still its a terrible place to put an airport, for the main reason as you take off your aircraft will have a low AGL which means you will have far less time for your EFARTO checks and not a lot of space to land if that did happen.

not sure what the other end of the air strip is like, a short hill with a larger one behind hard to say how dangerous is actually is.

The biggest problem I see with Honduras is the tricky approach. You gotta bring the aircraft around in a tight turn and descend at the same rate as the terrain. The pilot(s) gotta have nerves of titanium.

This is actually the second dangerous airport in the world. The most dangerous airport is undoubtedly the Lukla airport in Nepal. It is only 500 meters short and ends to a mountain. So pilot has only one chance, he has to succeed or die! There is no second chance to go around and come back for next try as there is in Honduras. Weather in Lukla is extremely fast changing because it is located around 3000 meters altitude in mountains. The high altude decreases the available engine power also.
