Where's everyone comparing the Anita Blake Novels to Twilight. they are two very different points of views and are VERY different towards each other, Even if there are some similarites.I don't think people should start comparing books to books, Why can't we just enjoy these books on their own and quite comparing.
Although. i Do prefer Anita Blake to Twilight Sagas any day. More action!
i mean just slap in alot of sex,and police work,and overly sensitive and/or traumitzed vampires,and BOOM u got the anita blake series lol.Don't get me wrong i think Laurell Hamilton is an great writer,but it's like she just made an adult version of twilight.
One thing i don't like about laurell k hamilton's work is,that she kinda lacks originality. I mean i read two of her series and there wasn't much of an difference between them,.they both had an female as the main character,and they both seemed too be living in an house full of overly handsome men,and they both seemed too be addicted too caffiene products.i mean c'mon it's getting too the point where there's like 4 sex scenes in the duration of two chapters.
Okay you all are comparing a Young Adult series (twilight) with an Adult series (Anita) .. First of all stop shooting down Twilight it is a good series for YOUNG ADULTS... DUH! Secondly, you can't compare the two just because they are about vampires. You want to compare vampire series, how about Laurells work against Anne Rice. There compare those two. They are in the same bracket Adult vs. Adult not Adult vs. Young Adult.
@vikingmage13 no actually twilight is just a glorified fan-fiction... it is really not a good piece of writing... or maybe my view is just skewed because of all the damn rabid twilight fan-girls... aqhh well
I just discovered this gem yesterday. Reading guilty pleasures halfway now, I'm so happy I found another awesome vampire series besides Anne Rice & Brian Lumley, I'd almost given up on the vampire genre after Twilight came out with the sparkly crap.
I Just read the graphic novel Guilty Pleasures. I haven't read the actual book yet but I am looking forward to it. Guilty Pleasures was really hard for me to follow, so I think I should have read the book first. Great art though.
Its different, and sookie stackhouse is a tv show {trublood} and twilight is movie{s} so they prolly couldn't put it into a comic{though i heard they did that it twilight??}
That'd be my guess {sorry, nvr heard of the other 2}
EXACTLY! i guess they were going to, but laurel k hamilton didn't like something about what they were doing, so i guess its not going to happen :'( my opinion, they can make twilight movies..but not anita blake? r-tards much? :D lol
Laurell's Anita Blake books are amazing reads...her inventitive mind is out of this world..her characters are spot on and Anita with her morals always put to the test is great reading...her Meridith Gentry series is great also...just finished Flirt(Anita Blake series) and it was great as usual even though it was kinda short...
this chick can't write.. I mistakenly read one piece of crap novel in this series and I couldn't make it halfway through the novel..... the action was boring.. the interaction between characters...boring... the whole novel sucked from beginning to end..... I must admit though the monster were unique... not enough to keep me interested though...
Laurell is just as smart and saavy and confident as her enigmatic character. i see alot of her in Anita. i can tell my handshake and steely eyed glare would pale in comparison to hers.lol
i love her. i read the entire series over the summer it was awesome and pretty out there but still good i love how she rites its vivid but i cant see it being written any other way
Im hoping that once Laurell K. Hamilton finishes writing her series on those fey characters tht she'll get bak into Anita Blake. i REALLY want to know whether Marmee Noir, Anita call her "Mommy Dearest", or Belle Morte come to party again. i mean, Jean Claude has 3 marks her in the Killing Dance, Marmee Noir got 2 marks on her in Blood Noir, and Belle Morte got 2 on her in Cerelean Sins. i want to know if Belle decides to kidnap Anita and bring her to Europe for the 3rd mark, or sumthing
Oh, I thought Blood Noir came out like a while ago. Anyway, I've finished reading Blood Noir a long time ago, and so I found a rumor that once Laurell K. Hamilton finishes her current series, she's going to start up Anita Blake again. I hope so. ^.^
Yeah, I'm dying for Skin Trade. T.T I just haven't gone back to book store, but I will be in November XD Anyway, question, is Skin Trade like the books before Narcissus in Chains before all of the sexual stuff started happening, like when she would be like Sherlock XD? I loved those days, specially with Zerbrowski
The sex is here to stay (due to her being a living vampire and her need to feed on it) but it takes a backseat to the detectiving and bloody battles, thought she is still collecting men.
The story is now moving forward and it gets very intersenting in Skin Trade with both "Mommy Dearest" and Belle Morte. Plus the past of a vampire we haven't seen since Circus of the Damned is finally revealed.
Oh, well, I can understand how the sex parts have to stay, but I'm glad that there isn't so much of it. XD But I'm excited for the battles and detective work. Man, getting jumped by BOTH Marmee Noir AND Belle Morte? Anita just can't grab a break. XD
I quite enjoy reading the Anita Blake series, even though the last few books have been a little too much "Anita Blake: Vampire Humper". Though the sexuality is still in there, both "The Harlequin" and "Blood Noir" seem to be starting to get away from that.
Although people are entitled to their opinions, her books are quite entertaining. It is a good idea to present a visual to all of that "dialog" in the books. What I think would be fun is a movie.
I'm curious about the prequel...that's it though...i don't like the books. the only element i ever liked was a short story about anita blake in the Bite short story collection...the full books drag too long
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Laurel K. Hamilton is a hack who writes books about how she wishes she was. She's only as imaginative as her sexual fantasies take her, and her writing skill is mediocre at best. The comic will be no better.
I'm going to read the first issue, but I'm going to pirate it. Hopefully, anyone else who has half a brain will do the same, but I expect the hordes of mall goths who flock to her cultural toxin will keep her afloat a while longer.

I'm such a huge fan I loved this whole series and I hope it never ends or might heart might break :)

Anita Blake is even cooler than Buffy. And Jean Claude would own Angel. 8D
A show of it would top True Blood. How did Twilight get to be so popular but not this? When they make the movie... it better be in theaters. P:
