Her fingers are very long and almost stringy.

For that violin, that's not always an advantage, but on viola it is good to have long fingers.

I think she's a better violist. This is an extremely difficult piece to play but it sounds so frail in comparison to others. I think her rendition of the Bach suites are quite nice though. (How does that even look/sound like a viola?! Some people are so dumb at times.)

I'll probably get flamed for this, but where's the music? It's refreshing to see an African violinist, but this sounds like an etude. If you don't agree, listen to Hilary Hahn's Paganiniana, which was recorded live in a grueling recital that included Ysaye, Paganini, Ernst, and Milstein. Skip to the ending, starting at 6:50 or so, and then tell me if you still like this clip. I'll be astounded.

More people should make recordings like this.

There's no echo chamber reverb, no violin overmiking, no sonic compression - NO TRICKS. Just violin sound without artificial enhancement.

If you recorded the world's greatest violinists under these conditions, they wouldn't have much better a sound than what Ms. Ngwenyama is doing here.

Her technical control is so good that it makes this piece sound EASY. Trust me, that's REALLY hard to do.
