You pronounced it correctly! Ardi means sheep and gasna means cheese in basque, which is a language spoken in the Basque Country (that covers a part in the north of Spain and another part in the south of France). The most famous cheese there is IDIAZABAL, which is delicious! I was so surprised and happy to hear some basque words in your video!
The squash blossoms have a beautiful color. The batter removes that element from the presentation....Might you be able to do this dish (or a variation) without the batter, keeping the appearance of the flower as much as possible?
we do these at the restaurant i work in a similar way. baby courgettes with their flowers on, we take out the stems, do a slit and open the flower, and put some spanish goats cheese inside, battered and deep fried for ~40 seconds and then drizzle honey on top
I have been growing zucchini and making these since I was a kid. I'm really happy to see these become more and more popular, as they really are great.
@liarsclub75 yeah many people eat stuffed squash flowers. That being said things like tomatoes for sauce, bell peppers and squash, such a big part of italian cooking, actually originated in Mexico. In fact polenta even though it has been consumed since roman times, recently (300 yrs) incorporated corn into the recipe, which is a spin off of mexican Atolli, a corn gruel.
3:13 "Speaking of batter.." Thought he was going to make a spousal abuse joke.
Still not sure why the squash blossoms were really necessary. If you stuff something in cheese, cover it in batter then deep fry, it'll just taste like fried cheese.
This reminds me of the Summer I looked after a ladies garden for her. She complained about me up and down because the squash did not come that year. I found out she was sauteing the blossoms with her morning eggs.
FYI There are false blossoms that the squash put out that do not fruit. It takes a pretty good eye to tell them apart. These would be good to use.
Can I go into my neighbor's yard and steal their blossoms? They throw them out anyway. My neighbor doesn't know about this recipe. They just boil their squash.
@bilge4eva Haha I didnt say no one else does it moron. haha just because others do it, doesnt make it any less mexican. Yeah learn the history of squash and its flowers. The origins are in Mexico. Educate yourself and stop arguing haha
@carsiotto I'm not the one who started this argument? And I'm not nearly as interested enough to learn about squash and their flowers lol, and don't call me a Moron, There is no need for insults over this matter. It's just a flower...don't get all Mexican Patriotic on me.
@bilge4eva Haha you were the one that said it was a turkish thing. Who's getting ethnically patriotic? you or me? haha Many cultures use the flowers, yet you had no problem saying it is a turkish thing, and then deny it is a Mexican thing. Im just saying, where it originated. I bet you think tomatoes originated in italy huh?
@carsiotto lol you're so pathetic, it's so funny! Mexicans are famous for 3 things- Burritos, Easy women and border jumping. Don't get all patriotic over such a disgraceful country.
Sorry, I don't agree with that dude, but that comment really did hurt. First of all "burritohs" as you guys call it are not even Mexican, second of all our women have lots of pride, many of them served in many of our battles and revolution, and second, not all the people that cross the border are Mexican.
haha an american talking about easy woman and lack of culture? mexico is famous for culture and a lot of things. let me think what is USA famous for, uhm let me think... starting wars and burgers? oh damn the burgers are german. what an irony... :D PS: and no i am not mexican ;)
@carsiotto You're just ridiculous, You started the argument lol. I'm not the one who's responding to a comment I made about a month ago....And I was just simply stating we use them in our recipes. Calm downnnn, you're making it seem like EVERYTHING orginitated in Mexico. Just don't respond back lol, it's annoying to having to respond to someone who gets agrivated for the slightest reasons.
@bilge4eva Actually many foods originated in mexico including chocolate and vanilla haha. Even corn is a Mexican product. Dont get so bent out of shape, have a candy bar haha
@carsiotto A mexican can write in ENGLISH i'm so shocked. lol i read you dumb fuck, you're just so pathetic ahahaha, fuck off and stop jumping our borders.
@EmmaEmerald1 People like you make white people look so bad. I've known Mexicans who know English better than most Caucasians. Speaking of which, there should be a period after "ENGLISH," "i" should always be capitalized, there should be a comma after "read," "you're" should be capitalized, there should be a period after "pathetic," and the "f" should be capitalized in your profanity. If you're going to insult a race's ability to write, learn the language first yourself.
omg i just subbed today and i cant stop watching your videos.i try to close the tap and i see another awesome thumpnail on the right and im watching them too
I know take a risk in doing this, but for the first time in 630 videos I feel I have some advice or a suggestion for this recipe. You see those 5/6 protuding things near the base of the flower at 0:26, they should be, and generally are snapped off before cooking as they're rather prickly and not that good to eat. The second thing is the removal of the stamen that we see at 2:13, that is bitter (and ugly) and removing it leaves a little more room for the stuffing. Go easy on me...
hey Chef john, try stuffing them with oaxaca cheese or chihuahua, jalapeño(brunoise), red onion(brunoise) and epazote, i use to have them on my menu, and was a top seller :)and i used Tempura batter, if you cant get oaxaca or chiguagua chees try mozzarella.
I have been eating zucchini blossoms all my life .. they are amazing tasting and addictive you cannot just have one! Mom doesn't blanch nor stuff them - just flours them then dip them in an egg mixture and OMG so YUMMY!!!
@yormotherson Did it feel good as you moved the foreskin back and fourth over the head, bringing you closer to orgasm with each stroke. And as you get closer to orgasm fine strands of pre cum begin to appear & drip from your hard cock till you eventually cant hold back no more & just have to cum. Then the thick creamy semen gushes fourth in a violent spurt from your now pulsating cock, you pant & grunt heavily as the last few drops of cum drip from your cock. It felt real good didnt it.
