go to wikipedia and read the "Surgery and Current Business (2009–present)" section!!

  • @thekingmpeg really

  • LMNO says "we got the right stuff" check out LMNO!

  • This came out in the late 80s not the 90s. Yes he would've been considered one of the best by all indications from this freshman lp. This is one of the greatest rap albums of all time. The accident was very tragic but who knows maybe had it not happened he might've ended up like Tupac a gifted legend that died too soon. Atleast he stayed in rap writing huge hits for over 20 years. The bigger shame is the lack of recognition he got for that and maybe lack of adequate pay. I love classic rap.

  • @fletcher373 well put

  • So sad he got into that accident, he had so much potential....seriously could have been on of the greatest. It's a fucking disgrace this video only has 204,420 views.

Fuck that i'm pissed you my nigga D.O.C.

  • 8 people didn't know the formula

  • Why I wanted to start spinning....

  • Wow...I haven't heard this song in years! Instantly this song brings back all those great days growing up in Orange County Cali...yeah this song will always be tight! I miss rap like this from back in the day.

  • Damn man, rap hasn't got it like the ol days. 90's hiphop ruled all genres. They were all dope genre's in the 90's from dance, alternative, metal, grunge and rock but hiphop ruled the 90's if you asked me. Do you agree?

  • my man D.O.C.

  • The DOC rocks.. Old school shit

  • he might not be considered the greatest. . but i dont think there is another rapper who had more raw talent than the d.o.c.. the lyrics, the story telling, the flow, the delivery, and what truly seperates him from the other legends like rakim was his golden voice. Combine this with working with the greatest producer/dj in his peak during the golden age of hip-hop.

  • Thats why that nigga is still ghost writing now for other rappers

  • man i cant believe the accident screwed up his career he would have been one of the greatest

  • It's hard to tell who's doper here, Dre or DOC

  • classic

  • omg this is just so funky, doc and his amazing lyrics and in my opinion dre's best production on an album

  • if he wouldnt of gotten in that car wreck then he prolly have been one of the greatest like eazy dre snoop pac biggie seriously hes defintly got the writing down and his voice was one of a kind but that happened so now it sucks and he doesnt have that great sound anymore its to bad rap always gets hit so hard everytime

  • Man I still can't believe Dre and Eazy didn't like my shit :(

  • mc mallet thats great

  • I was trying to remember today the Mallet part. DOC is my favorite from the old school days... The Formula... dope (headlights blinking from the bass hit, wow olden days)

  • every post i've read has been about DOC's place in rap history or what it would have been if he wouldn't have been in the accident and I agree 100%! As for this song, straight up one of the GREATEST songs EVER!

  • Hey The D.O.C. had the game locked up but the wreck killed it.I'll say it again I'm a Tupac fan I think he's the Greatest but if the D.O.C. didn't have that wreck Tupac would have been the 2nd in my book!

  • Str8 honest, this is the one song that got me hooked onto the lyricism of Hip-Hop and made me want to become an artist. Back then the D.O.C. was hella ill, too bad that accident destroyed his vocalz. I give props to Nas, AZ, Cube, and Pac for makin me fall in love with Hip-Hop so much, but the D.O.C. was the first to make me want to rap and listen to Hip-Hop in the first place.

  • D.O.C is from Dallas from the fila fresh crew, and came out west and could of been one of the greatest with Eazy E and DRE but his accident ruined his vocal cords, please respect his genious, he is still a great writer and would of been bigger if he did not lose his vocal cords.

  • The DOC is a BOMB ass rapper!!! He is also one of the few who didn't cuss when he spat!!!He falls into that Rakim and KRS-1 category...one with skillzs.

  • Muthaphuckka, clue me in man. 1:57 sounds like the begining of a Curtid Mayfield sample. If I'm right, which track?

  • classic

  • @LlLWayneSucks haha love your name

  • The D.O.C. was the fucking man. Just listen to his voice. Amazing. Cats back in the day had to distinguish themselves according to a stricter criteria. You had to flow, have stage presence, battle, write well. You had to be an all-around artist. Do you think Dr. Dre produces for the average rapper? Hell no. Almost 20 years later, the D.O.C. is still remembered for dropping a landmark album.

    Much respect to D.O.C.

  • D.O.c. stands for Dj On Compton

  • dude could have been that nigga but only dropped one record cause of that accident

  • the group at 0:27 is fuckin hilarious!i still cant stop laughin!

  • MALLET! MALLET! I AM! MALLET! MALLET!

  • so ridiculous,so stupid,i laugh now cause you reminded me of that!so stupid!hahaahaaha!

  • We just don't know how good we (fans) had it back then! i mean whether it was Reggae, RNB, Hip Hop, Hardcore, Gfunk....da talent was there and the music was top quality like good dope..now...its well the people who aint used to nothin good aint gonna be able to tell the difference, but for us that was back there in 1989, the 90's...we know better....(lookin at what we have deez days..*sigh*)

  • my fav part comes in at 3:34 .......sick scratching!

  • What Does D.O.C. stand for?

  • this is such a good song to drive to

  • Classic album!!!!!!!! No One Can Do It Better

  • he reminds me of method man from Wu Tang Clan this song is off the hook

  • It's a shame an accident ruined this man's career. Dude definitely had the formula.

  • Yh yh i wanna dedicate this to my MOMMAAA

  • lol at the start eazy looks tyt, and dre says see ya in 0.07 lol.

damn his voice is dope here

  • g funk raise man... i luv dis

  • One of the 3 better-known MC's from the West that deserve props along with Cube and perhaps Ice T

  • No One Can Still Do It Better

  • the king of west coast!one of the best ever!

  • wanting new friends

im on cam and bored 4i

  • The best Rapper to ever come from the south of any Jurisdiction.....thanks for the tunes D.O.C!

  • duh nigga formula!

  • PRICELESS

  • So guys whose voice sounds better, Tone Loc or the current D.O.C.?

  • Tone Loc nigga no question

  • Dallas Organize Crime The D.O.C. started to write all of NWA rhymes when Ice Cube left

  • nice......just found this gem on a cassette in the back of a record store...its dope...!!!!

  • the best of DOC =)

    olD schOol 4 lIfe

    keepin' it real =)

  • It's a shame I have to come to YouTube to find real hip hop. (Radio doesn't play it anymore.)

  • ha ha. that is true. Underground and old school.

  • @mrcapablanca can use Pandora, Sirus radio, itunes, download links like mediafire/hulksahre or frostwire

  • @mrcapablanca i agree its hard to find anything old school

  • @TheKrism92 its not hard to find old skool music but its hard to find old skool artists nowerdays that why i turn the radio and the MTV off and just stick to my music i dont need more music than the old skool music

  • DOC has a rap all unto his own.Whether east or west.

He will always have my respect.

East is where the sun rises.

    Peace to all....

  • i wish his voice wasnt messed up

cuz if he was still makin music

i bet it would sound hecka good

    but anyway

    i love this song :)

  • dam this is hella old school i havn,t seen this video in years the doc was the shit back then i miss old school rap like this hella funny new kids in the hood and mc mallet and the 45s ...

  • such a relaxing beat

  • all da new trash on da radio nowadays CANT EVEN FUCK WITH DA TRUE SCHOOL SHIT FROM WAY BACK WHEN

  • Now this is RAP!!

  • Nice beat. Too bad DOC's voice got messed bad, he could've made some great albums.

  • New Kids In The Hood! LOL!!

  • lol his username is MUTHAPHUKKA

  • Man I got so much respect for Dr. Dre, im young and it seems like every day I'm hearing new classics by this legend. D.O.C and D.R.E for LIFE!!!!

  • Back then hip-hop was mind blowing. the late 80's mid 90's hip-hop was at its best. all these new cats is fuckin hip-hop up!!! the DOC one of the best.

  • when that bassline kicks in its awesome, followed by the trumpet toward the end, great beat.

  • I was reading about DOC on wikipedia and somebody who was helping him recover from the accident said he coulda recovered 90%, but he was too lazy

  • Comment removed

  • wow u must b like 16 lol go peep some old mc like kane krs1 ect

  • i feel you man

  • he actually wrote most of snoops first album and between him and ice cube wrote nearly all of nwa albums including eazy-e solo joints thats the doc

  • The D.O.C. King of West

fuck 2Pac if DOC hadn't that accident he would've blow up in the scene instead of 2Gay

  • damn this bck whn u had 2 have a lil thing called talent to b a rapper i miss thm days

  • This n*gga was from Dallas but didnt rep, then when he lost his vocal chords in that accident he tried to bring his hoarse ass back to the Big D and radio host...didnt last long at all.

  • yea mayne dude is from tx but didnt claim that shit.but once the south blew up a lil bit and he lost his voice he wanted to say he is one of the pioneers of south.i liked his music but that always pissed me off a lil bit.

  • What happend to him

  • hes droppin a new album i think next year or the year after that or somethang, im dead serious

  • Really hoping his voice improves the slighest.

Yes ive heard this too xD

  • really? i hope he makes it real hip hop and shows some of these rappers true music

  • Hey! If this didn't happen to The D.O.C, we would'nt never have had Snoop Dog. Funny how everything falls into place...

  • Underrated as hell it should be criminal. I got this on cassette tape at of all places Walmart in 1990. I later got it for nearly nothing on CD. This is real Rap, and the DOC was so cool a shame what happened to him!

  • too bad he messed up his voice.

  • This song was fire!!!!

  • any one got that MC MALLET and the 45's YEAH! first album... gotta cop that....

    loljafkl;alksdjf;kasfj;aj

  • Good production, good rappin, the Doc was the future of the west coast rap scene, even thou he was from Texas he had excellent skills on the mic, so sad wut happened 2 his voice.

  • wat happened???

  • Dude lost his voice somehow. He was mentioned and was in a few N.W.A. and Snoop/Dre songs.

  • he was in a car accident. severed his vocal cords. voice came back somewhat. still writes tho. did alot of work on Dre's Chronic

  • Okay I knew something bad happen, that and what a shame for a talent like that.

  • dre and doc got that formula of hip hop for y'all headz.

  • new kids in the hood!!!! lol!

  • the best d.o.c. song ever.

  • the mother hucking DOC should have been in VH1's top 100 hip hop songs of all times...this was one of the better hip hop albums EVER.......word to me !

  • That list was bullshit. They had dusty old songs that only old ass people knew. So many songs i thought should be on but it was all wack.

  • Don't be mad because you were born in the era of KKKorporate Rap music, instead of "REAL" Hip Hop.

That's "WHY" those "Old" songs were on the list to begin with!

Try actually LISTENING to the era of Black Music that set the STANDARD for creativity. We did as kids. That's "WHY" when a rapper sampled music that was B4 our time, we "KNEW" who's music it was..

That's the difference between y'all & the REAL HIP HOP generation & thus the reason rap music is in its current condition.

  • The "Condition" of any era & genre of music, will ALWAYS reflect the mentality of it's "Current" gatekeepers..i.e., "Your" generation!

The 25 & under generation are the ones RESPONSIBLE for GIVING AWAY our music! And when U have a arrogant-ignorant generation who's disconnected from the HISTORY of Black Music in general, what U wind up with is a group that's "NOT" familiar with the history of "ANY" genre of Black Music, nor the "STANDARDS" that made each genre "GREAT" to begin with.

  • In hip hop, the 25 & under generation is classified as the "Errant Child". Y'all IGNORED the elders' lessons & in doing so, U cheated yourselves outta knowing "WHAT" REAL Hip Hop is, a historical perspective on the music & knowing "WHAT" the CREATIVE STANDARDS were that MADE the music GREAT.

This is "WHY" y'all love & support WACK shit. These artists & record companies AREN'T the problem. They're supplying the demand.

This generation needs to look in the mirror to see the REAL culprit.

  • R.I.P hip hop

  • the D.O.C was sooo good... He was the first great hardcore rapper after KRS-One and Chuck D. he could of been sooo good. o well.

  • LMAO. They were dissin' MC Hammer with the Mallot and 45 in the beginning of the vid. whahaha

  • classic

  • HIP HOP

  • This album is really, good. I mean awesome! No one can do it better.

  • this album was before the car accident

  • he was on tha vh1

    documentary for NWA

    that car accident messed

    up his throat for real

    it dont sound that badd

    i think

    anyway , this song go

  • dam do you know if they gonna give that documentary again or anyway i can get to see it. I fell fucking asleep the 2 times they had it before they gave it.

  • One of the best songs that were ever made, along with his album. and those 2 guys at .25 i kinda liked hahah they sounded alright for that 2 or something seconds

  • The D.O. to the C was the sh*t!

  • The DOC is master of funky beats and fresh rymes. IT's sad what happened to him though. He'd probably be a huge prodigy like Dre if it weren't for the accident...

  • I like my rap and r&b old school. This is the hip hop that should be played on the radio. Not that phucked up crap that's on now.

  • LEAKED: ***Dr.Dre***'s New Album DETOX

    /watch?v=mQl9VKySJys

  • Dude... The Beat is amazing but everyone has his own taste anyways... Peace D.O.C.!

  • I LOVE HIS VOICE

  • I never get tired of pumping this record! My favorite DOC track right here. Thanks for posting this classic video!

  • I listen to this and relax you know d.o.c izz da bomb iz the shit the whole album Love it the formula 9/27/08

  • DOC old skool west coast quality.

  • I'm the D. into the O. and the O. into the C. and the C. into the

    period

    Suckers are fearing' this

Love the scratching underneath those vocals.

  • Top shelf hitz like this is how the Hip-Hop movement thrived and prospered even before MTV showed rap music any true love.

  • The Game said

"I rap cuz the DOC lost his voice"

  • Not to many people got lyrics like this. Rakim, D.O.C., A.Z., Nas and a few other's. Yet in still there not as big as someone like Soulja Boy and some of that other crap. Sorry nicca like Young Berg get the fame and glory and he suck big time. While these cats get keep slept on

  • mallet lol

  • Tight old school track. If the DOC hadn't lost his voice he would be an unstoppable force with Dre.

  • !!!

  • great beat

    clasic shit

    RUTHLESS FO LIFE

  • Damn life is ironic man. I can't believe the accident f'ed up his voice man. IRONY at it's best man. This dude had crazy lyrical skillz and vocal presence.

  • this track is a straight up ol'school banger!

  • the d o to the c

  • he dont have no diamonds on his neck,no fur coats on his back, not pushing no new whip sitting on big rimz, just lyrics,a tee,a hat,and jeanz, and a bamging beat.ppl aint them selves no more like this, this is hip hop.this is respect.
