  • @petpet691821 This video is from DrumLessons(dot)com, thats why it says Drum Lessons APART from the main title saying Rock Drum PLAY-ALONG #3

  • i cant get bored specially of his vids! ;) nice i love it 2 death

  • Oooh finally damon dicide to switch careers to be a drummer... ; / wtg XD

  • I have never seen the hi hat set the way this one is.

  • @DwayneBazinetJr0614 what is so different about the hi hat set up??? looks pretty bog standard to me

  • @BuckyCap It just looks different than i have mine set up. the cymbals are really high up on the rod. I guess some people just like their shit set up a certain way. Not dogging it, just saying.

  • thats exactly my most liked drum sound :)... that loud and cracking snare, these deep and voluminous toms, and of course these bright and cutting cymbals! great! :)

  • nice jamming dude

  • great drumming man

  • nice cymbals ;)

  • Look its the Bourne Drummer. haha

  • Hey you say it's no difficult . If it true , you do it 2.55

  • @BrothersTV1 I'm pretty sure he has a double bass peddle. He's alternating btwn two hits on snare or tom and two hits on the kick. It sounds really fancy, but it just takes a little practice. A similar effect can be accomplished with a single pedal using triplets.

  • Is possible download this song without drums somewhere? Thanks for response to my messages.

  • i dont like the way the cymbals sound.

  • ang ganda tlaga ng tunog ng drums........

    pero mukhang madali lng yan>>

  • plz.. what drum set is this?

  • I just love this song... My wish is that I can play it on drums one day, just like you did (:

  • Whaere r u guys getiing theseguitar tracks and vocal tracks from...which band is this

  • @FromTheAshesWeRiot

The bad is called "Sterr" and Dean Reimer is the drummer for the band, so for him it's an original piece.

  • @TheKickasspartan Dude, I'm drunk whild watching this and I can't get enouhg of this fucking guy!!! He's fuckign bomb duuuude!

  • When i well become like this?

  • @abdeno100 no one can say when you become like this becouse no one on the internet have heard how you play I becamed like that in one and a half year if you are talented you can do it in this time or less but to most pepole it comes never becouse they say that its to dificult and they won't play again.... keep up practice and everithing can happen! [sorry for bad english ;-) ] Bienkoface94

  • i would sure use drum tab (not notation its more difficult to understand the beat from it) to get every fill right takes a lot of time to learn it "by ear"

  • Your floor toms are dope as shit can you send me a message on how to get em to sound like that? also the symbols and badd drum and stuff

  • @godfadda13 get a good kit and a good capture devices (mics). You´ll need a quite amount of money.

  • You Got Mad Skillz

  • 2:50...YEAHHHHH BOYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Arrrrgh i cant stand this dude..... ARRRGGGGH Lilquest... pocket acesarrggggghh

  • the toms are sonor . but the snare i don't know

  • Comment removed

  • @XD13011 The toms aren't sonor. The entire drum kit is yamaha, including snares. From what I can tell Schroeder is playing a yamaha copper snare in this video.

  • isn't it a sonor? the snare, isn't a sonor . but.. the tom ? I think that right (i'm french sorry for my language)

  • isn't it a sonor? the snare, isn't a sonor . but.. the tom ? I think that right (i'm french sorry for my language)

  • How do you make the toms sound so good

  • @MFGProductions if ther tuned correctly, miced, eq'ed, and gated they sound just like thses.. but that costs money and time

  • @MFGProductions good hardware and mics

  • this guy's awesome,,,,,such sharp and powerful wrists,,,,,,,,,,,loved it !!!!

  • what brand is the drum set?

  • @bboysnake82 i think its a yamaha somerthing since the hardware is yamaha

  • dude your fucking awesome, im a bassist but im coming on on drums so thanks for the inspiration- you think you could do some lessons on covers?

  • i want that drumset so bad man. it nice

  • Why can't i download the drum-less track? =( If i click on the "mp3" Button it just starts the track but i can't download it. Someone can help me?

  • Comment removed

  • sterr is the best

  • I'm 90% sure they are Coated G2's, that's what Jared said he uses in the drum tuning live lesson, so I'd assume they are the same when Schroeder plays that kit.

  • regarding the fill at 2:55, i can't find where to insert the left foot into the mix. can u help me understand? Love what u guys do there, lookin forward to more... keep rockin!!!

  • @1MRBUGG in case u still havent figured it out yet:

    LF: left foot

    RF: Right foot

    LH: left hand

    RH: right hand

im pretty sure its just a RH-LH-RF-LF pattern, its pretty easy.

  • G1,G2?

  • how do you tune the toms? (how high, muffling etc.)

  • this man is great!!!

  • @264Gunners Thats very normal everyone does it the way i stopped doing it is i learnt plug in baby by muse. It takes a bit of time tho

  • what drum heads are those?

    G1, G2, G Plus?

  • man that is fucking awesome good job

  • fantastic fill starting at 3:20! awesome tasteful syncopation!

  • awesome song, bloody sweet cover! all round wicked!

  • Dean, ive always wondering but have been experimenting but my tastes still come back to that snare..what is it? You played/ play yamaha don't you?

    Cheers, Andy

  • lol thats easy >:P

  • This song is so well-written! Love it, the drumfills and beats are amazingly simple in a good way =)

  • holy shittttttt

  • Dude, how old are you? This is epic.

  • they should do more recent versions of these songs

  • reamer GALINGMO

  • whats the song's name?

  • wow hus the band n song???

  • @ctity7 Sterr - Still waiting

  • says on the decription

  • dean this rulez. is there away of getting a click track for this song ?

  • Off the top if my head, I can recall what the BPM is at. But you can download Audacity (freeware) and sync up a click. It's a really easy program to use too.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • man it's cool but i would rather do this and add straight 16th note fills before the chorus, and add some double bass definetely. but thats just me. otherwise, pretty cool man

  • That's cool. Yeah, we took a lot of meticulous attention in writing the songs so that no one in the band was really overplaying on top of someone else. If you have a chance, hit up free drum lessons and download the track without drums and post how you would have done the song.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • Hi Schroeder,

I am really stoked to start drumming! Ever since I discovered FDL, I got more and more excited to play. Now, I've finally decided to get a drum set.

However, since I stand in awe each time I see you play this set, I'm very curious to know from which parts it is comprised. Do you know, and if so, could you please also list the price of each piece (or the set as a whole).

Lastly, as a beginner, do you think I need such a sophisticated drum kit?

    Thanks in advance :)

  • Well, I don't think you need a kit like this. (After all the drums/hardware/cymbals you're looking at over $8000) I would say get into an offshore made maple or birch kit. Sonor 2007/3007 - Yamaha Stage or Tour Custom. That kind of idea. Then add your cymbals and maybe a few extras and you'll probably be somewhere between $1500-$2500 depending on the accessories. You can get cheaper kits too. The best kit for under $1000 would be a pearl forum. Let me know if you have more ???s.

    Cheers,

    -S

  • Hi dude i got my first set A good beginner set would consist of Hi hat,Bass drum,2 crashes 14' and 16' doesn't matter though a ride cymbal snare Hi tom mid tom floor tom.that's what my set has and that's all I need it can get intimidating and confusing playing on a huge set.I got mine from a family member for 200 but it's worth a lot more it's a pearl.

  • I like the beat to those toms.

  • great ride tom flor sound =]

  • what is the song?

  • Still Waiting

  • Nah I'm sure it is dude. It's just accented really well.

Maybe I'm counting the bar twice as fast as you so they would be 32nds.

  • @keyetax - They're 16ths. The song (if I remember correctly) is at about 100bpm so if you're breaking the subdivisions down, I'm playing 16ths. Good eye daxwax1.

    -Schroeder

  • thaKUMAGGS i know that but i am saying that he would get 1st place

  • cymbals are amazing.

  • play good songs that are by different bands!

  • !!!! Fill @ 1:19... WAAAY over my head! What are you doing man!?!

  • It's not difficult, just quick. Just 16ths on the snare then down the toms.

    (snare) R L R L R L R L

    (tom)R L R L

    (floor tom) R L R L

  • I can understand why you might think that... but those are definitely not 16ths mate. The last lot over the toms sound like 32nds... but the strokes on the snare sound more like 32nd triplets... I don't know??? Count them out... insane fill!

  • @daxwax1

    It's also need to practice!!

  • @daxwax1 16th? not 32th?:D it looks faster than 16th:D

  • @daxwax1 and some 32 notes on the snare :)

  • fahimcam1 ur thinking small............he doesnt need a talent show to be famous!

  • if he was on a talent show i am sure that he would come in 1st place

  • Comment removed

  • he rocks

  • you're awesome ^^

nice playing dude, i like your style during playing :)

    keep on rocking!!! :)

  • NICE DUDE . . been playing drums for about 3 months now in a band called Hedway. . we got a couple vids on here check us out if you want. . but MAN YOU ARE GOOD thats the exact style i want to have

  • Cool. Thanks dude. I'll definitely check out your vids.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • Really cool!

  • That is just bad ass!

  • i hope i ever can be that good :)

  • Fucking Rock dude! Good shit

  • You are so good at drums! xD i have been playing drums for about 4 years now and this is exactly what i want to be able to play. All that i have is a really standard drumset so i only have the 14'' hi-hat, the snare drum, the bass drum, the two tom toms, the floor tom-tom, and an 18'' crash/ride cymbal. I am hoping to get more on my drumset so i can start playing more "involved songs".

  • Wicked dude. Glad that all this material is helping you out.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • nice drumming, just too it up.

btw i downloaded sterr's album and i must say i like it!

  • how long have you been playing? i suck and need help!!!!!!

  • I've been playing for about 15 years. What do you need help with?

    -Schroeder

  • Dean, do you find that your right and left hands are equal? Do you ever play with left hand leading?

  • Yeah, I do lead with my left hand. It's getting there, but I can't do everything on either side yet.

    -S

  • One thing I'm working on is getting all 40 rudiments comfortable on either side. You should try it.

  • I'm really not a technical rudiments kinda guy. I'm far more concerned with groove. But I am working through Benny Greb's DVD that came out early this year. It uses a system that cover a lot of the basic rudiments, but in a way that takes it at a musicality point of view.

    -S

  • not so much a good drum lesson but exelant drumming man!

  • why tf do these drums sound this good??

is it tuning, recording or just because its hq?

  • All of the above. Everything contributes to how a kit sounds when recorded. The drums themselves, the mics, skins, tuning, compressors, gates, EQ, the engineer and even how the drummer plays can have a big effect on the final product.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • how long have you been playing drums?

  • I've been playing drums for about 15 years or so.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • nice

  • IVAN DRAGO

  • those toms are sooooooo beautifully clean

    sound wise

  • Whats the name of the drums next to hes right leg? theres 2 of them.

I want to learn drumming, but I aint too sure what beginner Drum Kit to go for any help please? nothing too expensive please £300 maximum for a beginner please.

  • they're called tilt-kegs, and they are very expensive.. sometimes over 2500 a piece.. most kits don't have them

  • They're called floor toms. Unfortunately Shogun777's comment isn't quite accurate. Typically, most kits will have 5 drums. Snare drum, two suspended toms ( 2 up), 1 floor tom (1 down) and a bass drum. Though with configurations evolving, there are lots of options now with 1up/1down, 1up/2down. With higher end kits you can really do what you want. I would check out your local music shop in London. I don't know how different the inexpensive gear is there. Let me know what you find.

    -Schroeder

  • Thanks for the more detailed part :-) So what is needed for a basic beginner set? I know I need, Snare, Base/Bass(what ever spelling), Hi-Hat, Crash.. What else?

  • Basic kit is as follows:

Bass drum, Snare, 2 or more toms

Hi-hats, Crash, Ride (sometimes optional 2nd crash or splash)

Hardware to match (Hi-hat stand, 2 cymbal stands, snare stand and bass drum pedal)

The thrones (seat) are usually separate from the kit so that way you can buy what you like or what you can afford. One of the easiest kits is the Pearl Forum. They come with everything you need to play. But there are cheaper alternatives.

    -Schroeder

  • I've found a cheap kit on Ebay. £50.00 Lol.

    It comes with;

    1x Bass Pedal and Drum

    2x Tom Toms

    1x Snare

    1x Floor Drum

Cymbals Marathon Brass M38 Cast Made in Germany

1x hi-grove hat "14 with stand and pedal

    1x Crash 20" with Stand

2x Drum brusehes and 1x seat

  • lol, but lets see how many people get trolled by it and RAGE @ my comment

  • Ur awesome Schroeder :]

  • theyre called floor toms, every begginer kit comes with one of them

  • there called floor toms

  • awesome song

  • Well played!

  • WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS SONG

  • READ the Info!!!

  • hey anyone wanna help me, im new enough at drumming that im lost, i ripped my bass drum head and does anyone know any good places that i can buy a replacement cheap, because Sam Ash costs too much for me

  • Unfortunately, good heads cost money. You can ask if they carry Remo Encore skins. They're factory second skins that remo sells. Some places carry them, some don't, but you can get a bass drum skin for $35 or so as opposed to $50 or $60.

  • When a listener hear sa tom fill, are they supposed to go left to right? Or right to, left. Naturaly as I see the video, the tom sounds on oposite sides of what I see. I mix music and assume that they should go form left to right. Because it aides the listener. And tips?

  • whAT SONG?

  • excellent man youre really gooooodddd

  • Thanks man.

    -Schroeder

  • Clean..... love that hi hat swell and shut.... too sweet. You make this look way too easy. Nice job! Makes we want to practice even more.

  • hey man, i was wondering what mics you use in all of these videos?

  • I can't remember all of them. These videos are coming up on 2 years old. I know the Kick was a Shure beta 52, and the toms were Sennheiser 421's. The overheads look like they might be AKG 414's.... but I'm not sure. Shure SM 57 on the snare (top and bottom).

  • What I really love about you is how your drumming isnt ridiculously complex but compliments the song perfectly. I easily prefer this to someone wailing really fast.

    Great Job!! :)

  • Thanks man. I appreciate that.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • What cymbals do u use in this set ?

  • The cymbals I used were HHX 14" stage hats, 20" stage ride, 16/18" Evo crashes, 17/18" Stage crashes.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • The mark of an excellent drummer is... when i watch you it makes me want to go practice and be a better drummer.

  • great drumming.. dude you look like Jason Bourne L0L

  • haha

  • Matt Damon?

  • Great drumming once again, awesome mix as well. Really digging the hihat sound, sounds JUST right :)

You've really found the balance between song support and experiment. Many drummers have problems finding that balance. Great work!

  • Thanks a lot for all your feedback. I really appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • Are you playing the hihat completely open or just loose? I can't tell. Sounds great anyway

  • Well, it's a bit of both. I don't usually have the hats too far apart when they're fully open and I make sure that they can slosh a bit too.

  • WAT DOUBLES BASS PEDAL IS THAT LOL

  • Yamaha DFP 9415.

  • What tipe of drum is this??

  • duz any1 kno what sticks he uses in this vid?

  • I'm using Vic Firth Thomas Lang Signatures.

    Cheers,

    -Schroeder

  • thanks man! you are a great drummer--love your videos!
