the pilot or pony motor,i shudder at the thought mate,but the ones we used to start dozers had rope pull pilot motors,we had to manualy wind the rope around the start pully then wen thats screaming its head off u engage 1 lever then another to start main engine,used to scare the crap outa me i tells ya(i was 15)am now 42 an have learnt to call for a fitter on ch 8.hehehe,but good on ya digger,well done,yes u shut the pony motor off, glad u wernt looking for the hydralic pump lol

yes thanks for sharing,what a work horse they were ,ahead of their time,the operator is walking around machine after start up to check for faults,RUN MATE RUN!!! TO THE NEAREST 16G THEN COMADEAR IT,NEVER LOOK BACK AT THE 12 OR ULE TURN TO SALT,then u can wear big boy pants like me,hehehehehe
