Actually they can prove if theire was a big bang. Our theories suggest that we can look back in time, by seeing farther and farther away from us. If what they say about light not reaching us until a billion years later, then that means we could supposedly create a powerful enough telescope that can look back in time and actually let us see the big bang. It also means that if we look past that, we can see time going forward again. which is why i saw big bang is a ridiculous theory.

What I think is funny about all of this, is that Scientists are trying to prove there is no God by recreating the Big Bang. They believe the universe created itself. What's funny is they had to build a machine to test the theory. Scientists say that no one had a hand in creating the universe, but yet they had to create a machine and make the conditions perfect for this test to happen. So it defeats the purpose of what they are trying to do.

I should understand it more before thinking of it as uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong I am amazed at what they are doing, maybe I shouldn't follow what I hear all the time. When I heard about the black holes the news made it sound like it was risky business. My bad, but it did make me uncomfortable thinking of it. I know these black holes are supposed to be very small and overall safe, and it would be very interesting to study as well.

lol, I studied thermodynamics in my first year of post grad school. And A, my "textbooks" go far beyond thermodynamics it goes into area's such as time/space equilibrium equations and motion contextual variables and alot more advanced motion and heat sinq's. Now I'm not saying we know evrything about our universe, humans actually know less than 4% about our own galaxy but the theory of the big bang is factually on the right track, and if you think otherwise please show me your proof.

Actually they can prove if theire was a big bang. Our theories suggest that we can look back in time, by seeing farther and farther away from us. If what they say about light not reaching us until a billion years later, then that means we could supposedly create a powerful enough telescope that can look back in time and actually let us see the big bang. It also means that if we look past that, we can see time going forward again. which is why i saw big bang is a ridiculous theory.

What I think is funny about all of this, is that Scientists are trying to prove there is no God by recreating the Big Bang. They believe the universe created itself. What's funny is they had to build a machine to test the theory. Scientists say that no one had a hand in creating the universe, but yet they had to create a machine and make the conditions perfect for this test to happen. One thing everyone is missing. The biggest black hole it coulr create is about the size of a subatomic particle. That means that it would only be able to eat an atom at a time if it *did* make a stable black hole. At the fastest possible eat speed, it would take 3.47x10^27 nanoseconds to eat the earth.

Years, actually. More years then the sun is estimated to last (11 billion from first fusion with 5 of those gone already). And TruthBeyond is right. The universe was created in the big bang, but not from nothingness (to create is to alter from one state to a unique new state, too). I also frankly thing it wasn't an infinitesimal kernal, either, but rather a large mass about the estimated size right after the so called "Cosmic Inflation" period.

Oh come on. LOOK, this machine will not destroy the world, or even a small portion of it. The black holes created in the accelerator are very small and decay very fast, they will not grow much larger because they are too small to begin with. Stars came before black holes did, point being, proton collisions in the beginning of the universe did not bring about black holes that didn't decay and fade away into nothing. or for that matter any other sub-atomic particle.

Who gives these scientists so much power?We are at an age where people can cause great harm in experiments.This is not like Edison in his garage working on incandescent lamp! Therefore we most certainly should have votes when it comes to things where people can get hurt no matter how small the odds may be. Governments should be more aware & involved. Don't give all power to them. The hunt for the GOD particle? Come on!That should tell us something bigger is going on here they are not telling us.

Did all these scientists weigh all the pros & cons of this experiment? Even if there is a 1 in a million chance that we will unleash something that cannot be stopped,open a doorway that can't be closed,a blackhole that grows exponentially & swallows us up-is it worth is to obtain the "holy grail" of physics? Because you know that is what they are trying to obtain?It can unlock the secrets of the universe & how it was created. We may see God!Do we really need to know what makes matter have mass?

Many countrys have given money to CERN to build this machine so i gues they gave the scientists the power to do experiments..
Its called the god particle because many people like you still use a primitive themiologie constructed 2000 years ago by madmen in caves. It is the particle that created the known universe, the creator of all..
