@hmarangi Souza is spanish, but Fontes is a common portuguese surname :) there're lots of them.

Glad Bourdain finally visited the AZORES. I was born on S. Miguel island, but live in the US. The islands have lots of natural beauty. I encourage travelers to visit.

Hey Tony,

I spent 15 months stationed on Terceira island from 1979. My wife never understood why me & my old Navy friends wax poetic about the Azores. After viewing your film, she now get's a hint of the impression this beautiful paradise can make on a young man.

Thank you much for your well received videos (and great memory joggers).

PS: Nothing beats that Azorian cabbage soup (or the octopus stew washed down with cerveja, or the cheese, or the bad espresso w/anise, or the....)

Yes, it was a tough time. It was also weird. We were in the nco club enjoying a few poorboys when it hit. All of a sudden waves come over us on the inside and everything started dancing on the outside. I thought I had eaten a bad piece of bread for a few seconds there... spooky.
