@speedreadingclasses I've trained for 2 days now, and I already read 400-450 WPM. But I tend to fall back in the habit of saying every word (in my head(when I've read for a couple of minutes)), is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
493 words per minute. Think I could of finished the first article had it not been for the constant scrolling. I am double the average, yes I understood what I was reading.
I think that some commenters need to work on their arithmetic before they move on to speed reading.
I got 330 on a novel in French, 430 on an singing manual, and a slightly ridiculous 620 on the article on their website. I don't think I'm going to bother with the rest of the tutorial.
There is a fascinating YouTube video entitled "How to Activate Your Photographic Memory". You can go way beyond speed reading and recall everything you've read.
After watching all of these vids, i went for 250WPM to 500WPM. I think I can go up to 700 in an interesting book. WOW, i can't believe this actually helped me!
wow!!! 1460wpm...I guess I really don't need the speed reading thingy after all...I'm content...I think I have this thing now...wow...and to think I hated reading...I read a book (front to back) in its entirety well after high school...funny how books are like candy to me now...hehehehe
Try the Evelyn Wood speed reading program. It worked for me, just the book works. I went from 260 to 771 wpm in one week now I do avg 1500 or better a minute. The mind can be trained to perform better its just that our 'education' doesn't do it.
He says that the 'average' reading speed of 150-250 WPM is based on 1 minute of reading, meaning that they measure a 1 minute 'burst' rather than say, 1 random minute somewhere in a 10 minute reading stretch, or simply averaging over a longer reading period.
He asserts that the real average reading speed is probably slower over the long run. This seems backward to me - when told to read for exactly 1 minute, there's no context so you start with unfamiliar material - there's no flow.
I did it by sped reading and got 1150.
