The comic is written by some dude who lives with his mom and has no idea who Dexter even is. Nice how people like to try to explain what the code is for, but unless you've read the book, I'm going to assume the source of you insider information is your imagination.

This makes a little false image of Dexter as he has no motivation to "do good", it is made perfectly clear in Dexter series.

Killing is his urge, a passion he must act out in order to feel alive. The code only exists to allow him survival and to justify his existence.

He never kills to do good, but he does do good in killing in order to justify that very need to kill, and in order to empower the code that helps him stay careful enough to not make mistakes.

Incorrect, if you watch the entire series you'll see him make choices to help those around him. His own internal monologue often supports this even.

But yes, killing is still his urge. But he does at times use this urge to do good purposefully. Two birds with one stone.

dexter kills soley because he is driven to kill by some need. he enjoys taking his victims lives. the 'code of harry' exists for 3 reasons. the first is it allowed harry to cope with the horrors of his son, the second is to give Dexter some sense of humanity and likeability, if he was like the ice truck killer the show would have been cancelled early on. the third is that if you kill only those who deserve to die, they are less likely to be missed or looked for, and you are less likely caught
