I think this video (haven't seen your others, but I'm sure they apply) would be great for social workers, legislators, insurance reps, nurses, doctors, and really people from all walks of life to watch. I'm downright STUNNED at the cost of things and how insurance (a majority of the time) isn't willing to cooperate. This will be great for a LGBT group we're doing at a mental health facility! Thanks for all the in-depth/personal info!!
I just saw your video and three weeks ago i had surgery to remove my cysts. Due to my cysts being so large, my doctor placed me on a shot called Lupron depot what is does is stops the estrogen production in the body causing the cysts to shrink. Google Lupron depot and also ask your doctor about it.
I love your tattoo! I love your hair! I love your personality! You are cute I love you! You are such an inspiration! If I were a girl I would so go for you!

Dude im sorry this stuff hurts. I understand the cists they hurt a lot. I have PCOS and they burst and then i get new ones its horrible. I know you were talking about taking your SJW and not being able to with the new meds and im totally anti mood stabilizer and it took me along time to get over it but they really help alot and these issues should go away and then you can stop mood stabilizer ya know, Also congrats on falling inlove with your bestfriend its pretty awesome!
bro. i know how you feel about mood swings, i've been on sustanon for 9 months and after the 3rd month my emotional well being changed so much. Mainly because my doctors didn't get me in with the endocronologist before treatment and my blood tests after i finally got to see him 6 months in showed at peak level that my testosterone level was 17 points higher than it should be! That was on 250mg every 4 weeks. now i'm on 200mg so they can stablize. But i feel you man, i've been up and down too!
Hi. Could you share some insight as to which plans do include this surgery? I recently moved to the Boston area and started a new job. My partner will want gender reassignment surgery in the future, so I am keeping that in mind as I select my health insurance plan. Thanks in advance!
I'm a nurse in endocrinology. We deal with the insurance bullshit alllll the time. U should appeal the denial...before u submit the appeal, get letters from ur endocrinologist and OB doctors stating that the surgery is recommended!! IF ur doctors state that the surgery is medically necessary then ur insurance should cover it!! It also.depends on what insurance u have though....some are more stubborn than others!!! ;)
Hello, I am so sorry about what you are going through at the moment....in the end everything will work out, sometime we just have to go through these rough patches... I know this might sound stupid but have u thought of raising funds through your channel? ... you are a very likeble and sweet person and I am sure a lot of people would donate for your surgery, which is necessary... I would! xxxx
i finally got the exam doneearly this month and u know what helped? seeing rene pene have it done on TV. I figured if he is strong enough to let it be televised, i can do it and its for my health.
Hey Skylar, have you tried making an account with ChipIn?
I know you said you probably wouldn't ask anyone to donate, but maybe you should think about it. I'm sure a lot of people would donate since you've been so helpful to younger transgender kids and you're just an overall nice guy.
Ur the hotest guy ive seen , im gay btw lol. Im proud when i see a person doing wat he or she feels best to them. I like u , ur a great inspiration , ps ur gf is beautiful, add me on facebook my name is gin croix
Sky, you are amazing. I can't even begin to explain how blown away I am. You're wonderful and absoutely beautiful. Your confidence is lovely and I am in love with your smile. Even though I don't know you, I am proud of you.
I know it sucks, but did you ever think of maybe... school loans? To pay for your hysto..
I mean it sucks, but its something to consider. I don't know your situation, so I'm not sure if it's an option for you. Maybe the appeal will work. Good luck man
do the appeal! I've definitely heard of guys who had to appeal 3, 4, 5 times and then finally got it covered. Since you're having health problems, you have a chance.
I wish you the best of luck with your insurance issue!! (And that aweful pain!!!) I've been following your blog so far, and you're very inspiring, Sky.
have you checked out Dr. Christine McGinn in Philly?? She does a hysto for $7,500! she may be the answer to your problem, and since she is trans she will obviously be understanding. good luck!
I am sorry to hear that you are suffering from Poly Cystistic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). I can sympathize with you because I recently had PCOS (I am an intersexual whose gonads contain both testicular and ovarian tissue). Unfortunately, the presence of high T levels does increase the growth of PCOS. You could eliminate the current problem b just havingthe ovaries removed. That is a much cheaper surgery that you generally recover from in days rather than weeks. That (cont)
@Johnson210000 is probably what the insurance company was suggesting when they stated that a FULL hystro was not indicated. Of course, that would still leave the other stuff and you would need to continue to get annual examinations as long as you continued to have that equipment.
Simple ovary removal is also a much lower risk surgery than a full hystro.
I just found your channel while browsing through Youtube, and I must say you are an inspiration to ALOT of people! Keep being strong and, no matter what anyone one else says, be who you are! You are definitely one in a million! :)
so, thanks for update....question....um...i feel dumb to say because u r a smart guy and like would know this already but...have you appealed the insurance company man? sometimes an appeal works I mean...I hope this doesn't offend you, but many friends do this for their medical stuff managements
so, thanks for update....question....um...i feel dumb to say because u r a smart guy and like would know this already but...have you appealed the insurance company man? sometimes an appeal works
$20,000 is on the steep end for a hysto. The range is $7,000 - $20,000.
Maybe you should look around for a doc that's on the cheaper end and see if they're safe enough. That's what I'm planning on doing. I'm not even hoping on insurance (though I'll try anyways, just in case).
I've been watching your videos for a while now, and have never commented, I think. However, I just wanted to tell you I'd like to donate a few dollars to your surgery. I think it would be good if you considered accepting donations for it. Let me know and count me in :) Cheers, man!
D: thats a lot of money. guess because they consider it some form of plastic surgery. hell id get hysto if your getting this much pain from your ovaries. yeowch
Sky, why don't U do that surgery abroad where the costs of the surgery are much lower? I live in Poland and I'm going to have that surgery in 2 months. Total cost depends on the hostpital/clinic but it's from 2000 to 4000 $ (total hysto).
My boyfriend had really really bad stomach cramps and pains at night. His family doctor referred him to a gyno and an GI specialist and never could find any direct cause. The gyno recommended a full hystorectomy based on a family history of uterine cancer. He's now almost 12 months post-op and hasn't had a cramp attack since.
It sucks that you have to go through such pain. You are a huge inspiration, both as a trans guy and as a human being and as I see it you deserve every happiness that could possibly ever cross your path.
Stay optimistic and don't give up on getting your surgery. You obviously need it.
well im glad your probably one of the few men real about negative physical issues during your transition. ill pray for you man. if that does anything for you consciously, but thas what i do. continue to be positive and as optimistic as can be. time heals. be blessed and i hope for the best with your situation my man. troubles dont last always.
I'm really sorry to hear that things haven't gone to plan and everything but it's good that you're trying to remain positive and hopefully you'll be able to get this surgery sooner rather than later. As far as donations go, you have been a massive inspiration to so many people and a fantastic advocate for this community so I'm sure people would be more than happy to donate to you, even if it's just a small amount. Stay strong mate, I'm sending positivity your way!
Hey Sky, I'm sending lots of good vibes your way. You've been such an incredible inspiration to me over the past year. I can't thank you enough for your videos - your openness, kindness, and warmth. Please please consider setting up a surgery donation account. We're a community, and we're here to help one another, any way we can. With love
Hey Sky. I´m from Germany and maybe it´s an option for you, but my Hysterektomie & Ovarektomie cost 650 Euro here in Germany. So I really can not understand why it´s so expensive in the States.
May be you should come to Germany for this surgery ! :-) Keep your head up !
Hey Sky. Your videos have been really encouraging to so many people going through transition, myself included, and I hope you get your surgery soon.
You've probably already considered getting checked for ovarian cancer, but if not, see if you can get an ultrasound or biopsy - it's not impossible to get it young, and you want to find out early because after it's spread, there's not much to be done in terms of treatment.
Hang in there, we're all wishing the best for you!
Hey Sky, I'm sorry that everything seems so painful and overwhelming right now. You deserve so much better than that. Try your best to keep your chin up. You serve as an inspiration both to the trans community and to those outside of it. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Keep your chin buddy, I"ve been through uber traumatic hell for the last month with a bad relationship breakup and overall "life in toilet" depression all the way around. Yet as usual you make me feel better listening to your vids and how you try to stay positive through it all. Wish I had the cash dude, I'd pay it all to get ya feeling better. Let's both just keep hanging in there and maybe things will work out in the end, either that or give up and we're above that. Keep smiling!!!
Love the tattoo, it's like a permanent wristband and the reasons behind are really cool too :). Also loving your hair! I remember you having a blond patch awhile ago but this one looks different. Hows you're luck on growing a beard going? I thought I saw stubble for a sec but I think it was just shadow :p
You are my role model, dude. I know that sounds weird. Sorry. Anyway, today was my 17th birthday and having this video on my birthday gave me hope for this next year. Only one year till I can start T. XD Hope you can get your hysto soon.
Have you tried Fish Oil in place of St. John's Wart for your anti-depressant? I don't know if you can take Fish Oil because the same reason you can't take SJW. On the upside, if you can wait this long, I heard 26 is the age that you can do anything reguarding your reproductive organs.. I called about an ablasion last summer and they told me they wouldn't see me til I was 26.. Obviously that was before I went on T or even thought about it. Just some thoughts.
Despite all your ups and downs, I can see the happiness in your eyes that wasn't there, or wasn't the same these past few months. this happiness has manifested into something beautiful and something energetic. Best of luck.
Since you are in college, are you able to maybe take out some extra money in student loans to help pay for the hysto? I know it'd be debt you'd ultimately have to pay back but sometimes you get lower interest rates that way and won't have to pay it off until later. 50k is quite a lot though, and obviously you won't be able to take out that much, but taking out a little a semester might help... Good luck with everything Sky!
I hope you will be able to find some way to get hystorectomy or at least take the pain away somehow. Keep your head up high, there must be some way.
Maybe, if you like, you could do some kind of chipin I'm sure your viewers would love to help you. You really seem to be a great person and I'm thankful for every video you're doing. Get well soon!
Dude, my mom had to take Tomoxofiin (sp?) and she had wicked mood swings because of it. Awful medication. Sorry dude, I hope things start to get better for you.
2: I used to advice people to be optimistic, whenever things were bad, but now I say f*uck that. Be realistic.. and practical. :D
For example, about the money. Get a joooob~~
I know it sucks, but dude, in Greece we don't even have ANY insurance on that subject! We'll have to earn like....way too many money and then probably travel abroad in order to have a sex change (or any operation of that kind).
So.. Try to earn the money and DON'T ever give up. :D
sky mate, i know this was supposed to be a pretty depressing video, but i respect how you still try and be positive.
not only did you help me discover myself, you've made me a way more positive person, and i feel closer to nature than i ever did before, you have honestly help me become a more balanced person, just with your outlook on life.
You're an inspiring guy - I hope everything smooths out for you quickly and smoothly. And I also have a tattoo representing tree rings in the same spot on my forearm! I love your depiction of them. Take care of yourself.
Good luck bro! I know you can get through it all! And that's so cute, you and your best friend. :) I know how you feel, generally I'm a happy person as well, but sometimes there's just that moment where you go "Oh god, no." it'll clear up!
Also, have you ever tried to become a youtube partner? I see that you have 12,000 subscribers. That's a good amount and you could prob apply to become a youtube partner and it seems like you have a good chance of getting accepted. That way you'd at least be able to make some money by putting ads on your videos.
If you don't plan on doing a chipin acct to raise money, getting ads on your page would be a good way. You've put a lot of good trans info out there and you deserve some kick back in $.
@12thLeveIWizardKing indeed, theyve been asking me for a long time to be youtube partners. i've resisted simply because i didn't want ads on the page to clutter things up. but since everyone's got it now, and 67 people don't seem to mind, perhaps i will reconsider!
@skylarkeleven You should do it. Watching a quick 30sec advert is hardly a big deal and especially knowing that it would help raise the funds you need. It would be a thank you from us to you. x
Damnnn ,it sucks to hear that you're insurance isn't covering the surgery. I hope you're able to figure something out and get it done elsewhere, even if you'll prob have to pay out of pocket. It just sucks that it's causing you so much pain.
Your new tattoo is really cool. And I like your earrings. :)
Hey, firstly i hope things start looking up for you soon :) ive been a viewer for quite some time but never really comment because you do a good job of explain ... and whatever you hold back is basically stuff that is a NEED TO KNOW basis .. lol im cool with that.. also im canadian ( i dont know about insurance) but if money is the issue, i dont know how you feel about accepting help but there is always online pledge that your viewers can help and be apart , i for one would love to help :)
:) Good to see your face again! Sucks about your pain! And sucks more about your insurance, but it'll work out - self proclaimed psychic. Last 30 seconds following your 'blah's' you seemed your old self :D
I really really hope you'll get out of this pickle soon, dude. We all do. We care about you and your well-being, you know? Just try and think positive and we'll look forward to another, happier update. Think on the brightside for the time being, okay?
Can't you get the preferred treatment (according to your insurance, obviously, since there are three docs that say the hysto is the preffered treatment) for this instead of a hysterectomy for now? At least you would be rid of the symptoms and then you might do a hysto later. I mean, I get you would want the fewest possible surgeries but going on in pain doesn't seem to cut it either.
@MrImportrans their preferred treatment is stopping testosterone and starting birth control to prevent more cysts/etc. as you can see, not so much an option :[

My favorite parts were the silly noises you made and also that you are falling in love with your best friend. That is just so lovely. :)

Good luck with everything Sky!
xirtkaeanjax 7 months ago
I hope you will be able to find some way to get hystorectomy or at least take the pain away somehow. Keep your head up high, there must be some way.
Maybe, if you like, you could do some kind of chipin I'm sure your viewers would love to help you. You really seem to be a great person and I'm thankful for every video you're doing. Get well soon!

1: you're still fucking hot~
2: I used to advice people to be optimistic, whenever things were bad, but now I say f*uck that. Be realistic.. and practical. :D
For example, about the money. Get a joooob~~
I know it sucks, but dude, in Greece we don't even have ANY insurance on that subject! We'll have to earn like....way too many money and then probably travel abroad in order to have a sex change (or any operation of that kind).
So.. Try to earn the money and DON'T ever give up. :D

12thLeveIWizardKing 7 months ago 185
@12thLeveIWizardKing indeed, theyve been asking me for a long time to be youtube partners. i've resisted simply because i didn't want ads on the page to clutter things up. but since everyone's got it now, and 67 people don't seem to mind, perhaps i will reconsider!
skylarkeleven 7 months ago 68
@skylarkeleven You should do it. Watching a quick 30sec advert is hardly a big deal and especially knowing that it would help raise the funds you need. It would be a thank you from us to you. x

sending you love, strength, and healing, as always. i'm sorry you're going through all this.
on the flip side, i really like:
- your new tattoo (THE most rad idea, too, i must say)
- that you have a different plug in each ear
- your arm muscles

DontKnowDontAsk 7 months ago 3
Can't you get the preferred treatment (according to your insurance, obviously, since there are three docs that say the hysto is the preffered treatment) for this instead of a hysterectomy for now? At least you would be rid of the symptoms and then you might do a hysto later. I mean, I get you would want the fewest possible surgeries but going on in pain doesn't seem to cut it either.
MrImportrans 7 months ago
@MrImportrans their preferred treatment is stopping testosterone and starting birth control to prevent more cysts/etc. as you can see, not so much an option :[
