  • She was stepping on them and like .......what...move I'm on a mission

  • Hello we have just had 14 button quail hatch under our broody hen. Your chicks are really cute and about the same age as mine but just worked about mum bringing up all 14 alone

  • Is that where they all live or do you have a larger outdoors space? or what kind of habitat do they have. It seems the mom doesn't want to be in that tiny cage.

  • did they incubate their own eggs out side?

  • lol the whole video shows how the mother steps on the baby

  • very busy mom

  • I have a male button quail, he lives in a 20L fish tank by himself, i noticed that he has lost a few feathers? what's causing this? he only eats gamebird food

  • CPS needs to make her go to parenting classes! Cute lil stepped on babies

  • Can i just buy some eggs and breed the hell out of them?

I dont have much space, but i feel like mass breeding them.

Then i'll let them go all over town, and the forest.

I want the world to be filled with these quail

  • STOP RUNNING OVER DAS BABIEZZZ!!!!!

  • she's not a good mom she steps on her chicks!!!! XD she wants to show off

  • quails are adorable!! but she kinda squashed one towards the end...

  • The mum wuz just running all ova them lol cute:)

  • omg they are sooooooooo tiny. I mean unless you really know how small the momma bird is its hard to know how tiny those wittle babies are lol

  • @missred871 They are minature, its hard steppin in the aviary, u ave to keep ur eyes open :) There about 2cm when there hatched!!

  • @crowsruleportsuck so itty bitty I cant wait to hatch some out! UGH SO AWESOME! lol I am a little over excited I have some bobwhites at day 17 right now so i am awaiting hatches any day now. Also I have about 30 or so bantam eggs on the hatch as well I think I have one or two button tucked in there somewhere as well I wonder if you know how good buttons are at being broody?

  • LOL the mother just walks over the little chicks.

  • We had some but our neighbors cat!!!! killed them :(. we want some more but we cant find any except the pet store but very expensive

  • yes they can fly. i accidently let go of my quail and he flew straight across my pool. he was exhausted so it was pretty easy to catch him.

  • Of course, quails can fly and they are capable of rapis bursts of flight.

You can distinguish between genders from their colour. The male has a dark red breast.

Males helps females in raising hatchlings but few many harm their own hatchlings.

  • Hello...

You have some really nice looking birds! Impressed with how healthy they look : )

Thanks for sharing. I have quite a few collection myself. Perhaps we can exchange ideas ; )

  • Mom's just stepping all over the kids!

  • OH MY GOD CUTEST THING EVER! hey, im trying to find out the gender of my quails (they are a couple, but i dont know much about quails, dont know what kind they are, and dont know how to tell male from female) if anyone can help there is a vid of them in my profile

  • ey, tag this quail train, i tried searching it and nothing came up

  • my two male quails bob and steve are always fighting. steve is smaller so always has loads of feathers picked. i feed them seeds nuts and worms. the cage is props about 1m by 0.5m. they have one shelter. Why are they fighting so much and how can i tame them so that i can hold them?

  • that is how big button quail get? i thought they were the size of a baby chicken when theyre full grown!

  • Hi, my female just hatch chicks 3 so far, I have removed the male few days before should I put him back in there with them, First I hear take him out, then that he helps rear the chick also..CONFUSED

He keeps sing out to her even at night while being seperate.

    HELP HELP

  • can they fly? just wanted to know

  • youve removed them to early you should have left them until about 12 weeks ant the least.

  • omgggg there sooo funny looking! i wantt one <3333

  • I wouldn't know, never seen one

  • No dont worry, 5-6 weeks is ample time. Just make sure they are sepereated by the largest distance.

  • how can my quail nest the eggs ??? she never sit on them.

  • Make sure that she has a nice warm, place to lay her eggss which is out of the weather. I use a Tee-Pee.

  • Thats actaully very good for you that the father keeps them warm. Mine does to but i have ahad others previoulsy which masacre the babies and kill them.

  • hi are your quails laying eggs or is it still to cold thanks :) nice vid

  • Yeah they normally lay all year round. My female will lay about 10 eggs at a time, then after bout 14 days they hatch, then after the chiks are about 2 or 3 wks old she begins to lay another clutch of eggs

  • oh i have 6 and non of them are laying :(

  • Well first thing to do to encourage is to seperate a pair and place them in a different cage. This will help stimulate breeding, too many wuails will cause fights and no breeding. Also place dirtin the cage and cut up straw. they also may like to hide so make sure yu place somethin they can get under like a log or a few brances covered with leaves. keep me posted on how it goes,

  • ok thanks i have seen my female mate with the male is that normal ? the female got fully on the male like a male dose ?

  • my quail just layed 8 eggs this morning, she's sitting on then and the male is about 10 cm away from the nest protecting it from the other pair of quail, my aviary is 10 ft long, 5 ft wide, 4 ft of it is enclosed shed area and the other 6ft is flight, its 6ft high and i have 9 pairs of budgerigar's in the cage, will the quail still hatch? cause i think they went overnight without the mother sitting on them,

and if so, will the budgies be a pest when the baby's hatch?....Please respond XD

  • She has to keep the eggs warm> but dont be to woried if u reckon she didnt sit on them all nite, she probably did just you didnt see. I would recommend removing the other pair just in case they fight. Budgies are fine. I have some in my cage to but they are actually frighten of the babies cause the babies try and get under them. It should take 14-17 days to hatch.

  • ohk cool, she's sitting on them 24/7 now except when she go's for a feed, the other pair of quail dont seem to be much of a problem now, cause where she layed the eggs, its in the corner of the flight area part packed in with some grass and straw, and what my aviary is built out of is C section so she's made in the nest in the little ancoves, and during the night she sleeps on her eggs and the other 3 go in the shed part and snuggle up, so i guess theirs no problem with them now?

  • Thats good to hear, make sure you keep giving here some supply of greens to. My quail had hers hatch three days ago. Keep an eye out 13- 15 days from now, because some males will kill other babies. If the males are disturbing her and the babies, take mum and the babies out of the cage in a small seperate area. Also when the babies do hatch provide a very shallow dish for water. E.g. lid of container. Let me know how it goes

  • A friend of mine told her little sister that's where they get popcorn chicken - hehe!

    I joke - they're so cute.

  • Is the mother quail running over the top of the chicks?

  • no she is just keeping an eye out for trouble.

  • yes she so is!

  • hey, im looking into getting a few of those and i was wonderng how hard the are to care for? and i read that the roosters crow? is that true? if so how loud is it and what does it sound like? thank you

  • they do crow but only rarely when in a mating mood

  • I have button quails, button quail eggs, adult quails, reagular quail eggs, chicken eggs, chickens, and three incubators that were all bought off ebay. I do not let them incubate their own eggs. i have read online that all nirds, except for big brids like chickens, cannot incubate their own eggs simply beacause they are not large enough for mulitple eggs to sit on. Also, I was wondering if you own a hatching farm?? If you do, do you hatch cickens and/or sell eggs??

  • Well i Dont know where u got that info from because this brood has been naturally hatched by the cinammon coloured quail in the video. I never hatch them in incubator

  • Cool i have 2 female xl quails and a male.

  • of course all birds are able to sit on their own eggs. they would not have evolved otherwise

  • i have buttons and i've been trying without success to make them incubate their own eggs...

is there anything special you did to make this hen incubate her own eggs?

  • Hey its great to hear u ave them. I have never hand reared or incubated any of their eggs. The most important step to natural hatching is their laying environment. I use a small upturned cone shaped hanging pot, turning it into a tee-pee. They love to hide in this and feel safe. If the mother lays an egg leave it alone she wont sit on them until she has laid them all. Provide straw and let nature take its course. They sit on them for aprox. 14 days. Ask if you need

  • If you need me to i can take a video of my set-up??

  • yeah video of your setup would be great

  • Do they hatch with parents or do you need an incubator.?

  • button parents dont usually brood eggs unless a certain enviornment is provided

  • i try to create it as natural as possible plenty of places to hide.

  • With their parents, its all natural.

  • We've hatched some naturally. My girlfriend places alot of hay and the female,Sinbad, will start to form an indentation in the hay where she places the eggs. Sinbad hatched two broods in this fashion and she looks so cute when she sits...like a pile of feathers with two eyes and a beak glued on.

  • that is a large brood...did some of the chicks develop white plumage?

  • no as the father is natural blue and mother a cinnamon these where the only colours, out of the 11 2 were female. Saying that my last brood had a white plumage. Must of been a genetic throw back

  • wow. how do u breed them

  • Well ur local bird shop should have them, sometimes called King Quails. i then use brush fencing to create a tee-pee. Give them time and the mother will hatch them after about 16 days. I usually take the father out before they hatch

  • using a tee-pee
