it would have made sense in a strange way. Marie Antoinette was Austrian, and Austria is a mountainous country with a lot of dairy farming, but not much grain production. So when times are tough, people actually do bake cakes - they stretch the flour they need to buy by adding stuff they produce themselves: eggs, milk, butter, whipped cream, fruit...

  • @stefanmuc2k Interesting point but if peasants had all that rich food they would have sold it in hard economic times to the wealthy because they were so poor instead of eating it themselves. :) Can't you picture them wiping the whipped cream off their fat faces while being evicted for not paying rent? :)

Like "I am not amused," "let them eat cake" is too pat. Real quotes are rambling. This sounds more like a catchphrase created by a pamphlet writer to show the uselessness of the elite.

  • @cywyhot

That's not exactly true though, peasants couldn't have sold anything to the wealthy lords, because the lords would have just taken it from them.

  • I lost a week - haha

  • Thanks for uploading, good episode (but Marie Antoinette was a great film).

  • Wait, when did Rich get a forfeit?

  • @IoEstasCedonta NEVER ever start wondering about how the points come about :D

  • @IoEstasCedonta Even in these extended episodes, they still cut out some bits. Hence the reason that the final scores never seem to tally with the answers given. But, as paddyc00 says, to worry about the score is to kind of miss the point!

  • @baileysan75 indeed :p i think if they would suddenly stop reading out the score at the end there will be some people who don't even notice it :D

  • best QI episode EVER!

  • I am quite sad that my daily ventures through QI Land is over. Now I have to wait weeks to watch it . Oh well, time for " Would I lie to You" then

  • people actually give a shit about the score? that's the point gone well over your head...

  • when this was finished i spent a minute looking for my remote to change the channel '~'

  • Ha, Rich is wearing a Conan O'Brien shirt.

  • THANK YOU! Marie Antoinette was indeed a SHIT film. Worst movie I've ever seen.

  • Respectfully disagree. An above average film.

  • The lower the average score, the better the episode.

  • Plus you have to remember that the show is a lot longer irl than you see here/on the tv. So bits they cut out in the end might count towards final score somehow.

  • This was a great episode Thank-you

  • please can somone tell me how they work out the scores?????????????????

  • Hahah, it's however the fuck Stephen wants to. He gives like -20 to an incorrect boring answer and then +10 for a right but not interesting answer and then random points for being awesome. That's how it works in my brain anyways =)

  • I do believe you are fairly close. However, I recall an episode where Alan Davies would have been victorious, had he not uttered the words "Randy Ghandi", which carried a forfiet of 100 points (i think?). The forfeits are (as I have empirically noted) are relative; the more obvious the answer, the greater the forfeit. where-as a correct answer receives a benefit of +5 or in some cases +10. I may be wrong..but I don't care...I love this freakin show!!!

  • isn't it -10 for a wrong flashing answer

  • @CeeEm18 stephen dosn't give the scores, theres a scoring system

  • Apparently they hire a guy to sit in the studio and work them out, and no-one else knows how he does it.

  • Fastidious.

  • ....adjective: a girl that is fast and hideous. teehee!

  • The interplay between these lovely men makes me so happy.

I'd love to bring David Mitchell home, argue with him and then make him blush.

    Thanks for the upload.
