Could you tell me how long the battery lasts please? I know you can buy additional ones, but I'd dtill like to know if I HAVE to. I think you mean the stabilisator ;).

No, it does not decrease the quality since it is a optical, not a digital stabilisator. I use it, you get MUCH better results using it.

I used Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Adobe After Effects CS4. Movie rendered as .fl4

How do you encorporate Adobe After Effects CS4 into your editing, because I have that software and it can't help me at all to arrange the clips in order and since it isn't a movie editor, you can't even listen to additional music in simple playback, but you can otherways.

So how did you use After Effects CS4?

Did you save your original movie as a project and upload it, so it would be more simple to edit it with After Effects?

I work directly with the .m2ts footage, no upload,...

I use, as sayed, Premiere Pro as editor, After Effects is just my Color Correction Application in this case.

I extract the footage from the sound in Premiere Pro.

Ah, good question. HD FH is Full HD. HD HQ is, as far as I remember ;) , an anamorphic cropped image, means not full HD but with the height pixels of full HD. If you like to edit that in AE, make a normal HD comp. That looks better. FH is better quality, I use HQ tho.

What I REALLY reccomend trying out is to use the "screen focus". You touch the screen where you want to have the focus and the cam will focus where you told to. It's really precise and you can create nice focus-shift effects.

It's also compatible with the glidecam HD-1000, which I just bought. Awesom things ;) Have fun suing it.

I actually just found that out that will as you said create some super awesome effects and I just tried the Slow Mo Video and I think that feature is friggin great Ive never had one to do it before so That'll be fun to get creative with it to!. I need to get a bigger battery I found one it's the InfoLithium L Series $159.99 up to 18hrs record time depending on your camera the and the temp.

yep, I recommend that battery.

Slowmo has 2 modes. One is you click and he'll record, the other one is, you click and the cam will record the 3 secs before clicking. Awesome that feature, since you don't always know when something happens you want to record. Try it out ;)

that's an awesome feature, I use on nearly every slowmo record.

It's in the settings. YOu'll find it. It's this guy who golfs and the timeline to his left, the other setting is with timeline to his right. Awesome setting, cuz you can wait till for example a butterfly flys away, than you press record and you record him flying away as he did 3 secs before.

Say man how does everyone get perfect low light? Like you see vids on here of people walkin in citys and different things and the dark areas are very nice looking... Mine turn out SUPER snowy and grainy.... I can't figure it out.

well, you can't of course not record PERFECT lowlight.

better leave that setting turned off. Or you can overwork it in postproduction. I use after effects to darken the darker areas which has the effect, that you don't see much of the grain. Also you can try to remove grain.

You can't film in complete darkness in colour.

I'll try that I haven't done a full on test of low light yet but the one I did out off my front porch with just 2 street lights at each end of the road there was just to much dark to look decent. I gotta figure out how to remove grain I use sony vegas studio 9 pro.

Hey man I figure out what was makin it look like crap I was using low lux in complete dark and it was scrambled like hell but when I turned it back down to standard it looks great so I took it out when I had to head to the store the other night and man it looks amazing.

well, it records HD in different formats (lq,hq,...). You don't have the possibility to change recording settings like gain and stuff, but well, if you just want a quick record, you'll get what you're looking for with this cam.

It's small, light and handy. It just has 8 GB HDD but well, you can buy additinal stuff.

Easy to connect to pc, but records in AVCHD. I don't know if standard programs like Movie Maker can read it cause it's a special new format.

But it's good for it's price.

There is no way in the cam to do that. But you can make videos and photos easily black white on ur PC. I own the Adobe Produciton Premium CS4, so I use After Effects and Photoshop.

Does this HDR-XR500V shoot clearer video than the HDR-SR12?

I know it has better low light and 12mp and some other stuff, but does this model focus better?

I never used the sr12.

But this cam focus pretty fast. But you have to be careful on lowdetailed surfaces. Than it goes fast out of focus.

It's a very clear record.

HDR-XR500 is the newest model. The sensore is much better than before (=better lwolight). Steadycam version updated.

But If you don't have the money, you can buy the old SR11, it's nearly same quality, but particularry in lowlight much worse than the new model.

How did you get the DoF? My old Sony HDR-SR5 can only get that if I'm really zoomed in. Great vid by the way :)

Well, since the model sr10 or so sony added a manuel focus wheel. That's very useful.

And of course the new Sony G-Lens supports dof a little better than the old models.

And I zoom in. Up to 35mm. that will give you a nice depth effect.
